Well,well

Welcome back!

Of all of the weird things to happen, having my cat tell me to go to bed is at the top of the list for now.

I wanted to read a new book, but found it impossible to read when said cat decided to rest in the middle of my lap, but on top of the book.

I guess it is nap time.

It’s Me Again

Sunday, September 25th, 2011

Yup, it is me again. I have checked out a lot of different site on the web and sometimes I wonder just who is on the other end.

Well, I am a housewife who has been married for 28 years to a great, loving man. We have two cats who think they tell us what to do (like when to go to bed, etc.).

We both like to talk to people. I obviously have opinions and have shared them repeatedly. So far I have not managed to make anyone extremely grumpy, yet.

We have a bunch of folks who come by to visit and then sit and talk a while.

In other words- we is just folks. :)

Babies

Friday, February 25th, 2011

When I was younger, I used to dream about having babies. I would think of all the baby keepsakes, clothes (some of them are real cute), pictures.

Of course since then I have grown up and realize that sometimes things do not happen the way that we would think they should.

I do have a loving husband. We have a place to sleep, food to eat, pets that love us, transportation. We are doing okay so far.

EWWW !

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

Do you have a pet? If you do, then you know that they have opinions and are not afraid to let you know that they have them.

The other day, as I was occupied on the ‘throne’, I was told the opinion of one of our cats. She came in, visited me, sniffed, left, stopped by the litter box, sniffed, shook her tail, looked at me and then left.

The feeling I got is that the litter pan smelled better than me !?! Considering some of the odors that have come from that box, I am surprised that I was being criticized.

Neighbornood Watch Skunk

Monday, January 10th, 2011

This is something I had mentioned in an earlier article.

I will explain, now. At one time, my husband and I had lived in Arkansas in Batesville. We lived in an area that had a lot of trees, on a hill. One day, we looked outside and saw our solid black cat - Junior - playing with a critter. That critter was a skunk. They were bouncing up and down in the grass, once in a while rolling around with each other. Sometimes they would stop, bump noses, and then walk off together. Amazing :)

Once Junior wanted into the house, my husband opened the door to let him in. The cat stood across the threshold, meowed, and his buddy waddled into the center of the living room. I immediately froze and started to think about how much tomato juice would be needed to get rid of the stink. The skunk squeaked a couple of times, turned around, and then waddled back out without doing anything bad. Whew that had been close. Once my husband stepped out and accidentally stepped on its tail. No spray that time either. It even let him pet it a couple of times. We thought that it was someone’s pet. WRONG

A week later, we heard shouting, and then the cops showed up. Our neighbor caught someone trying to remove parts from his truck. There was the heavy scent of skunk in the air. The cops figured out that the skunk sprayed someone there at the truck and followed the scent through the neighborhood to the door of another neighbor. Her son was in the shower trying to get rid of the skunk scent. He was the thief. He went to jail, the skunk became a celebrity and a very well fed critter in our neighborhood. People would put out little bowls of fruit and nuts for the skunk, and later for his family.

We have since moved away from there and live in Texas. The people in that old neighborhood still put out food for the skunk family, they no longer have prowlers or trouble with thieves. They have a family of neighborhood watch skunks who have adopted everyone there as part of their litter. :)

Sunning Time

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

It has come to that time of the year again.

I call it sunning time. Since the weather is not as hot as it had been for a while, the cats like to get on the window sill and sun them selves.

Since one of them is mostly white, she shows up rather nicely when she does this. Of course when we leave the front curtains open, she choses to do this while on the back of the couch.

She does make a rather ‘glowing’ couch ornament. :)

Dirty Looks

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Have you ever heard of the old saying “if looks could kill”? There are many various meanings to that phrase. Helen of Troy had looks that men used as an excuse to kill hundreds, if not thousands “The face that launched a thousand ships”. There used to be an old saying about someone having the “evil eye” that made people afraid of being killed by a look.

Well people, cats have known about dirty looks for a long time. They are experts at the ‘dirty look’. One example was what happened a little while ago. One of our cats decided she needed the litter pan. I happened to see since I was on the ‘throne’ and stuck in one place for a while. As she positioned herself, my husband passed by and passed gas. The timing was superb in that respect. Her ears went flat, her eyes went half closed, and when she got out, she gave him a DIRTY LOOK. I wonder if she was thinking that she would be blamed for what he did? (snicker) :D

He is now under 300

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

He did not even need any weight loss programs either.

Of course, he spent all the time in misery, so his recent weight loss program was not very nice. He has learned to eat less, and avoid bending over to pick up anything from the floor.

Of course that means that I get to put out the wet food for our cats (that stuff makes you wish your nose was stuffed up), clean up any type of throw up that they have from hair balls, and clean out the litter pan. Of course I have been doing the litter pan for a while.

Do you realize that hair ball from cats can come in multiple colors? I know, strange question wasn’t it? :)

Friend stopped by

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

A friend stopped by just now and was frustrated that he ran out of money for cigarettes. I have no idea if electronic cigarettes would help him or not. I guess it all depends on how much they cost.

He was working outside today and when he took a break, he met someone new. A fox kit stopped by and watched him. He sat down and watched right back. He tried to get the kit to get close, but it didn’t. They sat that way and watched each other for several minutes. Long enough to really study him and note that its chest was slightly red and the rest of it was kind of gray. The smile on our friend’s face when he told us about it was really amazing.

How often do we get a chance to study real wild critters without an interruption? :)

Critters

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

I remember doing science when I was in school (please do NOT ask me when that was). I always figured that the textbooks that we used did not mention enough about critters of any type.

The behavior of critters and the behavior of people are sometimes so similar that it makes me wonder which of us is smarter. Biology was okay, but I did not like cutting up critters. I would rather have seen them alive and studied their antics.

Not enough information, maybe too little time was spent investigating living things, rather than the insides of dead things. After all living things are what we happen to be.
