Digital Television

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Ecerywhere we turn the tv , no matter which channel, we keep hearing how good that digital tv is and will be.

We’ve got an analog set, a converter box, and an amplified antenna. Everything is hooked up. We sat down to watch the set and saw a lot of funny looking pictures with weird sounds. It’s hard to watch tv when you can’t make out what is being said or what is happening. We had to keep changing the angle of the antenna all the time. I even tried to mark the position which seemed to help get the best reception, but it kept changing. We’re supposed to have 15 different stations but can only watch actively 3 or 4 of them. The rest keep breaking up. Without the box, we receive 5 stations clearly without any problems.

We’ve given it up for now. We use the fancy amplified antenna and watch our regular stations with no problem.

Is Digital REALLY supposed to be better? Can’t tell.

A Grumpy Fat Broad

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

Yes. it can be a personal comment.

It can also be very true. There is a reason for grumpiness, sometimes. Back pain, toothache, arthritis, gas cramps, are all things that can result in a lack of cheerfulness.

Now as for fat broad, well……I is what I is. Yes, I meant the lack of proper grammar.\
Some paid relievers help with some pains, others help with other pains. I think that the worst pain possible is to be surrounded by a lack of joy or humor. To laugh is to lighten your soul and make you feel better. Even when things around are not what you want them to be, it can be possible to find something to laugh about.

If you knew about an old group that appeared in old movies called the Keystone Cops, they were a good example of slapstick comedy. A good pie in the face, a bucket of water on the head, a cigar that pops when lit, all these can trigger a knee jerk reaction of laughter.

The Roadrunner, the Three Stooges, Bugs Bunny were all thought to be silly. There was also something special about them that could create a light hearted feeling in the person watching.

I MISS THEM.

The world has a lot of “serious” going on right now. It needs humor, a chance to laugh and feel better even if only for a little while. So, when you can, find a way to laugh. You can feel better. It does work and help.

Cheers to Reeses Company!

At last another commercial that catches your eye and yet doesn’t put anybody down. It also gives you an excuse to “Snicker”.

The commercial asks people to help stop global warming because….the Reeses might melt. The first time I saw that I couldn’t help but laugh.

I wish more companies would use humor, not sarcasm in their ads. An additional cheer to Reeses, their product does taste good.

It’s Me Again….guess you’re not Margaret.

Believe it or not I’ve been sick. The infamous creeping crud has been and taken a toll.

For most of the time I am afraid that I sounded like a person who had been a smoker for 90 years. (No offense to smokers.) Feeling weak and not very sociable does take toll on your person. Then there is also the fact that nobody wants to get very close to you and what you might have.

Well, I survived. I’m not trying to whine ; but, when you feel bad sometimes the whine comes very easily. Hopefully the crud has gone away; and, I didn’t share with anyone. I know that sharing is good, but……there are some things that ought not to be shared. Happy health to everyone out there in internet land.

DUCK !

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Actually…Maybe I should have said QUACK.

I love the commercial from AFLACK. Watching a cr race around while feathers fly is hilarious. Then seeing the duck wobble (or should I say waddle) around with a helmut on his head is also funny. The first time I say that I must admit that I cackled.

The only bad that I could see was that the other drivers were having a hard time seeing while driving. Kind of reminds me of chicken trucks. It is a shame that other ad agencies can’t have fun commercials without putting people down.

Auto Insurance

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

It’s time to rant again, at least for me.

There is an auto insurance company that brags about supplying liability insurance for anyone. Unfortunately, their choice of examples of drivers they show makes me wish I was driving an armored truck or say maybe…a Sherman tank.

Yes, I said tank.

One example driver shown, chases people through the parking lot. He swerves his car back and forth, bumps things (or people), people run away screaming. He doesn’t slow down or use his brakes. The streets or parking lots are not the place to play dodgem cars.

Another example shown says she NEEDS her car. She admits to more than a few tickets, and more that just a couple of accidents. Neither example driver should be on the road until they have gone through drivers education training. They need to learn that driving a car is not a right,; but is a responsibility.Enabling dangerous peole to occupy our roads is not encouraging.

Driving cars is not a game or target practice. Once someone gets behind the wheel the gaming stops.
