Then if the boyfriend likes the idea of getting in your face, I believe in the face is where I would be with him. No, it is not a great way to influence neighbors but at the rate this guy is going, they won't be neighbors for long. :) Our obnoxious neighbors are likely to be moving. They rent and the house is sold. Dunno for sure but it is likely. That is nice news for a change.
