Found out something

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

Welcome back!

Recently our church had some question over a water pipe.

I found out that the pipe that was in the ground was not the correct type. It was a flex pipe, not metal hose, not PVC, not any type of approved pipe that can be used for water.

I realize that for things like gas, and oil, you have to use a special type of pipe for safety’s sake. Little did I know that even for a pipe in the ground for watering your yard, or your livestock, it also has to be a certain type that is approved by the local building inspector.

Live another day and learn something new. That’s life.

After Christmas

Monday, December 26th, 2011

I realize that after Christmas, many people are at the store returning, or exchanging what they ha gotten as presents.

One way to avoid that is to get something special. Getting personalized gifts for her, or for him helps. If you know the types of things that someone wants, or something very specific, it does save a lot of hassle.

I am fortunate in that my tastes are simple and I like almost every thing that I have ever received. In fact I remember one Christmas I received blocks of plain paper, crayons, tape, scissors, and lots of coloring pencils. I had a ball. :)

Decorations - beads

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

When making decorations, there are a lot of different types of beads that can be used.

I, myself, make jewelry sometimes and use many types that are a mixture of glass, metal, wood, and ceramic.

Of course if I could afford Swarovski Crystal beads, that would make a wonderful difference in the type of jewelry. I have seen little figurines that were made of crystal and they were magnificent. All that I can say is have fun. That, after all, is the point of doing crafts. Why do it if it isn’t fun? :)

Houses for rent

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

Where we live here in Central Texas, apartments are sometimes hard to come by. When people get an apartment and are happy with it and the people around it, they hold onto to it.

The next thing that someone might do is look for houses for rent. Paying rent on a house will help the house owner, and give another option to the persons looking for a place to live.

Of course since we live within 50 miles of Fort Hood military installation, rentals do not come cheap. If you are looking for a place, do not give up, it is probably out there somewhere.

It’s coming

Saturday, December 10th, 2011

Yup,. it is coming. Valentines day is coming, Christmas is coming, New Year’s Day is coming and so is Easter.

All of these holidays are on the way. Thanksgiving has passed, my tummy is still happy. Of course, pumpkin pie is also good for Christmas. For me, that type of pie is good all of the time.

It has been a while since I have had mincemeat pie. I still miss it, along with snow. :)

E-mails, websites, stuff

Sunday, December 4th, 2011

Well, another holiday is around the corner again.

Some are thinking about getting gifts for people, others are thinking about food, others are thinking about decorations. Of course with all that is going on, people will write about what is going on at their home.

I sit here and work at a desktop computer that sometimes gets stubborn. I makes me want to think about other things like: a new computer, a laptop, refurbished netbooks even if such a thing would work. I guess it is time for me to do another disc clean to clear out some old memory stuff. Talk to you later. :)

Family History

Sunday, December 4th, 2011

Because of the loss of my husband’s mom, we have inherited some of the family rings.

It has made me think about how jewelry changes over the years. Yes, there are still the regulation gold bands, even though they do have a little bit of difference in them, too.

Now rings can be made of different types of material. Not just gold any more. There are artcarved wedding bands, hand made rings, factory made rings, imported rings. The list could go on. Have you ever thought about the history of the family jewelry that you have?

Still Waiting

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

We have had some rain, but we are still waiting for some really good, long lasting rain.

The grass here in Texas seems to turn green at just the hint of wetness. Of course that means that we do not have any floods, which is wonderful for the safety of those who do not have motorhome insurance, or flood insurance.

At the same time, it is not so good for ranchers and farmers that need to water their animals or their fields.

I am still praying for a good, slow, long lasting rain that would last about 2 weeks. Flash floods need not appear. Slow rain is the best right now.

Winter is coming

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

Yup, winter is coming.

I have no idea just what type of winter we will have here in Texas. I have heard that up in the pan handle, they have already had some snow. I don’t know if they would have a need for snow tire chains, studs, or what not.

When I was growing up on St. Louis, Mo. all of the above were needed at one time or another. We would sometimes have trouble with power lines coming down, schools being closed, etc. Here in Texas, the winter have not been so severe as they were in Arkansas and Missouri. I do sometimes miss the snow….but only a little.

What day is it?

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

Sometimes I wonder what day it is. I check my cell phone for the time and sometimes for the date also.

Would having save the date cards help me to remember the date? I don’t know.

I have seen others check out their phones when in the check out to get the date and the time, just like me. I do not feel so silly when I see others having the same problem. At least it means that I am not alone with trying to keep track of the date. I sometimes even forget to wear a watch to keep track of the time.

Oh well, that’s life. :)
