I’m in a Hurry

How many times lately have you heard some one say that they are in a hurry?

Yuck. It is not a fancy word, but….yuck. People are always rushing to and from places and not looking around them. They go in one building and out another. They rush from car to bus to train. They look down at their Hublot watches and hurry to the next place.

Yes, I do like to arrive on time for appointments. I myself do not like to be late. I just sometimes feel that we forget to look around us and actually see what is around us each day. I am not saying that we should forgo keeping time - heaven forbid it. However, when we do look at our watches, couldn’t we at least be thankful that we do have time? How nice to actually be happy to see the watch on our wrist, or in our hand and think - Isn’t it nice that I have time to …..whatever?

Entertainment Tonight

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Imagine this…..you have a wonderful entertainment area set up. You have home theater chairs, a huge big screen tv, snacks beyond imagination, and time.

What would you do with it? Super Bowl? Rose Bowl? Potato Chip Bowl?

If I had all of that arranged, I would not want anyone to get their snacks all over my beautiful entertainment area. Forget the snacks, get out the vacuum and the broom. Take your snacks into the kitchen and when you are done, then you can come into my special place. I guess it would kind of defeat the purpose of it wouldn’t it? All I can do is snicker when I think of the view on the faces of those who want to really use the entertainment center the way it was designed. I would be a kill-joy to do such a thing. However, the urge to surprise someone and then finally let them know that I was teasing….. :)

Shame on me.

Sink or Swim

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Have you ever heard of the old saying “sink or swim”? I have and it can leave you with an uncomfortable feeling if you are the one being told that.

It used to be that kids were taught to swim by being dropped into water to , literally, sink or swim. Then people got the idea that if the kid sinks, the kid might actually drown. So people started to teach kids slowly how to swim in a safe manner that would make sure that they were safe. I was one of the blessed ones that was taught to swim slowly and safely. Of course now, I would float very easily without much effort. Fat does float doesn’t it? :)

Some things have gotten better in life. Swimming lessons, medicine, flight, electronics, those are only a few things that have gotten better. Plumbing has gotten better when you think of sinks, bathtubs, toilets (thank God for them), washing machines, and dishwashers. Now when I think of sink or swim, I think of a sink, or going to the beach and the surf in order to swim. Life can be good.

Going to Court ?

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Well, I went to court today. I was not the defendant in this case. Boy did I learn some things though.

Getting an attorney that knows what he is doing helps. That is not all however. This attorney filed for ‘discovery’ which should have led to the district attorney’s office showing everything that it had as evidence. It did not lead to the uncovering of all of the evidence. Some of the photographic evidence ‘got run over by a car’ of all things. Of course those police officers did not try to replace it. They did not even question all of the witnesses that were present, only certain people, not everyone.

When the defense attorney objected to the last minute addition of ‘evidence’, the judge let it happen and over ruled the defense attorney. Innocent until proven guilty definitely did not apply in this case. The defendant had already been in jail for 11 months before any trial. Our judicial system and system of law and order - isn’t in order at all.

Later the district attorney got up and twisted the testimony of the people involved and when the defense attorney protested, the judge over ruled him again. I did not see justice happen in this case. It really bothers me A LOT.
