Help, Hints, Ideas

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Welcome back!

There are a lot of web-sites that contain lots of helpful hints and other ideas. I have heard some that are truly amazing, and some that sounded weird. I remember one way to get bubble gum out of carpeting involved the use of peanut butter. It works, sounds weird, but works.

You can get on the internet and find anything from soup and different ways to make it to how to get rid of acne, to how to make money. I am not really sure of that last one, if it worked so well, why do they need to get on the internet and charge for the information?

Any way, ideas abound all over the place. :)

Tell Me A Story

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Soap Operas. Stories, supposedly about someone else’s everyday life. The writers tell a story each time, it does not need to make sense, but people watch anyway.

So, tell me a story. If it were to be true to life, no one would watch. Some of the story lines are very far out. Who am I kidding, most of the story lines are far out. Some are in outer space.

Even TV programs at night can get to be soap operas. Reality shows do not really show reality since the people know that they are being filmed, or videoed. I like books. If I don’t like a ’scene’, I just turn some pages and the scene changes. Can’t do that with TV. Yes, I like stories. I enjoy being entertained. Many of us do enjoy that, too.

Games 9

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Yes, it was only a couple of days ago that I wrote about a game. Here is another. It is called UNFOLDING.

Each stage gets more and more complicated. You will see a puzzle made of dots connected to lines which cross. You are supposed to unfold each puzzle until no lines cross each others.

Remember, each game stage gets more complicated. Enjoy. :)

Games 8

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

It has been a while since I wrote about a game that I enjoy.

Well, this one, I had been using a hand-held device to play. It finally quit when the screen lost its touch sensitivity. GRRRRR, so much for touch screens. This game is SUDOKU and it is very addictive.

It uses logic and memory skills to place the numbers in the correct place. Try it, you might get hooked, too. :)

Touch Screens

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Have you noticed that everything is coming out in touch screens these days?

I have an item that uses a touch screen and I have found that it does have a serious drawback. I had left it out in our car and it got hot. Now the screen no longer responds to touch in a number of places. I have no idea how to fix that problem.

Since this device is a Sudoku hand held device, I am frustrated by the inability to play it any more. I was wondering, is there a way to fix it or am I out of play? I want my game back. :(

What is it?

Monday, May 18th, 2009

What is it? I used to ask my mom that question a lot when I was young. There were many things that I learned about. I was young after all. I wasn’t born like I am now. No descriptions will be given…ahem.

Anyway I have heard about term life insurance. What is the difference in one type of insurance and another? I have heard of term life, whole life, mortgage……hunh? You can learn about learn about term life insurance quotes, whole life insurance, and other types of insurance. If you find a good site, they will also explain what those definitions mean. I like words. I have an education (some of it I do not use), and in my mind are a lot of words and their definitions. I use slang, I can use fancy words, but plain speaking always seem the best. So do not be afraid to ask questions. It is always good to understand what it is that you are looking for and at. :)

Where did it start?

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

I mentioned a Strawberry Daquari Ice. Now, I am thinking, where did it start?

I figure that a Pina Colada probably started in the tropics somewhere, but strawberries? How far would someone have to travel to get there and what about getting travel insurance online in order to go?

Knowing the way that things happen, I would only need to travel to the southern part of the US for something about strawberries. At least going to the origin of the Pina Colada could get me to the Bahamas or even Hawaii. :)

Instant Laugh

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Have you ever had something just trigger your laugh button? You know, you look at something and the next thing you know is that you are laughing?

It happens to me sometimes. One of the last times was just today. A friend needs someone to drive her to the doctor since she is in considerable pain all of the time, and I like to go along and try to cheer her up. Well, after the doctor visit we went to a nearby restaurant that has happy hour. They have a snack bar with different things on it for free, and all that you do is pay for what you are drinking. Whether it is a diet soda or something else, the food is free. The drinks are at a reasonable price, too.

Well, I do not drink alcohol (being diabetic) but I do get curious over the fancy types of cocktails that some people will get, so I asked for a Strawberry Daquari Ice with no alcohol. When I looked at the ticket it was called a ‘virgin’. When I read that I found myself laughing because I hadn’t expected to see that word on the ticket. Fresh strawberries, crushed ice and very tasty. How amazing that it also came with a laugh, too.:)

Remember me

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Well, remember the toe that I mentioned?

It has changed. At first it got ugly, red, swollen, painful. Now, it no longer has a toe nail.

I am on antibiotics and am wearing a bandage over the offended toe. The foot doctor figured out it was an ingrown nail and the best way to get the infection totally out was to ‘uncap’ the toe. My nail will grown back. It does feel better and no longer throbs.

Meanwhile, I have found that there are a lot of things that you can bump with you toe when you do not think about it. What a learning experience. Instead of being barefoot in the house, I wear a slipper on one foot in order to protect my toe. At least I have toes and feet, and can walk. Life goes on. :)

Sore Toe Time

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Can’t believe it. Of all the things that have gone on lately, I now have a sore toe.

I have no idea what has caused it, but there it is. It is not obvious what happened to it, but I will be seeing the doctor tomorrow, so I will get the chance to figure out what happened then.

Our doc is a really nice guy. He has shown a good sense of humor in many different ways, and listens to us and answers questions that we have. I have heard of some that seem to think that they are next to God. UG We are very glad that we do not have one of those stuffed heads overseeing our health.
