Before the Holidays
Welcome back!
It’s now after the fourth of July. School is out, temporarily. No major holidays are near. Think about it…Valentine’s day has passed, Mother’s day, Father’s day, New year’s Day, they have gone by and now there is summer. Gas prices are high and people are staying home.
What is there to do? Parents are no doubt thinking with pleasure of the day when school starts again. The kids are probably thinking YUK. (I know that I did, when I was a kid.) What’s next? don’t have a calendar handy right now; but, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas come to mind. Several months off. Planning for these holidays can start at any time. Who will you have over, how do you tell them to come over? In the old days you would send out invitations. Thanksgiving day invitations, Christmas invitations, word of mouth. Maybe now I should say word of text or e-mail? do people talk to one another any more? Guess I’m old fashioned in that respect. Not that I write letters. These blogs are mostly just my thoughts and ideas. I love the idea of family gathering together. It doesn’t have to be for a particular day. I grew up with mainly a mom, who didn’t talk to the other family members. Do people still gather? I hope some still do gather and enjoy each other. Times are tough enough without loneliness.
