Dieting

The name of my blog probably tells you that I need to use a diet in my daily life. I’ve tried some. Some are expensive, others a lot of hassle. Either way the word ‘diet’ has connotations with it that make me shudder.

No, I won’t talk about the negative right now. There is enough in the world that makes people sad. Anoretix is another diet pill that is available out there for those who can’t just control the amount of food that is eaten. Hoodia is also mentioned. I wonder just how many diet pills are on the market today?

I wish that there was something that was easy and simple for people like me to use in order to lose weight. Exercise is good to mention, unless your movements are controlled by the presence of pain. Who knows, one of these days there might exist an easy way to accomplish the loss of weight without the pain, pills, diet, and other things that go with losing weight. Until then, I will fumble along and do what I can.

Heat Problems

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

Another thing that I have found with the heat around us, is the fact of pain.

My fingers hurt, my back, toes, ankles, my back, it seems to be every where. Cold is a hazard to someone with Arthritis, so is a change in the weather. It seems that I get used to one type of weather, then it changes, and I have all of the aches again while my system adjusts to the change in the weather, I adjust to the change in the amount of pain.

Pain killers will only go so far in relieving the aches. The stiffness makes it harder to adjust at the same time. I am not whining, just stating a fact of life. When I was younger, I used to hear adults talking about kids having growing pains. I used to think that that was what was bothering me in my joints. It wasn’t until I got older that I realized that not everyone had pain all of the time. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I had a name to put to what was bothering me - osteoarthritis. It has been with me all of my life. Most of the time I just ignore it, but there are some times that I can’t. The absence of pain is a wonderful thing, I’ve said that before. That is another reason to avoid the extreme heat outside. However, I do have bills to pay, and some of them make it necessary to go outside and around town to get it done. If the pain left and didn’t come back, I honestly do not think that I would miss it, do you? :)

Babies

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

You know in all of my thinking on summer, I had completely forgotten about people with babies. If my husband and I are having trouble with the heat, I bet that babies are more sensitive.

I’ve seen parents carry those things that babies can sleep in while the parent is shopping. In the winter time they use blankets to help cover the baby up to keep the baby warm. What do they do for the baby in summer time? You have to keep the infant from getting cold, and too hot. With the temperatures we’ve been having, that has got to be hard. A baby carrier has to have something that will take care of that, doesn’t it? I mean just a carry handle will not protect the little one inside. Shade is also important. A Bugaboo stroller makes it easy to move around in the store with the baby while finding the items that are needed. There has got to be something that will shade the baby while the sun is so intense, and allow for the movement of any air that might come from a breeze. I’m glad that right now, we don’t have a child to worry about, because I wouldn’t know what to do concerning the heat. It’s too bad that strollers don’t come with their own air-conditioning system or heating system. That would help wouldn’t it? Meanwhile, I am still going to avoid as much exposure to the heat as I can. I like fall and winter much better.
