Boom Da Da Boom

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Welcome back!

Have you ever heard those rolling boom boxes that are called cars? You can hear them a block or so away. I always wonder how the occupants keep from losing their hearing.

This ain’t about that. :)

We just went through a lightning storm that kept the sky lit for miles around. We were blessed that no lightning bolts hit near us. The rattle and boom went on for hours. I was so tired, believe it or not, that I slept through it all. My husband told me about it later.

He also told me that we had been under a tornado watch at the same time. It didn’t happen. I slept, the world around my town got wet. It happens.

Car sold !

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

We have a 1993 Chevy Cavalier Station wagon. It runs great, is easy on the gas mileage, and my husband and I feel like sardines when we are sitting it in.

We are both big people, he stands at 6 foot tall. The car will take us places, but I do not like feeling like a sardine. We could take Liporexall and try to lose weight, but that wouldn’t help my husband with his height.

One of the ladies from church is interested in it and I believe that we have it sold. The money from its sale will be set aside to hopefully get a motorcycle for my husband. He has been at a loss since he hasn’t had a bike in a while. I hope that everything goes in a smooth manner, and I hope that this lady and her kids will find the car a blessing. It did bless us for a while, even though it was tight quarters when we were in it. :)

I’m hungry

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Yes, with a title like I have for my blog, I am hungry. Right now, I have a pot on the stove with green pepper (fresh) cooked into BBQ sauce and with Polish sausages cut up into it. I have been waiting for my husband to wake up, and then we can both eat. Yum.

Of course, this is not diet food, and it is not like I will take some diet pill before eating. I am still hungry and have not yet figured out what else to eat. After all just sausages alone do not make a meal. Fries would go good with the meat and sauce, so would a salad, or some other veggies. I think that the fries will win, however. Looking forward to lunch. :)

Kudos

Two things happened today. One bad, one was good.

Got a flat in an unexpected way. Hit and curb and hsssss - yuk. The good that happened happened at the gas station that was right there at the corner where the bad happened.

I pulled in when I heard the hssss. My rim was severely damaged, my tire flat. One of the ladies working there came out and asked if we were okay and what happened. She later told us that this particular corner claim many victims. She invited my husband and brother into the store and gave them some coffee - free. She told us not to worry about needing to park there and said if we needed to sit inside we were welcome. The mager of the store also told us the same and warned us about the corner and the reverse side of the street because it does the same thing to vehicles.

The kindness and compassion shown by these wonderful people (all 3 of them) is a wonderful way to show the good quality of the people who work for the Exxon Corporation.

The store is:
TRAVELMART #18
3002 Thornton Lane
Temple, Texas 76502
(254)771-3744

I believe that if a person has something good to say about someone, it should be said. Too many times only the bad is heard and that is not fair. Kindness, compassion, and concern are to be treasured when those qualities are shown by people. :)

Hunh?

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

I hear all types of alphabetic letters for different things. I recently heard about PS3. My response was hunh?

Well, I guess that i am not really up to the times. It happens. :)

I finally figured out that it has to do with Play Station 3 games. Oh, Yeah….
Some of the younger people might say - DUH! Well, I am learning here. Do you realize that you should never stop learning. If a 55 year old, opinionated, fat broad who is analog can learn how to blog, I guess it ain’t too late. Yes, I am familiar with some slang terms. My head isn’t all that gray, yet. :)

I’m concerned

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

Yes, I am concerned. My mother-in-law is in her 70’s. She is getting very shakey in her movements.

Recently she has gotten help from the state with a housekeeper, and a nurse who come by several times each week to help her. That is great, but I am still concerned. She is shakey enough that I find myself wondering which bathroom safety products she might need next. So far, she has a handrail attached to the tub for her to hold onto as she gets in and out. If she didn’t live in an apartment, I’d think about her getting a special tub that is more of a shower with low sides, but since it is an apartment, we are limited.

She does not want to go into a nursing home, and I do not blame her. She ended up there once when her blood sugar got out of sight. The hospital wanted her to go through re-hab to get in better shape. We keep track of her and call her and visit her often. However, we are not there in her home.

She recently got one of those necklaces that she can wear around her neck in case she falles and needs help. Thank God for that.

Hey, that is for the other cat !

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Yes, I have said that many times. Sometimes, pets can be just like kids in that they do not want to share toys, plates, people, pillows…..the list goes on.

Just yesterday, I found myself saying the title phrase to our youngest cat. She is 3, the older (much smaller) cat is 6, and very jealous. Well, I had put out some food for the both of them and found one eating some from both sides. I guess she was putting her mark on both. The other cat was asleep and didn’t see this happening.

With cats, dogs, what ever type of pet, you have some of the same kinks that can be found with siblings, but charges for going to college, though. At times, it can be hilarious.
