Border Crossings

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Welcome back!

All of the time we hear about smugglers of people and drugs. What we never hear about are the times that Mexican troops cross the border and harass our own people.

What gives with this? What are they doing invading our country? Why is this not exploited by the media like ‘Brangelina” and all of the other crud which they love to announce? I get the feeling that their priorities are not in keeping us informed so much as pulling the wool over our eyes, so we do not have any idea what is going on. I thought that Mexico was supposed to be an ally with us, not an adversary.

A Pea in a Jar

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Have you ever noticed that there are many different ways that people can be described? Some of these ways can be complimentary, others…..well….not so good.

I have heard insults (being a large woman that happens), compliments, comments, the list goes on. I have heard the comment that someone didn’t have the brains that God gave a flea, the brains of paste (which is rather pathetic if you think on it), the brains of a chicken with its head cut off. Each insult is unique is what is said. I even heard that one person’s brain rattled around like a pea in a jar. I know that people are trying to say that someone is not very intelligent, and they are trying to describe how extreme this is. Others are just trying to insult someone. I have been guilty of this. I imagine that many of us have, too. Maybe we should try to think of good things to say to help a person to improve. Doesn’t that sound hard to do? It would be worth it though, in the long run. Insults are easy, complements hard. It is not impossible, maybe we ought to give it a try.
