Goodbye to a Friend

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Welcome back!

Today my husband and I lost another friend. She had fought and won against colon cancer. She loved animals of all sorts. When she would find homeless animals, she would find them homes where they would be loved and cared for. She managed to find homes for many helpless animals with many lonely, loving people. She gave us our white cat that has adopted us and our older cat as family. This kitty’s name is Samantha.

Our friend’s name was Linda Frick. She will be greatly missed. She died today approximately around 3:30 pm. I do not know what it is that killed her, but her family does need prayer. We only knew her for a few months, but in that time she proved to be a very special person.

‘Tis the Season

With the problem that my sister is having with her leg, she will not be able to shop for any gifts for her family. I realize that many cannot afford to spend a lot for their families this year. I even wonder about businesses and any promotional business gifts that they might need to purchase to advertise their businesses.

I have heard a lot of different ways to handle things. One way to handle the idea of gift giving was to limit gifts to one per person. Try drawing names from a hat or bowl so that everyone will get at least one gift, and each person will only need to spend for one person and not a whole lot of people.

We personally will not be spending a lot because of so many things going on right now. What ever you do, try to avoid bankruptcy. That will not help any one. Most important, be with your families where ever and when ever you can. That in itself is a gift. :)

I’m Simmering

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

I guess that sounds better than saying that I am stewing. My sister lives in Arkansas. It has been called the ‘arm pit’ in the US concerning health care. I have no idea what the life insurance rates are for people that live there, but they must be high.

She is stuck AT HOME with a severe leg infection. The doctor who saw her stated that he cannot check her into the hospital because the medicine that he wanted to give her for the cellulitis, she is allergic to. I know there is more than just one type of injectable anti-biotic available.

I do not understand all of the road blocks that she has had to face there. I just do not understand.
