Stranded

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Welcome back!

We have some friends who came up from New Braunfels, Texas. They cam up on his motorcycle as it is their only way to have transportation. It is in trouble.

A couple of mechanics have told him that he needs to put in a new jet kit. That kit alone costs almost 90$, and then there is the cost of the mechanic. They now have only the money for gasoline to get back home, and they are not able to use the bike for it will burn itself up if they try.

We are not the only ones who are in need concerning the transportation that we have available.

We went to the local food pantry today and found out that they are running out of food. One of the ladies came out and asked another why she is there today since there is nothing for her to do since everything is running out. How can our politicians say that everything is getting better when people are going hungry, becoming homeless, getting stranded, and there is no one there to help?

IF everything is so rosy, if you listen to Obama, why are the food pantries running out of food, and there is no help for travelers, and people losing their homes. It would be nice if the politicians would get their heads out of the sinking sand and actually look around at what is REALLY going on. They

    must

be blind.

Olympics

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

have you heard? When I last checked, the USA had 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals.

I couldn’t believe it when that young man lost his life just practicing for that sled event. I feel sorry for his family.

I hope and pray that no more young people have serious accidents happen while this event or any other event go on. It makes me wish that I had the money to get a room at one of the Toronto hotels, so I could be there in person and watch. These athletes practice so hard, and have worked for so long that they should be cheered on by anyone who watches. It is something that anyone from any country should be able to recognize and appreciate.

Why ?

Friday, November 6th, 2009

While the house was being cleaned, people were being killed.

We live only 30 minutes away from Fort Hood.

I called the husband of the lady who did the house cleaning. He told us to turn on the TV, that there had been a serious shooting at Fort Hood.

Why? There is no reason for doing something that horrible. I feel for the family members of anyone involved. Our neighbor has a son who works out there working on housing. He called his dad later and let him know that he was okay. There are a lot of people who got another type of call later that day.

I do not understand how anyone could do something like that. There is no reason for it.

Getting Nearer

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

The time is getting nearer. We should soon be on the road again.

We have been trying to get our van up and running again. It appears that will happen soon. We are both tired of not being able to go where we want, and not being able to visit the people that we care about. Not having transportation can be very frustrating. Not having the money to get the repairs is even more frustrating.

We have been patient, so far. I have never really been able to be very patient. It is one thing to be able to wait, and quite another to have to wait without choice. Some people have prayed for patience, I have never been THAT brave. I have seen what those people go through, and find myself to be basically chicken thinking about patience. :}

Learning Experiences

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

We have been learning a lot about funerals and what needs to be done in order to have them. I have decided that when I die, my body should be used for donation or for science or for both. When I am dead I will not care about what is left over.

If our friend had managed to have some finances set back, it could have been different. Any proper financial reporting that could have been done, might have changed things around considerably. We know that he will be buried with honors at the Veterans Cemetery and his grave will be maintained and supervised. I wish that we could have found family members that were left. Sooner or later maybe they will show, and we will be able to tell them what happened.

News About Jess

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

A while back I wrote about some concerns that my husband and I had about our family member/friend Jess.

He is now in the Temple VA. Today he and we found out a lot about what had been going on when he had been in the Dallas VA. First, he had wanted to be in Temple all along. That got side tracked. Second he wanted his belongings. That got ignored.

There are things in process to get everything straightened out and his belongings to him where they belong. He still needs prayers. I am not able to tell everything that had happened, there is a lot of private stuff there. Please continue to pray for him.

Tax Dollars at ‘Work’ ?

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

A woman took her father to the VA hospital. While there she tried to purchase a diet soda only to be told a different price compared to other times, poured it out and left.

This is where the story gets interesting. The officials at the facility used the video cameras to see where she went and with whom. They used her father’s private medical records to try and track her down. They are trying to bring FEDERAL charges on her over a soda.

How many laws on the privacy of medical records did they break?
Why such a hubbub over a diet soda? Why Federal charges? How is this serving the country, the veterans, or ANYBODY?

Can anyone spell harassment? or how about a waste of time and tax dollars?

Election Coming Up

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Come November, there will be an election for the office of President of the United States of America.

Both parties have their candidates lined up. Both seem to have their point ready to make for someone to choose them over their opponent.

I am a registered voter, I do vote. My question is….are you registered to vote? will you vote?

The last presidential election showed how important every vote is. Please do not just let things ride, then gripe when you do not like what happens. If you have a point of view, or a want for your country’s representative, VOTE. if you do not care to vote or to register……do not complain later, please.

TV

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Simple title for something that is not so simple, ain’t it? :)

What can I say, but that our favorite TV station - KWTX News 10 - gave an upbeat news program that was good news. They interviewed a veteran of the Iraqi war who had gone back to Iraq to see what changes, if any, there were to be seen. The man talked to the soldiers who were stationed there and mostly he was told that they were bored. The Iraqi people are doing most of the work and the American soldiers were bored.

You do not hear that on the national news.

I wonder why that is? Don’t you think that the American people would be glad to hear that the troop surge has worked? The more that things get better over there, the quicker that our soldiers can come home without the chance of things going bad after they are gone.

Well, any way, if you want to see this news article for yourself, go to the KWTX web site, and click on the ‘find it’ button. Look for - Vets For Freedom 08.15.08.

Voting

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Voting here in the USA is supposed to be a responsibility and privilege of legally registered US citizens.

How have any who are not citizens been allowed to register AND VOTE? IT HAS HAPPENED. The sad part in addition to all this is the fact that many regular, law abiding US citizens no longer care to take part in this country. It is bad enough that many forms that we fill out each day have Spanish on them as well as English, but to allow lawbreakers to try to take over our country, too?

Why doesn’t anybody care? Where is the media in this? They are surprisingly silent. We should not be silent, too.

After all if someone is an illegal alien, they are a lawbreaker. They show no respect for the laws of the land they are in illegally. Why should they be allowed to influence our lives?
