Education ?

Welcome back!
The GL Wiley Middle School in Waco, Texas, has for five years gotten failing grades on state tests. For five years the students have been under sub-standard education efforts.
The Waco Independent School District wants to close that school down and send the students to other schools where they will be properly taught. The parents of the students are protesting.
If I was a parent, I would have protested the sub-standard education that my child had been receiving for five years, not the chance for them to go to a place where they will be properly taught.
I do not understand.

It is mindboggling that the parents are not trying to see it from the point of view that their kids are getting a crappy education. I know that it’s tough to have to be bused to other places. I would hate that myself and the kids probably detest it. However, if a school is substandard even for the worst case scenario, then it is very important that they get to a school that does teach something. Our school system is crappy where we live but it does teach some things and it is not substandard as yet. They are seriously lacking but not due to be closed.
Why can’t the parents see that they have allowed the kids to be treated badly in the name of being close to home. That should not be the first criteria. Thanks for the heads up on this.
