Friend stopped by

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

Welcome back!

A friend stopped by just now and was frustrated that he ran out of money for cigarettes. I have no idea if electronic cigarettes would help him or not. I guess it all depends on how much they cost.

He was working outside today and when he took a break, he met someone new. A fox kit stopped by and watched him. He sat down and watched right back. He tried to get the kit to get close, but it didn’t. They sat that way and watched each other for several minutes. Long enough to really study him and note that its chest was slightly red and the rest of it was kind of gray. The smile on our friend’s face when he told us about it was really amazing.

How often do we get a chance to study real wild critters without an interruption? :)

Critters

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

I remember doing science when I was in school (please do NOT ask me when that was). I always figured that the textbooks that we used did not mention enough about critters of any type.

The behavior of critters and the behavior of people are sometimes so similar that it makes me wonder which of us is smarter. Biology was okay, but I did not like cutting up critters. I would rather have seen them alive and studied their antics.

Not enough information, maybe too little time was spent investigating living things, rather than the insides of dead things. After all living things are what we happen to be.

I Wonder…

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

I just mentioned earlier that I like to imitate animals. I wonder if there is a particular type of job search that could find me a job doing just that.

I have heard some of the sounds that are done for commercials, and they are too phony for words sometimes. When they have cat sounds on the commercials, our cats ignore it and go about their business. At least when I do cat sounds, they look and answer.

Does that make me weird? Maybe.

Frogs and Felines

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Strange combination, yes?

Well, I guess that might be. I like to do animal and other noises. Among those are….frogs and felines. You could also add turkeys, dogs, ducks…did I ever tell you that I have a weird sense of humor?

Well, if you didn’t know before then you know it now. I once even had my boss tell me that he was taking me hunting with him, just because of the turkey sounds. I don’t know about him, but I would rather have my turkey frozen than have to clean it myself. I am a city gal after all.

Brat Cat

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

Our cats are brats sometimes.

One of them has decided that she want to be in one particular place. It does not matter if there is something there when she moves in, she just knock the item off of the table.

I realize that she should not do that. But she looks at me with a very innocent expression. Almost as if she is saying - did I do that?

Have you ever noticed how cats can have the most amazing facial expressions? If you have ever been glared at by a cat, you know what I mean.

She Bit Me !!

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

I believe that I have mentioned before that we have cats.

Well, one has a ‘cattitude’. In other words, she is a cat with attitude.

She has this thing about being ignored. She does not like it. When my husband is getting dressed in our bedroom, she will do various things to get his attention. Well, yesterday she decided that she did not like me ignoring her and she bit me. Right on the rump.

When I hollered about her doing this, my husband broke down laughing and told me that she does it to him all of the time. Amazing how such a little critter can have so many little things that she does. She does make us smile. :)

I hate carpeting

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Well, maybe not totally. I just wish that someone else would have to vacuum it.

If we had floor tiles, all that we would need to do is sweep and mop once in a while. Spill would come up so much easier. Stains would not happen, and the floor would not stay soggy after a spill.

It sounds so simple doesn’t it? Well, we live in an apartment and are stuck with the carpet. HUMPH (No I am not a camel here)

I know that floor tiles come in a lot of different types and there are a lot of choices. Of course in the winter time, there is the matter of a possible chill to the feet. I don’t know. I am tired of having to vacuum. Besides, it is fun to watch the cats slide when they try to run fast on tile floors. :)

Surprise Gifts

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Sometimes I like surprises. Gifts are usually nice, too.

However, with cats in the house…….surprise can be almost anything.

The other night one of our cats kept bugging me and calling RANH, yes RANH, not meow, over and over again. I finally followed her to see what had her upset, and ended up getting slightly upset myself. She had evidently left a nice hairball on the covers of the bed and she wanted me to clean it up. For some reason, when these things occur, she want someone to know and clean it up so she cried out until we notice it. After that she is okay with it. Of course if you find the surprise by putting you hand in the middle of the cold, wet ’surprise’ you might not feel grateful at the time.

Later I feel grateful tht she notified one of us about the problem. Once my husband found a ‘gift’ in his western boot. Half of a small critter had been left for him to find with his toes. Well, I do not think I have ever seen that particular look on his face before. It was verrrrrrrry interesting. He can laugh about it now, but not then. I must say that pets do keep you on your toes when they are around. You never quite know what can happen next.

Sandbox Kid

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

We have 2 cats.

For those who have been here before that is NOT news. One thing that I do have to say is that we also have ‘The Sandbox Kid’ in the house. She gets into the litter box and then - plays in the sand.

It does not feel too good to walk barefoot in the hallway with litter on the floor. If you ever want to see a fat broad do the 2 step rather quickly, spread littler when the lady is barefoot.

We now keep a broom stationed permanently in the hallway right near the littler box. This little kitty loves to play in it when the litter has not been used. I have no idea why, it just gets all over the floor. I guess a dustpan would also be good. OW

Sitting on it again

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

I believe that before I had mentioned that we have 2 cats….yes?

Did I also mention that one sat on the head of the other when the other was being very buggy?

Well, the sitter has decided to strike again. She wanted to sit near me and get some attention. I wanted to hold her higher and snuggle since she is very cuddly. Well, she decided that she was comfortable where she was and sat on my hand and wrist. Since she weighs nearly 10 pounds, my hand was rather weighed down..When I tried to life her, she pushed with her front legs and made herself heavier.

She sat on it again ! This time, it was my hand and wrist.
