Gun Control

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Welcome back!

I am for the Right to Bear Arms. The constitution, through the 2nd amendment gives citizens that right. Many states and cities have tried to limit that right. The ones who suffer are the law abiding people that live there. Gun control advocates have misstated the statistics when they talk about ‘gun crimes’, all to make their opinion known. I just found a few sites that expose the lack of accuracy in those ’statistics’. One such site is

Union Leader.com

It is interesting how statistics can be twisted to show only one point of view. It is our choice whether or not we know the full listing of facts. Both sides in an argument need to be checked out.

Surveys

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Just spent about 7 hours on the internet looking at survey sites. Wow, some of them aren’t about surveys as much as they are about selling services, time shares, ring tones for phones, magazines, yata, yata, yata.

What a disappointment. Taking surveys happens to be something that can be fun. Sometimes surveys offer a chance at sweepstakes, or prizes. Most of the ones I met weren’t honest about what they wanted. Instead of answering questions that are part of a survey, you get presented with choices of services, over and over again. The answer of no is not taken easily. The same products are offered again and again. Where I come from, no means no, not try again. some surveys didn’t want to accept that I didn’t desire to publicize my phone number. The site wouldn’t move on until you gave them what THEY wanted. That isn’t surveying, that is only false advertising. The alt button and F4 sure did come on handy.

Tornadoes Again

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

In my previous post, I wrote about only a few of the experiences I’ve had with tornadoes. I’m NOT an expert. The experts are located with the National Weather Service. This is also called NOAA. Below is the link to find out multiple facts about different types of weather. Hurricanes and tornadoes are storms to be wary of experiencing.

NOAA Weather

Please check it out! This is important. Hiding under overpasses does not work, it is dangerous. Racing away in your car is also dangerous. Tornadoes can travel faster that a car, plus it is not limited to just using the road like the car is limited. Check out this site learn what is fact, and live. Please!

Tornados and Other Storms

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

More storms in our country. More people hurt and homes lost. It hurts to hear these things.

I talked to a young lady at our phone provider store the other day. Told her of growing up in ‘tornado alley’ in St. Louis, Missouri. When we talked, I learned that not a lot is known about tornadoes by some here in Texas. I remember having to open the apartment windows just a little to avoid explosive decompression. That is why so many destroyed buildings look like kindling. A direct hit by a tornado is not something that is easily prepared for. The TV stations warn people not to hide under the overpasses because the suction of the storm would drag people out, yet people hide there anyway.

Growing up I saw yellow skies, green, pink, you name it. I learned that when the winds get still while it blows elsewhere, pray. The hail that I showed in an earlier post is only one thing that damages buildings. The wind, the vacuum from the storm also are major causes of damage. I’m no expert, I’ve just lived through it.

Spam

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

I am beginning to hate spam. It shows up when you least want it. The food in a can is alright, but the electronic type is a pain in the bottom. ( I try to spell tucus, but the spell check tells me it’s wrong.) On this site I keeep getting spam for ring tones. If I wanted ring tones I’d ask my provider, not anonymous johnnies who sneak their messages in on you. Broadcast TV is well known for it’s commercials, it is a shame that going on the internet you are bugged by advertising anyway.

Even cable TV is not free of commercials. I know the ad agencies need to make money; but, butinsky spam is not appreciated. Tried to look at something in an article found in Stumble Upon, but spam got in the way. UG! Yes, I’m ranting again. At least if you’re reading this, you chose it of your own free will, I didn’t spam you after all.:)
