Healing update

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Welcome back!

His arm is looking good. We recently had a regular doctor’s office visit and got a good report there. The incision on my husband’s arm is not looking infected, swollen or extremely irritated.

These are all good signs. He has not asked for any pain pills in a couple of days. The only time it gets sore now is when he forgets and tries to use it to lift something, or bumps it.

Soon he will be able to get the stitches out, and be able to use his arm again. :)

Soreness

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Yes, the cancer on his arm is gone. He is however having trouble with the soreness because of the operation.

I am thankful that the operation only took one cut to remove all of the cancer. The pain pills that my husband has are helping with the hurt, but the best way to get the hurt gone is for it to finish healing.

Health Care

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Health care these days is something that a lot of people are talking about. I realize that here in Texas where we live, Scott & White hospital has some plans that do help people. I have no idea about health insurance in nc.

Each state has its own regulations about how the plans will or will not cover you. I know that when my sister was still alive in Arkansas, those plans weren’t very good. It could be so much worse for us if we did not have the type of medical availability around that we need.

What will happen with the proposed new health care regulations - I have no idea.

What’s Up?

Monday, August 16th, 2010

What’s up?

The price of gas, the price of prunes, the price of food, the price of almost anything. That’s what’s up.

Heard that before? If you have to commute to do anything, you know all of this. Online Schools, are their prices up? I don’t know. How some people are surviving is amazing to me.

There are so many other countries that are in worse shape than ours is, yet I know that things are happening. I truly do not want things to get worse. Families with children are in fragile shape. I wish there was some way to put protection around them so the economy would not destroy them. The lists of things that families need to purchase for the kids to go back to school are amazing.

I am so fuzzy headed right now thinking about these things. How do they do it?

Relocate…

Friday, August 13th, 2010

I’ve thought about relocating, but the going rate on apartments right now is out of sight.

Where we are staying, the rent is based on the income of each renter. Otherwise, the rents would be over $500 for even a dump. We have wondered about getting steel buildings to put all of our stuff in, but since it is really hot right now, that would be a bad idea. Everything would be melted, or…..

I have to have air-conditioning, so does my husband, so living in a steel building is not the brightest idea for us, unless it was extremely insulated. Even then, we would have to have a lot to put it on. We will keep packing, anyway.

Saving money

Friday, August 13th, 2010

You know, if the apartment manager is smart, she will buy stuff at wholesale prices. At least that way she will be saving lots of money. It is bad enough that there will be a bunch of workers that will need to be paid.

Well, for them it isn’t bad since that means that they will be earning a living and being able to pay for their families and stuff, but the cost of having do 32 complete apartments has got to be amazing. Think about it. Paint x 32, electrical x 32, doors x 32, water heaters x 32, stoves x 32……

Glad I’m not paying that bill. Wish that we did not have to pack to get it done though.

Leaks

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Not at all what we need right now. I think that one of the faucets in the bathroom might be leaking and it definitely shows some corrosion.

The apartment complex will be undergoing renovation sometime, but I do not think that they will be using Kohler kitchen faucets or bathroom faucets anywhere in the complex. Usually those things are gotten in lots for more than just one apartment at a time.

I am still feeling grumpy about all of the ruckus that is going on with people having to pack and all of our routines getting upset.

What’s going on?

Friday, August 13th, 2010

There are things happening in our neighborhood that some do not like.

Gas is being taken out of gas tanks, some have had windows broken and cars rifled. I understand that the trash being gotten into and being scattered is being done by raccoons. But raccoons cannot get car doors open, or gas siphoned from tanks. I think that some security cameras might make the difference and tell people what is really going on. The raccoons have been actually seen by my husband and others. This other stuff, however, the culprit has managed to stay unseen. People in this neighborhood cannot afford to have expensive gasoline stolen, or things taken out of their cars.

We’ll see. :(

Fall?

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Isn’t August supposed to be in the fall, or nearly there?

I can’t tell it by this heat that we have going here in Texas. When fall comes, the leaves start to change, people start to shop for things they will need in the winter, snow boots, winter coats, yata, yata, yata. Well, I guess that it is not yet fall. If someone walked into a store and asked about any of those things the sales people would think they were totally nuts.

The weather people refused to say that it is going to have a slight cool spell, because the temperature will only drop from 100 to 99. That’s a drop? Who are they trying to kid?

Stroke

Monday, August 9th, 2010

There is a silent killer among us.

Those with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and other illnesses, should be made aware.

Strokes are not always easily seen, or recognized. There is a website that talks about strokes and some of the warning signs.

http://www.strokeinfo.org/?gclid=CJ7Lsef4raMCFZNg2godGXOtdQ

This is a link to the site. Please read about the warning signs, and then be aware of yourself, your family, and your friends. Don’t let this killer hurt any more unnecessarily.
