Arg !

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

Welcome back!

Yes, I did write ARG ! Have you ever had a dream about something, and when you wake up, want to write it down? However, when you get pen and paper together, you can’t remember what it was? It is enough to make a grown woman growl. Of course, when that happens, my husband looks at me as if I’d lost my mind.

Maybe I have, sort of. After all I lost that dream, where I put my glasses, what I went in to the bed room for, or any number of other things. When did my memory start to go, or get so many holes in it? I think I’ve not completely lost my mind, have I?

Can’t remember. At least I know that my brain is still somewhere inside my skull. After all I am able to hold intelligent conversation. Don’t know if anyone else would agree with me, but there it is.

I do know some of the answers on the TV program Jeopardy. HA ! That’s proof, ain’t it? I haven’t lost everything, yet. :)

Traveling

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Traveling is something that people do. Some more than others. At one time in my life, I had traveled to different parts of the country. It was fun, some times it wasn’t fun. The one thing that didn’t happen was me getting sick. For that I am thankful.

I never thought about getting travel medical insurance. So, I am glad to say that sickness didn’t come my way. How do people handle it when they travel and get sick? That is one thing I don’t know. Being at home and getting sick is hard enough, but to be traveling and get sick is something else that i wouldn’t want to think about. Trying to arrange to see a doctor, trying to get medicine, trying to get hospital care would all be nightmarish. When I had traveled a long time ago, there was no such thing as travel medical insurance. I am glad that it exists now for those who need it.

Back to the Body Again

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Well, here I am and it is back to the body again. I have talked about a lot of things in this blog. With a blog title of Two Ton Tilly, I have also mentioned diets.

There is another diet pill on the market called - allie. I have heard that it is actually one diet pill that works. I would dearly like to lose weight. I keep hearing about diet and exercise so much. The diet part is actually a life style change in what you eat and how much you eat. The exercise part I have heard people say is easy. For some it might be easy, but for those who have limited physical abilities the exercise part can be very hard. Arthritis is more than just an ache in your body. Sometimes, it can be very debilitating.

There has to be a way for people to lose weight that does not cause pain, or endanger the person involved. Any type of diet pill taken by someone who also takes other pills, needs to be checked by the person’s doctor and checked by a pharmacist to make sure that there is a limited chance for complications.

Uncouth

Friday, November 14th, 2008

have you ever noticed how people make a lot of strange noisec?

One major noise can be a warning of bad things to come - I’m talking about farts here! I hate the silent fart in an enclosed space, because you have no warning. The person who did it knows. At least the noisy fart gives you a warning of bad things to avoide. You know where the smell could be lingering and can avoid it.

I have heard of people who spontaneously explode into flames. I always figured they were people who tried to avoid farting. After all the gas that people make is methane, it is very flamable and explosive. Some people when burping, actually most people, will try to be silent. Some will hiss, almost as if they don’t like what they ate. Some will just burp and get it over with. Then there are those that make so much noise that you might think they need a bib.

Yes, what I’m talking about here is uncouth, it happens. I have never met a single person who hasn’t had trouble with gas of one sort or another in their lives. I have even met people who have rumbling inside of them that can be heard across the room.

Why does society have hang-ups about biological functions? I mean, everybody does it, don’t they? :)

Written Words

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

These days there are a lot of ways to present ideas. The written word is just one of the ways. If all of the politicians had to sign contracts that would penalize them if they didn’t keep their promises, it would be like finding diet pills that work. Or, how about advertisers needing to make sure that what they advertise really lives up to its promises.

So, what do we expect now? The advertisers are looking for new things, people, places to advertise. What will we be finding in the newspapers? the television programs? the radio? Sometimes it almost feels like anything goes. I know it is not the wild west, but some of the shoot outs with advertising going first one way, then another…leaves things up in the air.

The times are uncertain. So any words used should be chosen carefully. In the past I have had trouble with putting my foot into my mouth (all the way to my hip at times). I guess we should all think about what we hear, read, and see. It makes me want to eat some cheese, again. :)

Bad Grammar, Oh Please

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

What has happened to ordinary, plain spoken English?

Do you listen, really listen to the manner of English being spoken on TV these days? It makes me want to cringe, wail, and shudder. I remember how in school, the students would be corrected for any mistakes in grammar while speaking to the teacher, or to the class. The teacher considered it to be part of the job to make sure the students spoke correctly. Of course when turning in written assignments, grammar was also considered to be part of the grade that you would get on your assignment.

People in the public eye were held up as examples of proper speaking. No longer can that be done. Bad language (not cussing, although that is another thing), poor grammar, not speaking clearly, all of these things now show up everywhere.

The people in our country are starting to sound as if they have not been properly educated, or left school too soon. What has happened to actually trying to sound as if we might have brains in our heads, that we might have intelligence? Why did people decide that sounding uneducated was ‘cool’? Did they really decide this or has our education system fallen short? I wonder about that.

Encouragement

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

I like to read things that encourage people and help them to feel better, yes sometimes I gripe about something, that’s life.

Things that encourage are really wonderful. My sister sent me something that struck me as being very good. An article about a preacher’s son and what he did. His action..well, read the article and you will see what I mean about encouragement.

Games 6

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Do you want to go crazy? I have found a game that will definitely do that. When I was a little girl (yes, that description fit me at one time), there was a puzzle that you could hold in your hand and slide the different numbers around and try to get them in order. I used to spend hours doing that. It was a sort of Rubics cube that was flat.

It is simply called sliding block puzzle. I have been able to solve one version of the puzzle, but the other two drive me nuts. The one with a lot of blue blocks is not the one that does the crazy bits. If you like to go crazy once in a while, have fun. :)

Word, Words, Words

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Everywhere we look these days we are being surrounded by words. Promises from politicians, words from the media, words from advertisers. About the only place you don’t see flying words is in the country side when you’re alone. I mean COUNTRY, too, not just going along the highways because of billboards.

Billboards have the highways, even the city streets cornered. What ever happened to the idea of the beauty of nature?

Turn on the TV and words will come at you constantly either by being spoken or crawled across the screen on the bottom of the picture.

When people gather together, rarely do they gather in quiet little groups, people like to talk.Humans are very rarely quiet. We are mostly sociable critters. It also seems that where ever we go we traces of our presence, notices that we have been there. (Even on th moon, we left stuff behind.) :)

Thee are times when I wonder if all of the words flying around are really needed. Have you had a chance to notice that there are times when words are NOT necessary? A smile, a frown, raised eyebrows, giggles these are just a few ways that words are not needed. Have you ever just sat and watched people and what is going on around you, all without talking? Look at faces in a crowd, people are still using words to communicate, talking or not. Words are everywhere. I guess they are very useful things even though when not used properly they can be annoying.

What words do you use?

Games 5

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Here I go again. I am apparently hooked on games on the computer. This one called “Splash Back”, is amazingly good fun, if you like to make messes, play in the water and other things.

Making a mess, and not having to clean it up can be very therapeutic for your nerves, and it also helps me to think. Lately there has been a lot going on and this has given me a chance to relax and unwind. Sometimes, I find myself playing for hours not even noticing how the time has passed. What is that old saying?….TRY IT YOU’LL LIKE IT. :)

P.S. Don’t play it until after you go to the bathroom. :}
