My Adventure

Welcome back!

I guess I shouldn’t have said it was just mine, but I’m the one writing this, so HA.

Any way, my husband and I along with his mom were going to the store and then the pharmacy. We made it to the store and were on our way back. Mom remembered that we hadn’t yet made it to the pharmacy, so I needed to turn around.

Down one block, turn right, down another block, turn right to come face to face with a dead end road. Then the dreaded sound any driver hates……the sputter of an engine running out of gasoline. Yech. I checked the gas gage, it said that the car had 1/8th of a tank left. It lied.

Thank God for cell phones. Started calling for HELP. First person, the answering machine answered…no help

Second call, my Texas sister answered. I told her where we were located…in the back of nowhere that is. She figured it out, got her great grand child into the car and came to our rescue.

Meanwhile, my husband pushed the car back to the end of the dead end road, so the car was visible, then his chest got tight, so I took over. Notice the name of this blog, I had the weight needed to move a small station wagon with two people and groceries in it a little way. I was trying for the shade because of the heat of the day. Suddenly this young man (between 20 to 25 years old) pulled, got out of his car and helped with the car. He was pushing so beautifully that I almost fell on my rump, because I was pushing with my back to the car. He then offered the use of his cell phone, the use of his car or any thing we needed to get us rolling again. I told him we had help coming, and thanked him for his very timely help. His offer of help blessed me so much that the warm feeling I had inside was not from the heat of the summer day. Sis showed up, got us the gas necessary to get to the station, made sure that the car would run and we were on our way again.

That young man who stopped and offered wonderful help was a great blessing that was unexpected. I pray that the Lord will bless him greatly the rest of his life. He took mercy on an older fat lady with her family, was cheerful, polite, and very helpful. My sis coming out of her home with a handicapped child to also give help was another great blessing.

God provided a good end to an unexpected adventure.
