I Don’t Feel so Good

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I am not lying here. I really don’t feel so good.

i have a cold. Not the flu, thank God, just a cold. That is bad enough, though. My head is stuffy, I cough, I sniffle. YUK, ECHK me sad :(

Do I sound like I’m pouting? I should sound like that because I am. Right now, my typing….stinks. I have to keep backing up and correcting my typos, too. Things take longer that way. I am also having trouble thinking. I am taking something to make the symptoms easier. Anti-biotics will not help because the cold comes from a virus, and anti-biotics do not work on viruses.

So, I moan, whimper….and life goes on. How pitiful do I sound now (snicker in my head).:)

‘Tis the Season

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

With the problem that my sister is having with her leg, she will not be able to shop for any gifts for her family. I realize that many cannot afford to spend a lot for their families this year. I even wonder about businesses and any promotional business gifts that they might need to purchase to advertise their businesses.

I have heard a lot of different ways to handle things. One way to handle the idea of gift giving was to limit gifts to one per person. Try drawing names from a hat or bowl so that everyone will get at least one gift, and each person will only need to spend for one person and not a whole lot of people.

We personally will not be spending a lot because of so many things going on right now. What ever you do, try to avoid bankruptcy. That will not help any one. Most important, be with your families where ever and when ever you can. That in itself is a gift. :)

I’m Simmering

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

I guess that sounds better than saying that I am stewing. My sister lives in Arkansas. It has been called the ‘arm pit’ in the US concerning health care. I have no idea what the life insurance rates are for people that live there, but they must be high.

She is stuck AT HOME with a severe leg infection. The doctor who saw her stated that he cannot check her into the hospital because the medicine that he wanted to give her for the cellulitis, she is allergic to. I know there is more than just one type of injectable anti-biotic available.

I do not understand all of the road blocks that she has had to face there. I just do not understand.

It’s Raining

Friday, November 28th, 2008

It is ‘Black Friday’, and it is raining. I am so glad that we won’t be going out shopping.

My mother-in-law called and said that she ‘needed’ to go to WalMart. My first thought was YUK. I mean today should make that place a mad house. I do not want any part of that situation. My second thought was. why didn’t she want to go earlier this week when I asked? I do not know.

Then it started to rain….wheeeee ! Mom does not like the rain. So, it is raining and I am staying home. Besides, our car needed to be washed anyway. :)

Happy Thankgiving

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

I wanted to say - Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. We just spent the day at our niece’s home with family all around. This time I actually had a chance to contribute a lot to the food gathered for the dinner.

WE had many visiting family members that came and went, lot of laughter, food, kids, and fun. I wish everyone could have that type of day. There were no arguments from anyone. It was great.

I came from a family that only had 6 members. Mom, me, grandma, grandpa, 2 uncles and no one else - that was the whole family. Now I have my husband’s family which has members all over the place. I feel that is something to give thanks for. :)

Fall … please don’t

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

Fall does not mean that you should fall over. :)

However, fall to me means that the leaves change color, start to fall down to the ground, the weather gets considerably cooler. Holidays are coming. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentines day, Easter. I do enjoy all of these holidays. I also do enjoy the decorating that can come with them.

Right now, I have a new seasonal decoration on the front porch. It has a white tree skirt that is spread out, a Christmas wreath in the middle, and the words around it that say - It’s About Jesus. Too many times Christmas has been thought about as gifts, Santa, Reindeer….yada, yada, yada.

Christmas might not be the exact day of Jesus’ birth, but it is the time that had been set apart in order to celebrate it. Where have all of the manger scenes gone? What about the angels? Too many times Santa is shown (He does not exist by the way.) in a sleigh. Gifts are nice to receive, but how many families go bankrupt trying to out give others when it comes to Christmas presents? How many give them selves to their families all year round? How many only think of giving during the ‘Holiday Season”? Please don’t forget that the best present that you can give to your family is YOURSELF. It doesn’t cost much, just time.

This fall, why don’t you rethink about a different type of ‘fall’. Fall in love with your family again. It will be a gift that can grow. It’s growth wouldn’t hurt unlike the National debt that keeps growing. This fall…please don’t forget to give yourself to you family. :)

Smoking, or Not Smoking

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Many buildings these days are now marked as no smoking areas. Public buildings, private buildings. I have heard that there are even times that people want to make private homes no smoking areas. What ever happened to people having the right to choose?

I am not a smoker, but some of these laws bother me a lot. If a business wants to mark itself as a place where smokers are welcome, why can they not put up signs like that? Why do lawmakers want to define how private citizens live? Why do lawmakers feel they have to interfere in how private businesses are run? When has Big Brother ( George Orwell’s version) taken over private life? If people have the desire to pollute their own lungs, that is their choice. When the law makers interfere in private lives, they go too far.

Television

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

These days all we hear about is the coming change to tv everywhere. The digital change is coming, the digital change is coming, the sky is falling. OY VEY.

If people do not know about it by now, they must not watch tv at all. We have the converter box. The signal is not all that however. When we first tried it out, w got 15 stations. The picture kept breaking up and freezing, so we disconnected it and went back to the regular way of watching tv. Our favorite station was down for 2 WEEKS, so we tried the box again. We only got 3 stations this time, what gives? I heard that the digital change was supposed to be good - I can’t see it myself. ;/

Arg !

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

Yes, I did write ARG ! Have you ever had a dream about something, and when you wake up, want to write it down? However, when you get pen and paper together, you can’t remember what it was? It is enough to make a grown woman growl. Of course, when that happens, my husband looks at me as if I’d lost my mind.

Maybe I have, sort of. After all I lost that dream, where I put my glasses, what I went in to the bed room for, or any number of other things. When did my memory start to go, or get so many holes in it? I think I’ve not completely lost my mind, have I?

Can’t remember. At least I know that my brain is still somewhere inside my skull. After all I am able to hold intelligent conversation. Don’t know if anyone else would agree with me, but there it is.

I do know some of the answers on the TV program Jeopardy. HA ! That’s proof, ain’t it? I haven’t lost everything, yet. :)

Traveling

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Traveling is something that people do. Some more than others. At one time in my life, I had traveled to different parts of the country. It was fun, some times it wasn’t fun. The one thing that didn’t happen was me getting sick. For that I am thankful.

I never thought about getting travel medical insurance. So, I am glad to say that sickness didn’t come my way. How do people handle it when they travel and get sick? That is one thing I don’t know. Being at home and getting sick is hard enough, but to be traveling and get sick is something else that i wouldn’t want to think about. Trying to arrange to see a doctor, trying to get medicine, trying to get hospital care would all be nightmarish. When I had traveled a long time ago, there was no such thing as travel medical insurance. I am glad that it exists now for those who need it.
