I have nuts

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

Welcome back!

No, I did not say that I am nuts. Although, there are some of my friends that might think otherwise.

What I am referring to is that I have some nuts that I am going to plant. I want a tree outside of the front of our apartment. The landlord let me plant a small red bud tree there previously, but the drought killed it. It is not like I am wanting some preschool furniture from the lumber that will result, I just want shade in the mornings.

A tree would be wonderful. I was sad when the red bud died. I had been looking forward to having it bloom and be beautiful, oh well. I am going to try again. A friend gave me some nuts (acorns) from a tree where he lives. The tree itself is a live oak and it is shedding its nuts all over the place. I hope that at least one will grow and make a tree that will last for a long time. :)

Sandbox Kid

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

We have 2 cats.

For those who have been here before that is NOT news. One thing that I do have to say is that we also have ‘The Sandbox Kid’ in the house. She gets into the litter box and then - plays in the sand.

It does not feel too good to walk barefoot in the hallway with litter on the floor. If you ever want to see a fat broad do the 2 step rather quickly, spread littler when the lady is barefoot.

We now keep a broom stationed permanently in the hallway right near the littler box. This little kitty loves to play in it when the litter has not been used. I have no idea why, it just gets all over the floor. I guess a dustpan would also be good. OW

Well, now

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Remember the last article about food allergies? We found another one. He ate some frozen TV dinners and voila again with the allergies. He ended up in the emergency room and several hours were lost along with the chance to go to church that morning. At least he is alive right now and no longer itching.

We could use Myrtle beach vacation rentals and get out of town and go relax. Except for running into some more allergies. I only have 4 that i know of.

I even carry a list of allergy symptoms in my purse in case something happens. It has happened many times, and so far, he survives. We eat cautiously when we go out. Once a small piece of spice cake sent him to the ER. It has been a learing experience for both of us.

He’s Itching

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

The allergies strike again.

My husband has a list of allergies that is as long as my arm. He is allergic to medicines, foods, seasonings, and on top of it all some pollens. OY VEY

I’ve heard of allergies to peanuts, milk (he’s one of them), wheat, etc. Blueberries is the newest one. Add to that also blackberries, and AZO. I have checked out some sites for Food Allergies.

If you copy and paste these sites that I have listed, you can begin your own research on food allergies. Recognizing an allergic reaction in someone can save a life. It might even be your own. Please do not be afraid to do research.

In our 26 years of marriage, we have found that my husband is allergic to almost 30 different things so far.

Online problems

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

When I go online, I use our cell phone as the modem.

I never realized that could be a problem. Everything goes fine, and then zap, a phone call. What ever I was loading on the computer is now lost and I have to start again. Of course when it is my mother-in-law calling and she wants to talk about something, she will keep calling and calling. So each time that I start to reload, I end up reloading each time she calls. She knows that the phone is used for this, yet she will say each time that she does not know.

Aggravating is mild to what I feel when this happens. We have voice mail and will get back to her, but she does not care, she keeps calling and calling which causes problems. She has been told this so many times and yet each time she will say that she did not know that. Hunh, yeah right. It is almost as if she has an inbuilt radar to know when to call to interrupt something. That is why I have to do online things at horrible hours of the morning or night and even then there is no guarantee that she will not call.

Sometimes it can be amazing just how her memory can be so convenient in what she remembers, and what she does not remember. Since it is a cell phone, each call counts against a total number of minutes and yet she will call, hang up and call right back to talk about something else that could have been dealt with the first time. I am not being paranoid about this. There are days when she has called every 5 minutes to talk about nothing but junk. When told that we have limited numbers of minutes each time she will say that she did not know. This has gone on for years, and yet she will say she did not know. OY Her memory is such that she will remember things that are important to her easily, but when it comes to things that are NOT important to HER, she will not remember. Yes, I am blowing off steam here and griping. I’ve got to do it somewhere, because she will not listen to either me or to her son. Thank you for your time and for ‘lending an ear’/

Rights - yours + mine

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Lately I’ve seen things that make me wonder about what has happened to our rights as US citizens. The Constitution has many parts to it. One of those parts is called the Bill of Rights. This was written to ensure that we as Americans do not have the same troubles that caused our forefathers to leave their homes and seek out a new land. They wanted to get away from the abuse of power that was going on at their old country.

These rights were written to make sure that our country was not taken over and run by any dictator. These rights were written to protect us and to help keep us safe.

Today there are so many new laws that it is hard to keep track of what has been written. We as citizens need to keep aware of what is going on around us so that we are not caught unaware. Our system is not perfect. It never has been, but our system is the reason that I am able to write what I feel and what I believe. Yes, many times I write about things that have made me snicker and laugh. Those things can be important when there are bad things happening around me.

I must admit that there are times that I do not seem aware of the politics of modern life. I still enjoy the freedom that i have however. I do try to appreciate that I do have these freedoms and more. I guess that sometimes I just need to remind myself so that i do not take it all for granted. After all many have died to insure that I can write about cats, laughter, politics, medicine, and most importantly of all OPINIONS.

How about you? What freedoms do you appreciate?

Sitting on it again

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

I believe that before I had mentioned that we have 2 cats….yes?

Did I also mention that one sat on the head of the other when the other was being very buggy?

Well, the sitter has decided to strike again. She wanted to sit near me and get some attention. I wanted to hold her higher and snuggle since she is very cuddly. Well, she decided that she was comfortable where she was and sat on my hand and wrist. Since she weighs nearly 10 pounds, my hand was rather weighed down..When I tried to life her, she pushed with her front legs and made herself heavier.

She sat on it again ! This time, it was my hand and wrist.
