Yes, inflation does make the two cents grow. Unfortunately it does not help the teachers to teach, or the schools to educate properly. Other nations are getting ahead of the USA, and people wonder why. If the education system is failing, and the parents fail to notice - That is why. It does bother me that the children in our country are started at life with unnecessary handicaps. We should be striving to make children's lives better, not make their lives harder to live.

The educational system not only has fallen short, it's practically non-existent anymore. Our nieces who are in high school watch movies that are not even relevant to the subject in class. One of them, this year, had the assignment of making a kite for math class. And unless you count the fact that she had to make it on time, there was no reason for it at all. They did not measure the distances between ends nor any other thing.

They have math for the purpose of taking a state test but that's in social studies class. The band teacher thinks that his class is the only one in school and has activities scheduled regardless of what else is happening. This is not a required class but if you don't show up where he wants you, your grade goes down accordingly. And it's either feast or famine for homework. In one grade, there is little to no homework whatsoever. In the next, it's piled on. And the teachers could care less if you bring it in or not.

This is about the Dumbing Down of America! And the parents of the students are allowing it. Our nieces get some training at home but not enough. That happens because there is a baby in the house and she takes up a lot of attention. But there are many parents who simply think (and wrongly) that their child or children are getting what they need at school Not so. And when they hand out the awards and scholarships, this school gets very few.

Bad news for sure. So, it is not a surprise that people can no longer talk well. Just my two cents, maybe should have been a dollar for the inflation.
