Songs

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Welcome back!

How many cities have songs that are written with them in mind?

Think about it : Amarillo by morning, New York New York, Chicago, Walkin’ to New Orleans, the list can go on. What cities are also mentioned? I can’t remember them all. What about soap operas? Remember when the TV soap Dallas was on? I bet that many Dallas Texas hotels had a boom in their businesses.

The only trouble with that is if the city gets a bad name for it. Where I live the town, yes I did say town, is not well known. Some of the cities around it are known, but I do not know if they have any songs named for them. Waco, Austin, Houston are well known, but do they have any songs?

Just remembered one for a state - Guess I’d rather be in Colorado. :)

Allergies

Monday, March 30th, 2009

The flu is gone - yippee.

Allergy season is here - yuk. Should I say any more? Yeah, why not. I know that flowers and trees need the pollen in order to multiply, I just wish that it didn’t make allergy symptoms multiply, too.

Thank God for Benadryl and other allergy medicines. During the allergy season (a.k.a. Spring), allergy medicines can be life savers. Too bad they don’t make allergy medicines into life savers. It would make it handier to take them. :)

Colon Cleanse ?

Friday, March 27th, 2009

There are a lot of items out on the market for cleansing the colon.

Colonix is another one. I do not have the need for this type of item thankfully. If you click on the name, it links you to a site that talks about this product. Whether or not to buy it or use it is your choice.

There are many ways to keep ‘things’ flowing, if you know what I mean. Fiber is one good choice. A balanced diet with every type of food in correct amounts is another way to achieve what you need. What ever way that you try to keep ‘things’ flowing, please research each item that you are going to use and what else is needed to get what it is that you want.

Me, I enjoy raw veggies. Having the urge to munch is sometimes greatly satisfied with crunchy cauliflower, carrots, broccoli…I guess the list could go on, but I won’t. :)

School is in session

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Since it is school time, parents are at work, kids are at school, and playgrounds are in use at recess. Isn’t it amazing how the seasons will determine what goes on in town?

Summer time will have its own type of schedule since the kids will be on holiday. Eating junk food, playing, getting tanned (hopefully not burned). Having fun. Of course when school starts, some will be looking for acne skin treatment possibilities. I mean all of the junk food will effect teenagers. Balanced food wouldn’t have the same results.

I understand that it is a part of life that these things happen. When I was growing up I was fortunate to escape acne. Not school, though.

The Bed Rattles

Friday, March 27th, 2009

No, it is not a rattle snake. My husband said that s he went to bed last night.

That is the type of comment that get strange looks from people. He decided to go to bed early and was making it from the last time that the covers were rumpled up. When he was straightening out everything he noticed a strange sound coming from the bed itself. After he started to check it out, he found one of the cats’ toys all tucked in with everything else.

Evidently one of our cats decided to take the rattle to bed with her. She sometimes likes to carry those rattle balls around in her mouth so she can play with them in the exact place that she wants. What a nice surprise to find. :)

Spring Is Here

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Yup, spring is here….supposedly. The weather is changeable outside. The weather inside is, thank God, controlled.

We spent the night wondering if a tornado would touch down near us, waiting for lightening to strike, and hearing the rain. The rain is really needed at this time, so many are glad for its presence. It is still not time to order any pool supplies for the up and coming summer, yet. However, the way that time seems to fly these days, it won’t be too long. The farmers in this area have been waiting for rain, I just hope that they do not get flooded out. In other places, they seem to have had too much rain and are in danger of severe flooding.

Everywhere people are sneezing and coughing from allergies. That also describes my husband and I together. Yes, spring has finally shown. It just remains to be seen what type of spring will be showing up.

Chew, Chew, Nip, Nip

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

It might be a strange way to title an article, but it is true.

The little cat that we have knick-named “Internet Kitty’ likes to tuck my husband in at night and when he takes a nap. She will lead him to the bedroom, and wait for him to get ready for bed. When he is finally in bed and ticked up, she will proceed to ‘tuck’ him in herself.

She tugs on the blankets at his toes and pulls upward. Then she walks up him and makes sure the blankets are up near his neck. After that she will go back to his feet and nip at his feet, so he will make room for her. This is a routine that has been going on for a few years now.

The only problem with that is, she will also nip his toes for him to wake up and play. :)

Ain’t It Wonderful ?

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Yes, well, you might wonder what it is that I am talking about. I am talking about being able to breathe with having to sniffle, cough, hack, all sorts of disgusting things.

I am so glad to finally be free of that mess that I have found myself smiling A LOT.

Of course, that makes the people around me wonder what it is that I am up to. I think that I like that, too. :)

I can sleep again

Friday, March 20th, 2009

With all of the coughing that has been going on around home lately, the lack of sleep has been apparent for both of us.

That flu we went through made havoc with all of our systems. We try to lay down to sleep and coughing and hacking would awaken us, and we would be more tired than ever. I am so glad that the flu is gone. I have no desire to miss the flu vaccine the next time it comes around.

With the lack of sleep, it has gotten me to wondering how one of those sleep number beds would work. I like the idea that a person could vary how soft or hard the bed would be. I wonder how much those things cost. We use memory foam on top of the regular bed right now. It did make a big difference. Oh well, time will tell in the long run. I am just so glad to finally get sleep again.

Funny Video

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Just saw a funny video on You Tube.

I would title this one “Sale“. Howie Mandel went to see his son. The man was buying something and got it at a cheaper price than at other places, and with free shipping.

The kicker of this video that made me laugh was at the end. Howie asked his son what credit card he used, and his son answered - yours. The look on Howie’s face was priceless. I love see things that use humor in a good way. Instead of putting someone down, or being nasty about it. This video was cute. (Howie is cute, so is his son, too) :)
