Dishes

Monday, August 25th, 2008

One of the things that I remember from being a teenager, was washing the dishes in the kitchen sink.

Mom and I lived in apartments and had to make do with what ever sinks came in the apartment. Where my husband and I live now, we have the split sink, you know two sided.

It is a whole lot easier to wash dishes now with two sides to the sink than just one. I’ve worked in restaurants where they would have these giant sinks that a toddler could take a bath in, but the sink would have three big sides to them. Doing dishes there could really get hard on my back. At least now the sink at home is at the right level where it doesn’t get to the back very much. We tried paper plates for a while, but you still have to wash the pans that are used, and it always felt like throwing money away after eating. Oh well, back to the old kitchen sink again. At least I’m taller now. :)

Cartoons

Monday, August 25th, 2008

I miss some of the cartoons that used to be on TV a while back. some of the things shown now are disturbing.

I remember when the Roadrunner would be on and the Coyote would get a kit from acne, I mean acme and put together something that was supposed to help him catch the roadrunner. It went wrong every time.

Supposedly those cartoons were too violent for kids to see. I remember people griping about them. However, I still miss them because they were fun to watch. Everyone knew that they were not real even us kids, but they were fun. I even remember the 3 Stooges. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk used to drive the teacher crazy because the kids would try to say it. Am I showing my age? It might be fun to be a teenager again, sometimes.

Moose

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Yes, I did say moose. I should have said two baby moose and their mother.

A very smart person video’d a family of moose playing in one of the old fashioned sprinklers that is shaped like a fan. Kids will be kids, and of course they play. Mama watches over them and seems to enjoy the sprinkler at the same time. If you have time, check it out. it is beautiful in its simplicity.

Looking up

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Well, for critters stuck on a ball of rock scientists are always looking at the sky. They have found more stuff up there. At least this time is isn’t stuff that we left behind that might fall out of orbit like Skylab did.

Way out there by Neptune is another contact that is apparently made of ice and rock. Isn’t amazing what can be found? We have sent satellites out past Pluto, never landed there. We look around and find really strange things.

I saw some pictures of Jupiter where the size of Earth was compared to Jupiter side by side. It looked as if the Earth could be dropped into the ‘Red spot’ on the side of Jupiter. The planet is so big compared to our home. The patterns on the surface of Jupiter almost make it look like it was made of different types of fluids that are on the move and constantly swirling and mixing around. The view of the Earth showed the Middle East. I could recognize the Arabian peninsula and part of Africa. Our little planet is one piece out of a rather large cosmos.

I wish that we could be united with each other in peace rather than have to draw imaginary lines on our little planet. To each person it looks big by itself, but it’s not. Compared to other planets, it’s tiny. You should compare it to just the other planets in our own solar system. It makes you think, at least it did with me.
