Brains, not Lanes 2

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

Welcome back!

I like to use Stumble Upon.com to look at items on the internet.

I just found this one and needed, no wanted, to add it to the list of no brainers. I have been through drive-through lanes at many different banks. They DO tell the available height for anyone wanting to drive through. This person did not pay attention.

Drive through mishap.

I hope that the driver survived and had insurance. A lot of insurance would be needed.

Brains, not Lanes

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

A man wanted for burglary charges in several states had held up the traffic and commerce in a motel. The police used a robot to send in food, drink and cigarettes. The man threatened to shoot the police robot and the pregnant woman trapped with him.

Not very smart. What was he supposed to eat otherwise? he threatened to blow up the motel, shoot police, the woman with him, and the supply robot. His actions ended up blocking the local lanes there and caused the eviction of the proper guests of the motel.

When the police finally got in, he had NO explosives, or guns. The man was stupid. He will be charged with kidnapping, terroristic threats, hostage taking, and other charges. All for being a burglar. Breaking and entering alone is bad enough, but all he did was add to the list of charges against him, and endanger the woman with him and her baby. I do not think he will ever be charged with being smart, do you?

Service Industry

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

Service Industry. That is what some type of service to others is supposedly called.

Yeah right, from what I read that just ain’t so at one particular motel. If i had needed to stay there I would have called it the motel from hell.

It used to be that when you went onto a gas station (remember when they were called service stations?) someone came out and helped you to get gas into your car. They did more than that with the wipers, etc. Now, you get the pump which will change from station to station, and a ‘convenience’ store that is only convenient for spending money with no service at all. I am not even talking about gas prices here either.

Even when you go to a restaurant, the ’server’ isn’t always willing to serve. so much for the ’service industry’. The service is gone unless you welcome lip service, or someone lipping off.

Attack of the Cricket

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

Yesterday I was attacked by a cricket. Well, at least that is what my cat thought. She was nosing around my legs as I was posting an article on this site. Kept petting her and she kept hanging around my legs. Then her whiskers started to tickle - a lot.

I scooted my seat backwards and found a cricket on the floor. Sami our big white kitty pounced and attacked. She kept driving the cricket away from my legs every time it jumped in my direction. As long as it moved away, no pouncing. When it moved towards me, pouncing. I guess Sami was being a guard kitty. After all must protect against the attack cricket. :)

Troubled Times

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

These days there are many people that are going through tough times.

Some people are hearing from debt collection agencies, some are just trying to stay ahead of the next bill. Some places will follow the law as is set down in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, some won’t. I just hope that families are able to keep a roof over their heads and food on the tables.

Trying to avoid any extra bills isn’t always easy. Things like needing to replace the car’s water pump (that’s us right now), to having Doctor’s bills that crop up unexpectedly, to repairs that are needed on the home (leaking roof, plumbing, etc.) can throw any budget out of whack.

The best that anyone can do is try to do their best. Be honest, avoid unnecessary spending, and wait for things to slow down. The most important is - DO NOT GIVE UP !

Education ?

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

The GL Wiley Middle School in Waco, Texas, has for five years gotten failing grades on state tests. For five years the students have been under sub-standard education efforts.

The Waco Independent School District wants to close that school down and send the students to other schools where they will be properly taught. The parents of the students are protesting.

If I was a parent, I would have protested the sub-standard education that my child had been receiving for five years, not the chance for them to go to a place where they will be properly taught.

I do not understand.

Something

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

There are times that I do not seem to have anything to write, but I want to put something down. Some times my thoughts are scattered and hard to focus.

Trying to make logical statements, when I am human and most definitely not a logical being can sometimes by interesting. Some times my fingers seem to dance on the keyboard and my thoughts flow out without any trouble. Then there are the other times. OY VEY ! I know that logic is possible after all humans did design computers. Please ignore the snickers that you hear in the background. I realize that computers do have their problems. i suffered through the bad experience of having a worm get into my computer. It finally told me that I did not have permission to turn it off ! Of all the nerve. That is where the power button came in handy. Or I could have unplugged it. Well, any way logic is possible.

I have my moments. doesn’t everyone? I just wish that ‘my moments’ would come more often. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Here I Am Again

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Yup, it is the blabby broad. My spell check tried to tall me that the word - blabby - was supposed to be flabby. Either one works. *snicker*

Today I’ve been to the grocery store, got a little food for a bit of money, got soggy from the rain. It finally rained ! We’ve been in a dry spell that has left the grass sounding like potato chips when you walk on it. Our car got washed, you know the rain did it. If we took it to a car wash, the neighbors would be stunned, the car would be too.

The price of gas is going down a little. It is under 3.60 a gallon here in this part of Texas right now. I still think that the gas companies are gouging the public and should be up on charges, though. I have no idea why the executives would be getting such high wages for doing a lousy job. Although, now that I think on it, the gas companies are reporting a great deal of profit right now. The rest of us sure aren’t.

Got some tomatoes for 1.29 lb. They won’t last long in this house. They are eaten almost as soon as they are gotten. I’ve been having muscle cramps, so got some canned milk for the calcium.

At the very least we got out of the house, breathed some outside air, got wet, and saw some traffic. Another day in the life of….:)

Robin Hood ? NOT !

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Just found an article on Stumble Upon. It had me shaking my head that’s for sure.

A burglar with a sense of humor. Very unusual. He definitely is not Robin Hood, cause he did not give to others except for advice. Everybody gives advice these days.

That is something that many people do not want to hear. So, this person wrote it down for the sad home owner to read after realizing that they had been robbed. I guess that the burglar hasn’t thought of handwriting analysis after being caught. all the police have to do is compare that hand writing with a sample from the finally jailed felon and voila - jail bird. I just hope that the home owners start to realize that locks and alarms do happen to work most of the time. :)

Messages

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

Have you ever wanted to give someone a message that wouldn’t be forgotten? I have. I have made my own business cards using a copier and card stock, I have decorated baseball hats using magic markers and fabric paint. That was fun, although I was messy and had a big clean up job afterward.

I have never tried personalized pens myself. I have read a few that made me laugh, though. I can always use a good pen. When I’m in the store and have to sign a check, I do try to avoid running off with the cashier’s pen. My husband has gotten a few pens from some of the medical supply salesmen that are unusual.

The types of messages can be endless. One pen we were given claimed to have been stolen from a niece. She was the one who gave it to us. I had a chuckle over that one. Messages can be given in unusual ways. T-shirts are seen every where. Hats on heads are seen, but pens get used constantly.
