What is in a name

Welcome back!

Just read an article on the internet that had me wondering if the parents were on LSD.

A nine year old girl in New Zealand finally got her name changed. I cannot imagine what her parents were thinking to have named her - Talula Does The Hula… I do not think that the parents have any love for their child. I can understand wanting your child to have a name that means something special, but get real people.

How can it be love to handicap an innocent child with a name that will make them into someone that will be mocked and made fun of? Why did the child have to wait for nine years to get that horror changed? Why was it even allowed to be put onto her birth certificate to begin with? Too bad that the parents can’t have their names changed to Moron #1 and Moron #2 for the rest of their lives to see if they would like to be mocked and made fun of because of a name. I do not understand how or why someone would do that to a kid.

Having read the article, thank you for the link, I have to say that there are some parents who simply are so stupid that they cannot name a kid. If they are that stupid, they certainly don’t need to be parents. Of course, you don’t want that to end up being a law that if you name your child some stupid name that you can be arrested for child abuse. That would be going too far the other way.

However, having looked at some of the names that were allowed, I am wondering about the sanity of the judges in those cases. I mean…..Allowed names: Violence; Number 16 Bus Shelter; Midnight Chardonnay; Benson and Hedges (twins)…HELLO!!!!! What kind of idiot names a kid something like that???? I know we have a creative bunch of parents here but really. And the kid in this piece had to keep that name until she was nine years old. The damage is already done.

Why are these things allowed? Because you have the right to name your kid anything you want to. I cannot believe we should change that. But you would think that the parents would see what a life a kid would have with that sort of thing. I know that Johnny Cash came out with the song, “A Boy Named Sue” but that was a song to make fun of something. This is reality. What trashy people to name a kid something that will ultimately damage them. Moron is a good name for that.
