Water Filters

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Welcome back!

I used to use a water filter on the faucet in the kitchen sink.

It sure did make the water taste better than it did originally. Our town has extremely hard water and you can taste it in the water itself. Did you know that if you have a refrigerator that will serve water on the tap, it too will need a http://www.waterfilters.net/Refrigerator-Water-Filters.html to filter the water before you drink it?

Never thought about it one way or another until now. When I was having trouble with kidney stones, I used to wonder why the doctor told me to drink bottled water. After I got a test kit to test our water and found out that it was extremely hard, I understood.

Who needs all of that extra minerals going through our kidneys? Not me, that’s for sure. I later found out that the stones that were in my body were from too much uric acid, and not from minerals and calcium. I still do not like the taste of our tap water, though. :)

To Smoke, or Not to Smoke

Monday, June 28th, 2010

That is the question. I do not smoke. Have some friends that do. That’s life.

However, there are some new rules going around in this part of the country that I do not like. Politicians are trying to tell businesses whether or not to allow smoking in those areas. That choice should be left to the individual businesses to determine.

The next thing that I know the politicians will try to make rules against the electronic cigarette that some people are using. They already try to tell us what we can and can not eat. I mean what is with this people. Don’t they have enough to do without trying to mess with our individual lives. If the owner of a place does not want smoking, fine. If they do want smoking, fine. Put a notice on the door that says smoking allowed here. If non smokers do not want the smoke, they do not enter. SIMPLE, right………….not with politicians.

Can you guess that I am not fond of politicians? :)

Tired

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Yup, it is that time again.

Have you ever noticed that when you get tired, that is when all of the stuff seems to happen?

I do not know about you, but I am not really into the hustle and bustle that goes with keeping up with the ‘Jones’. I have heard that people are lining up in droves to get this or that which happens to be coming out. I just want to get along without fuss. There is a lot going on over here at the apartment complex. The owner will be doing some upgrades on the apartments that are required by the government.

I have no idea why, the apartments are very nice, but Uncle Sam wants this, that, and the other thing. He does not care about the upset that is being caused for the senior citizens effected. I have seen people giving away things that they really want to keep, and putting out for the trash man, some things that they do not want to throw away.

Government seems to be a big pain in the a**. I wish that the government men responsible for this stuff would have to go through it the same time that everyone else does. See how those people ‘in charge‘ like the hubbub.

Time to work

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

I thought that when the apartment inspection wsa over, that we could rest for a couple of days.

Nope, still need the work gloves. Evidently we have to pack up everything here for when they are going to paint, and do other stuff for the apartment.

It is frustrating to me because I do not get enough rest as it is. I would dearly enjoy being able to wave a wand and have everything do its own packing while I watched and guided it all.

AIN’T going to happen. PHOOEY :(

Do Not Call

Monday, June 21st, 2010

I have been on the Do Not Call list for years.

That however, does not stop bothersome people from calling. There is something that you can do about it. I made a link in the sentence at the beginning of this blog, where the words ‘Do Not Call list’ are put. If you click on it, it will take you to the official site to take care of such things.

On the Road Again

Monday, June 21st, 2010

No, I am not talking about Willie Nelson’s song. However, it does have a point here.

I had mentioned that a friend of ours had a break-down in his bike and was stranded here where we live. He was able to get it fixed and was then able to get back home safe and sound. :)

Mattress

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

After years of sleeping on a mattress that needed its own rest, we have a new mattress.

It is not as big as the other one, but it is not broken down on one side leading my husband to roll off of the bed in his sleep.

Hearing the thump and grunt as he falls had gotten to be a regular thing.

NO MORE NOW ! :)

Stranded

Monday, June 14th, 2010

We have some friends who came up from New Braunfels, Texas. They cam up on his motorcycle as it is their only way to have transportation. It is in trouble.

A couple of mechanics have told him that he needs to put in a new jet kit. That kit alone costs almost 90$, and then there is the cost of the mechanic. They now have only the money for gasoline to get back home, and they are not able to use the bike for it will burn itself up if they try.

We are not the only ones who are in need concerning the transportation that we have available.

We went to the local food pantry today and found out that they are running out of food. One of the ladies came out and asked another why she is there today since there is nothing for her to do since everything is running out. How can our politicians say that everything is getting better when people are going hungry, becoming homeless, getting stranded, and there is no one there to help?

IF everything is so rosy, if you listen to Obama, why are the food pantries running out of food, and there is no help for travelers, and people losing their homes. It would be nice if the politicians would get their heads out of the sinking sand and actually look around at what is REALLY going on. They

    must

be blind.

Joint

Friday, June 11th, 2010

That’s right. Just the word joint.

I found out that some friends that we know, who also happen to know about vehicles, think that the constant velocity joint in our van needs some work.

My first thought was HUH? I know, I know, not very intelligent sounding. However, being told that something with that name could put our van out of commission kind of stunned me at first. Since then, I have been trying to think of someone who would be willing to work on a front wheel drive van that is from 1989.

Not very many people have volunteered the information that they might know what to do in that case. I didn’t even ask for a volunteer to do any work for free, just looked for someone who knew how and would be willing to be thought of as a mechanic in this case. Especially when I told them that the van was a Dodge, they would get this kind of distant look in their eyes and then they would kind of mumble.

I found out that Dodge likes to make their vehicles with one-of-a-kind type of nuts and bolts that need special tools. The tool would cost more that our van might be worth in money. We NEED this van however since 4 people rely on it. Some of those people have bad heart troubles, diabetes, arthritis, and other stuff going on. So, the old van is important. Now what? Still thinking……..

Games 11

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Yup, here I go writing about another on-line game.

I have a few favorites of course, but this is one of those that I keep going back to. It is called Yeti Bubbles. The sound effects are hilarious. The music, I usually turn off while I play away. Then I get hear the Yeti scratch his rump! (snicker) Okay, okay, I know that I am not 8 years old anymore, but I still have a wacky sense of humor. :P
