Stereos and Stuff

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

My husband and I were in the store the other day looking in the electronics part of the store. He told me that they were talking about not longer putting cassettes players in the stereos. I know that a lot of people have cassette tapes that they want to play. if these things are no longer available what will they do?

Everywhere I see folks with the little ear phones in their ears and a little box in their hands. What are those things? Are they MP3 players, are they radios, i don’t know. in some ways I am still Analog. I even wrote about that fact in an earlier blog called “Digital, Analog, Hard Copy, and Stubborn”. I know the world is changing. Sometimes the change is for the good, like in medical advances. Sometimes the changes are not so good like with people’s attitudes, pollution, politics (I could go on here). Why are people so anxious for a lot of changes? Yes, new stuff can be fun. It does NOT mean that the old has gone bad.

Personality in a Hat

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

On Friday, the fourth, my husband went out to the nearby park to see what was going on. He and a friend walked down where there were venders of food, knick-knacks, souvenirs, crafts, and other items. It was hot outside (we live in Texas), the sun was shining, and there was a light breeze.

All I could think of was that he was wearing his cap. Some of his medicines make his body more sensitive to the sun and its effects. I couldn’t remember if he had a cowboy hat to wear, but figured that a cap was better than nothing. He later told me that there was someone down there selling straw cowboy hats for $20. He didn’t think that was a good price, so he didn’t buy one. I remember (a while ago) when you could go to a fair and buy a hat for a couple of bucks. Inflation has gotten to everything it seems.

The way I figure it, what type of hat you wear helps to show some of your personality. After all there are as many types of hats as there are people. I have tried a few myself, but when I looked in the mirror, all I could do was snicker. I am not a hat person myself, I looked like a doofus with it on. My husband has a collection of baseball caps with different sayings on them. Some of them are rather grungy and need to be washed. He changes which cap he wears each day, I guess according to how he feels that particular day. Amazing isn’t it. Each hat can show how a person feels, what their personality might be like (after all you wouldn’t wear something that you didn’t like), some of what they might believe. I know they have ink blot tests to get to understand a person, can you do the same with a hat?

How Handy It Is

It’s me again – of course. Who else would it be? :)

I’ve been thinking. I know that that can be dangerous, but I do it anyway. The way that I access the internet is through a dial-up connection. My phone is the modem. When i have phone calls as I am on-line, can’t answer. That might seem like a big draw-back, but it evens out in the long run. I don’t have to worry that someone will access my computer when I’m not on it. When I get off-line, the phone is disconnected from the computer so there aren’t any interruptions. However, I have something that has made it very handy. The phone while plugged in is steadily charging. I no longer have to plug it in to the charger to avoid a dead battery. I have put the charger away in the carton in which it came. I got tired of it sitting around getting in the way.

How handy is it that I don’t have to worry about a dead battery anymore? :)
