Kitties

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Welcome back!

Since my previous post was serious, I decided to let out something that is not serious at all.

My sister knows that I love to see critters, games, food (as if my nick name didn’t give that away), and science articles. Well she sent me a site that has some very cute kittens, and one very smiling cat. Since I have 2 cats myself, I do know when a cat is smiling. So, to cheer up those who want something to grin about, I have put in a link to the site. I haven’t checked out the other pages to see other pictures, but i do believe they are there. I will check them out after I get done here.

On TV the politicians are blaming one political party or another, the fat cat executives in the financial places are stuffing their pockets while they can, while the rest of us just wait to see what will happen next. So here again is a link to something cheerful. :)

Jobs

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

i know that in my last post I had mentioned a fall party. Some families will not feel like doing such a thing, like some who live in New York around the stock market. The thing is that there are still jobs in Manhattan that are going begging looking for the right person to fill the position. For those in New York, or in one of the surrounding areas, do not give up hope.

There are places that still need accountants, nurses, and other types of professional people to fill vacancies. Getting a job right now would certainly help with the hard times in the financial market. Families do need to stick together and whether it be a small matter like a party or a big matter like employment, not giving up is one way to get through the squeeze. I am not talking about putting on a false front here either. The gathering at someone’s house does not have to be fancy and expensive, or over the top. The job itself does not have to have a giant title either, but looking and not giving up, and presenting a solid front are definite positives for any family.

Ideas

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

You know with October just tomorrow away, I imagine that a lot of people will have some sort of gathering together of the family. I had mentioned candles in a previous post, but what if you were to have party favors for the guests you might have a your home to celebrate the coming of fall?

A lot of promotional products would have the Halloween theme. If you do not celebrate the big ‘H’, you could have party favors with your family name, or the date on it. It would be different than other types of things that might be given as party favors. Imagine something that can be used over and over again. Like changeable power adapters that can be used no matter what type of power outlets that you might have, or flashlights, or coffee cups. It would be different.

Games 2

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

Since getting on the internet, I have found games all over the place. They are fun, addictive, and something that is just cool. Yes, I still use that old word.

One that has recently gotten me hooked is a grid of letters. You are to eliminate all of the letters, then the site will send you to another spot. I haven’t gone there yet because I keep going back to the grid. Like I said, it is addictive and fun.If you like to think and plan while playing a game, this one will get you to do both.

I went to go to the site that I talked about here, and it has changed. Now it shows a policeman chasing a crook. I caught the crook. I miss the letter grid, though.

Music

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

I have written about a lot of different things. Some that make me upset, some that make me sad, some that make me happy. Well, this one makes me happy.

I love music. Country music, Rythem and Blues, Pop, Easy listening, Classical, Rock and roll are different types that I like to listen to. There have even been a few rap pieces that caught my fancy. Sometimes it is the music that catches my interest, sometimes it is the words that catch me and then I get caught up in the music. I have to admit that my most favorite of all time is Gospel music. I love the harmony of the voices and the way that the different notes blend together in a wonderful beat. The message that gospel music gives is of course dear to my heart. When I’m tired it relaxes me. When I’m sad it encourages me. When I’m happy, it lets me celebrate along with it.

Music is something that all people have in common. There are so many different ways that people can express themselves that it is amazing. I have loved to listen to Irish folk music, Chinese music, Polka music, Spanish music, Mexican music, they all show the different feelings of the people of their countries. Music is wonderful. I hope that you are able to enjoy music yourself. It is something that most people can enjoy.

Protection?

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Just read another article about those in public service (I should have written public ’service’ instead) abusing those they are supposed to help. When there is a loving family for children to be in, why are the children being forced to be in foster care? Is it not abuse to deny children the love of a family? To me that is abuse. Unnecessary abuse when the kids are obviously loved and wanted. What is with the different agencies that lie to families, to children, and break them apart unnecessarily?

I know of other cases where innocent people were harassed, lied to, had money stolen from them, and were persecuted by the people in a supposed “protective” service agency. Why have so many agencies gotten power hungry. What ever happened to serving the public interests instead of persecuting them?

Skin Conditions

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

These days you see a lot of commercials where people are worrying about the condition of their skin. There are creams, and lotions to reverse the aging process. There are medicines for acne treatments all over the place.

If you check the internet, there are a lot of sites that offer beauty treatments. There are so many types of products available that it can be confusing. I’m glad that I am free from a lot of those worries. I wear make-up sometimes so I do not worry about needing a lot of stuff.

Some of the acne treatments do not work, some do. So, if you need something like that, you ought to check out the possibilities.

Car Insurance

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

In these days of high costs in everything under the sun, saving even a little is important. We drive a 4 cylinder Chevy Cavalier. The gas it uses is very minimal. It still adds up however.

Another thing that is hard to find is cheap auto insurance. If you can find a source that gives good, reliable, inexpensive insurance it can really put money into your pocket.

When we shop for food, we do not always use the name brands either. We will compare prices, and items to try to get the best for the little bit of money that we do have. Comparing prices today is no longer just something that is done for fun. It has become a part of everyday to day life.

Eyes

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Got my eyes examined yesterday. Sat for a long time with everything very blurry and everything looked as if it had a halo. Man, those eye drops they put in have some effect. The first eye drops burned and I wanted to rub my eyes, but knew better than to do that.

Found out it was to numb the surface of my eyes so the technician could check the pressure in my eyes to check for Glaucoma. I was told that my pressure was 17. Didn’t know what that means so asked. If the pressure in my eyes was 21 or over, a more thorough exam would be necessary to make sure the pressure wouldn’t damage my eye sight. My uncle had Glaucoma and eventually went blind. That isn’t any good.

next my eyes were dosed with drop again. I waited for the eye doctor this time, he came in looked into my eyes using a special scope that helped him to look way in the interior at the back of the retina. No damage. He said that my eyes were okay and that the Diabetes I have hasn’t done any damage. If you have trouble with your eyes, if you can, get them checked. There are so many things that can take away your eye sight, once it is gone…..

Well, Thank God I got a good report.

Supper Any One?

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

I was wondering what to fix for supper. Didn’t want the usual type of thing. The usual being sandwiches of one type or another.

What do my eyes show me? Italian recipes and some pictures. They look yummy. I can imagine my waist slowly wanting to inch outward, my mouth was watering. That is what would be good for supper.

The only trouble that I can see is the lack of all of the proper ingredients. What i could see was wonderful looking. My idea of a simple ‘Italian” is some cooked macaroni, spaghetti sauce, browned meat - dump together and call it Goulash. That is not Italian by the way. I call it ‘dump-it’ cooking. It works for me, but for those of you who are adventurous, check out the link above for great tasting food.
