Cats

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

Welcome back!

I’ve been thinking about some of the unusual animals that we’ve had. The one that comes to mind we called Junior. He was a neutered male cat that was solid black.

At the time that we had him, my husband was having seizures. He was having grand-mal and petit-mal types of seizures each day. One day he told me that when he would come out of a seizure, he would find Junior right next to him. The cat would be purring loudly right next to my husband’s head. I saw this happen one day when I had gone out into the yard to hang up laundry on the clothes line next door. Our neighbor allowed us to use it since she didn’t use it. While I was out there, I had locked the door to the trailer, because he was asleep. The next thing that I knew, Junior had found a way to get outside and was raising a ruckus. When I turned around and followed him, he led me to the front door, then through the trailer to the bedroom, where my husband had gotten out of bed and fallen onto the electric heater and was having a seizure. I rushed over and removed him from the heater just as it clicked on and the coils started to glow.

I expected to find that my husband’s stomach would be severely burned from the heater, but it wasn’t burned. Junior, our cat, had saved his life, if not his health. Another time my husband was standing in the kitchen when he toppled over onto the floor and went into a grand-mal seizure. Before I could get to him, Junior had inserted himself under my husband’s head and used his body to act as a cushion while my husband jerked in the seizure. He wouldn’t let me remove him until the seizure was stopped. The cat then got by my husband’s head and started to purr very loudly. My husband admitted that having Junior there purring helped him to recover from each seizure, and not be scared. We lost Junior in 1997 when he was 12 years old. We do not know why he died, we know that we miss him greatly.

People aren’t the only ones who can be heroes. :)

My husband no longer has seizures. We have other babies now. One of them, Dipper, is sensitive to when His blood sugar gets too low. God continues to bless.

TV

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Simple title for something that is not so simple, ain’t it? :)

What can I say, but that our favorite TV station - KWTX News 10 - gave an upbeat news program that was good news. They interviewed a veteran of the Iraqi war who had gone back to Iraq to see what changes, if any, there were to be seen. The man talked to the soldiers who were stationed there and mostly he was told that they were bored. The Iraqi people are doing most of the work and the American soldiers were bored.

You do not hear that on the national news.

I wonder why that is? Don’t you think that the American people would be glad to hear that the troop surge has worked? The more that things get better over there, the quicker that our soldiers can come home without the chance of things going bad after they are gone.

Well, any way, if you want to see this news article for yourself, go to the KWTX web site, and click on the ‘find it’ button. Look for - Vets For Freedom 08.15.08.

Privatized Jails

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

My husband has gone into the nearby jail to witness to the inmates. He has been able to lead quite a few to the Lord.

He just told me his views of privatized jails. It is not pleasant. Then I found an article in the NY Times online that made me almost want to commit violent felonies on the ones who did what was done. A law abiding man was thrown into detention because of a foul up on the Government’s part over a green card. He was denied any medical treatment until 5 days before he died of excruciatingly painful bone cancer. He was treated roughly over and over again.

WHY? I want to know why? We have illegal aliens getting more benefits from our own government than citizens. Yes, I said illegal, not law abiding. Now, this has happened. It was a privatized company that was in charge of this man’s care. Is this what all citizens have to look forward to if something happens and we end up in detention or jail? :(

This man did NOTHING WRONG and yet, he got the death penalty.

Tomatoes

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Round, red, juicy, full of vitamins, nutrients, and anti-oxidants. I have been on a tomato kick even through the scare with the salmonella illnesses. The tomatoes from Arkansas were never in suspicion, thank God.

I have run out of those wonderful fruit/veggies. I want to pout now.

I know it wouldn’t do any good to pout. Tomatoes are so good on many types of sandwiches, salads, or on my plate and then in my mouth. They also have very good fiber in them. When I have trouble with something bothering me that I have eaten (gallbladder trouble that is), some juicy tomato is such a help. I am making myself hungry now. See ya later. :)

Voting

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Voting here in the USA is supposed to be a responsibility and privilege of legally registered US citizens.

How have any who are not citizens been allowed to register AND VOTE? IT HAS HAPPENED. The sad part in addition to all this is the fact that many regular, law abiding US citizens no longer care to take part in this country. It is bad enough that many forms that we fill out each day have Spanish on them as well as English, but to allow lawbreakers to try to take over our country, too?

Why doesn’t anybody care? Where is the media in this? They are surprisingly silent. We should not be silent, too.

After all if someone is an illegal alien, they are a lawbreaker. They show no respect for the laws of the land they are in illegally. Why should they be allowed to influence our lives?

Feelings

Monday, August 11th, 2008

I watched the Olympic games tonight. At least most of them. When the Swimmers were to take the podium for the awarding of the medals and the American swimmer had stepped up to receive the gold, it felt good.

The part that got to me was when the American National Anthem was played. The melody by itself is beautiful. The words spoke of a fight that was being waged. The feelings expressed were concern for whether or not the fight was being won by the new American people.

Thinking on what was being expressed made me cry. Our country has been a wonderful place to live. We have freedoms that are not always found in other areas. It made me wonder if our country will be able to continue to be free. I do not want our country to fail. I do not want our people to fail. So many other places have lost so much and people have suffered. Please pray for our country. Please pray for our people. Please pray for our leaders.

Songs

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

Practically everyone has a favorite song. Well, one I just heard on the radio sure is fun. It is a country song called ‘I’m still a guy’. I don’t know the man singing it, but he has a good voice.

Usually my favorite songs are gospel music, whether country style or otherwise. This song, however, talks about the differences between females and male. I’m glad that there are differences. They make life interesting. Any way, as the song plays and the singer explains how the male approaches things and how the female approaches things, all I can do is nod my head and sometimes, laugh.

There is no filth, violence, or dirty talking used, yet this song is great. I wish that others could learn that keeping things ‘G’ rated isn’t hard. :)

Belly

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

Yup, I said belly. Not mine of course, but the belly of our second cat - Sami (a,k,a, Samantha). I used to hear people say that cats do not demand attention, HA.

I’ve had cats for a while now and can very firmly attest to the fact of their demanding attention. Sami is mostly white and about 10 lbs of love. When she has decided that attention is needed, she will go belly up. Yes, that white belly showing is a sign of the need for petting. Her purr is rather comforting. If I try to rub the belly of our first cat, Dipper, well, where is the peroxide? Dipper’s picture is in another post called Internet Kitty. Sami has her picture there, too. Yes, Dipper still sits on the top of the computer and watches me as I surf the net. (That’s fun to say, now that I can do that.) Rubbing a soft belly is comforting to the person with fur who is being rubbed and for the person with skin who is doing the rubbing.

Progress in Iraq

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

There is progress in Iraq. Why isn’t the American Media shouting this for everyone to hear?

The London Sunday Times carried an article on Aug 6, 2008 that talked about this. Has our media in the USA gotten so fixated on the liberal agenda that it cannot be impartial any more? We hear all about the deaths of our soldiers, we hear about the cost of the war, why do we NOT hear about the victory?

I used to think that giving the news meant that facts were talked about, not someone’s opinions. We do not hear about the Mexican army personnel crossing the border and threatening our law officers, but we hear about ‘Celebrities” who mess up their lives. Whoopee :(

How are we supposed to find out what is going on when we are presented with sludge instead of information?

What Language Do You Speak?

Friday, August 8th, 2008

I speak English. Do you?

so many of the forms that people need to fill out these days also have Spanish on them. I am not Spanish. It bothers me that people that want to live in our country do not bother to learn English. If they are in the process of learning, more power to them for they will be bi-lingual, and I am not.

I understand that when people first come here, they may not speak our language, yet. However, when they have lived here long enough to apply for Food Stamps, or other government help, why would we have to use their language?

One of our former Presidents evidently felt the same way. Roosevelt made this plain. I’m not trying to sound like a bigot, because I’m not. If I went to live in another country I would try to learn what language they spoke. After all isn’t communication important? Isn’t it?
