Yup, that’s my name

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Welcome back!

I come by the name of Two Ton Tilly honestly.

I am very well cushioned and I am not blind. Of course you can tell by the name on my blog and what I write that I have a sense of humor, too. I know that some would recommend a diet supplement to add to my daily meals to abbreviate this situation.

Hmmm, I do not know about that. I do like to eat. I have only a few things that I do not like. Anchovies, jalapenos, oysters…to me they are just ew. I have had artichokes. Too much work for what you get. They taste okay, but to much work. Broccoli is cool. Just got some today, and thinking about it for tomorrow. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

He’s getting older

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

I know that my husband is getting older. I need to think about getting some of the best multivitamin for men for him.

He has had surgery and is now recovering nicely. The pain that he was in is fading and the soreness is getting smaller and smaller. Soon he will not be having pain from the operation and he will be fully recovered.

We are both looking forward to that day will glee. We had both been worried about the operation since it was located in a very person place. He made it through and now is on the downhill side of it. :)

Rock & Snore

Monday, January 11th, 2010

How’d you like that title? Well, that is what my husband was doing earlier to day. :)

He kept telling me that he was sleepy and tired and was going to go to bed. Okay, he is still recovering from the hospital stay. I kept waiting for him to get up and go, but…….when I looked over at him he was rocking from side to side and snoring as if his head was on the pillow.

Well, laughter did not wake him up and I figured that a quote from carinsurancelist.com wouldn’t wake him up either.

I finally got his attention, he said hunh and all that it did was to make me laugh harder. He finally bumped his way to bed and is now snoring gently and sleeping.

After the hospital

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

After his stay in the hospital, my husband is happy to be home. He has good insurance, otherwise we would be looking up some health insurance leads rather desperately.

As it is, he is spending a lot of time sleeping. Me too for that matter. Hospital stays are not my real cup of tea. The chairs that are available for the visitor to sit in are not designed for comfort. Even if some of them do tilt and lift up at the foot. My back=side will take a while to return to normal. My feet and ankles were rather swollen, my eyes looked rather bloodshop. As for the state of my mental health. I found myself repeating over and over again - coffee is my friend.

I just hope that I didn’t sound like a zombie. (Even if I felt like one.) :b

Shoo fly

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

There once was a song that said - shoo fly, don’t bother me, shoo fly….. I also heard there was such a thing as shoo fly pie.

Don’t ask, I don’t know. What they have in them ?? Who knows maybe they have the kitchen sink, or a lot of stuff that you can carry in shoulder bags. There are some called BCBG Max Azria. I have no idea what the letters stand for, but the bags do look as if they would be nice to carry. I myself carry a purse that weighs about 10 pounds. I try to keep it from weighing 15 pounds. It is not easy because I like to carry a lot of stuff with me. That is why I call my purse a battle bag. With it, I am prepared for battle. I used to make my own purses, but I had a tendency to make them too big. Which is how they weighed so much. Let’s face it, pliers, screwdrivers and stuff do weigh a lot. :)

And yes, I did need that stuff many times.

35 Hours

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

My husband has had his surgery. He came through it with flying colors, until he had 2 seizures in the recovery room.

The doctors decided to keep him for observation. So, around 6 pm he finally got a room and I was able to join him. He got a little sleep, but it was rough since he was having cramps and nausea. I tried to help through the night with getting him clear fluids and jello. He was craving coffee of course. He has drunk the stuff since he was 4 years old.

Since I was not at home, I could not use my breathing machines to sleep. (I have severe sleep apnea). I might get 5 minutes, but then awake with my heart racing and a very light headed feeling. We kept waiting until the doctors came in and even then they were not sure about him going home. Evidently they were not sure if the seizures were as a result of the medicine from the anesthesia, or were a sign of something else.

When they kept giving him physical tests about coordination, it finally sank in that they were making sure that he had not had a clot, or stroke. Finally they figured out that it was all of the stress that he’d had over the last two months from the beginning of November.

They gave us the good news that he could go home, and we went home. After 35 hours without any proper sleep, I was grumpy and a little punch drunk. God was good and we made it home and finally to our very own lumpy bed. YAHOO ! We had our life back.

Through this happening, I learned that caffein and cheddar cheese are my friends. :) Did I mention a little punch drunk? snicker…..

Heart Troubles

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

I have figured out why some of the tests were run on my husband.

He has heart trouble. He had a stent put in back in 2001. He has had heart attacks, and wears a nitroglycerin patch every day. If I had the money, I would purchase a device that could save his life, or someone’s else’s life.

It is called AED, or ARTIFICIAL EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR. They come in different sizes and with different costs. The link that I put in my article showed some that cost 1245$, and some that cost more. Those things are disigned that they can be used by someone who does not have any training at all, and they could be used to save a life.

On another note….

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

When we had gone to the doctor’s office the other day, I found a newspaper to read. It is called SENIOR NEWS. This was the January edition. I was scanning it for information that might be interesting (even though I do NOT consider myself to be a senior..snort) I found some jokes in it that were funny. Here is one of them….

compiled by Susan Capps

An elderly man in Florida had owned a large farm for several years.
He had a large pond in the back, fixed up nice: picnic tables, horseshoe courts, a volleyball court, and some apple and peach trees. The pond was properly shaped and fixed up for swimming.
One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond and look it over. He grabbed a five gallon bucket to bring back some fruit. As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. As he came closer, he saw it was a bunch of young teenage girls skinny-dipping in his pond.
He made the women aware of his presence, and they all went to the deep end.
One of the women shouted to him, “We’re not coming out until you leave! Go away you dirty old man!”
Holding the bucket up he said.” I’m here to feed the alligator.”

Old men can still think fast.

I read this aloud to my husband and he , of course, snickered. A nearby young man joined in and said that the old farmer wasn’t fair. My reply was that it was HIS land, and the girls were trespassing on it. He did mention any possible tresspassing signs, but my reply was that the girls knew that THEY did not own the land. Either way, my husband and I thought the joke was funny. After all, the girls did get off easy with only a little embarrassment, the farmer could have brought a shotgun to hunt. :)

While Waiting

Monday, January 4th, 2010

While I am waiting, I wonder how people will be notified about someone who is done with their surgery.

I do not know if they will use call center outsourcing, paging, personal contact, PA announcements, or your guess is as good as mine. We have been to the Day Surgery Unit before, for both of us. I went to have an umbilical hernia repaired, he went to have an inguinal hernia repaired. Both times the repair worked and there was no more trouble with the operation site.

This time, they will use lasers to do what is needed. They call it tissue vaporization. EWW At least i know that he will be under full anesthesia while this is going on. He isn’t the only one who is getting nervous.

I have noticed that if it was something for myself, I do not feel as concerned as I do for someone else in the same situation. I hope that does not mean that I am weird, though. :P
