Election Coming Up

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Come November, there will be an election for the office of President of the United States of America.

Both parties have their candidates lined up. Both seem to have their point ready to make for someone to choose them over their opponent.

I am a registered voter, I do vote. My question is….are you registered to vote? will you vote?

The last presidential election showed how important every vote is. Please do not just let things ride, then gripe when you do not like what happens. If you have a point of view, or a want for your country’s representative, VOTE. if you do not care to vote or to register……do not complain later, please.

TV

Simple title for something that is not so simple, ain’t it? :)

What can I say, but that our favorite TV station - KWTX News 10 – gave an upbeat news program that was good news. They interviewed a veteran of the Iraqi war who had gone back to Iraq to see what changes, if any, there were to be seen. The man talked to the soldiers who were stationed there and mostly he was told that they were bored. The Iraqi people are doing most of the work and the American soldiers were bored.

You do not hear that on the national news.

I wonder why that is? Don’t you think that the American people would be glad to hear that the troop surge has worked? The more that things get better over there, the quicker that our soldiers can come home without the chance of things going bad after they are gone.

Well, any way, if you want to see this news article for yourself, go to the KWTX web site, and click on the ‘find it’ button. Look for – Vets For Freedom 08.15.08.

Voting

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Voting here in the USA is supposed to be a responsibility and privilege of legally registered US citizens.

How have any who are not citizens been allowed to register AND VOTE? IT HAS HAPPENED. The sad part in addition to all this is the fact that many regular, law abiding US citizens no longer care to take part in this country. It is bad enough that many forms that we fill out each day have Spanish on them as well as English, but to allow lawbreakers to try to take over our country, too?

Why doesn’t anybody care? Where is the media in this? They are surprisingly silent. We should not be silent, too.

After all if someone is an illegal alien, they are a lawbreaker. They show no respect for the laws of the land they are in illegally. Why should they be allowed to influence our lives?

Feelings

Monday, August 11th, 2008

I watched the Olympic games tonight. At least most of them. When the Swimmers were to take the podium for the awarding of the medals and the American swimmer had stepped up to receive the gold, it felt good.

The part that got to me was when the American National Anthem was played. The melody by itself is beautiful. The words spoke of a fight that was being waged. The feelings expressed were concern for whether or not the fight was being won by the new American people.

Thinking on what was being expressed made me cry. Our country has been a wonderful place to live. We have freedoms that are not always found in other areas. It made me wonder if our country will be able to continue to be free. I do not want our country to fail. I do not want our people to fail. So many other places have lost so much and people have suffered. Please pray for our country. Please pray for our people. Please pray for our leaders.

What Language Do You Speak?

Friday, August 8th, 2008

I speak English. Do you?

so many of the forms that people need to fill out these days also have Spanish on them. I am not Spanish. It bothers me that people that want to live in our country do not bother to learn English. If they are in the process of learning, more power to them for they will be bi-lingual, and I am not.

I understand that when people first come here, they may not speak our language, yet. However, when they have lived here long enough to apply for Food Stamps, or other government help, why would we have to use their language?

One of our former Presidents evidently felt the same way. Roosevelt made this plain. I’m not trying to sound like a bigot, because I’m not. If I went to live in another country I would try to learn what language they spoke. After all isn’t communication important? Isn’t it?

4th Amendment of the Bill of Rights

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Right now there is a teenage girl in Arizona who has had her rights violated. some other student at the school turned a fake tip that ended with her being STRIP searched there at the school in the principal’s office.

I wonder, were her parents notified before this was done, were they even asked if the authorities were allowed to degrade her? Yes, I said degrade. Imagine that you are in school. You are taken to the principal’s office and ordered to disrobe in front of someone. Even your bra and panties are examined. Who else was in the office, who was the person who was with her there to comfort her?

This should never have had to go to court, let alone need to be judged by any court. The fourth Amendment of the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of the United States of America says:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects,
against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants
shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath, or affirmation, and
particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be
seized.

Where was her DUE PROCESS? She was stripped because of rumor, rumor only. There was no due process for her. It has happened, she will probably never forget the humiliation of having this done, all because of a rumor. If a thing has not been established by witnesses and affirmed and proven, it is a RUMOR. What happened to the rumor monger? Is this person to be persecuted in the same degrading manner as the innocent girl?

All of this was because of rumor of IBUPROFEN a drug that can be found in any drug store or grocery store. For this a girl went through something horrible? Imagine how powerless and helpless she felt.

Just because someone is in school, it does NOT mean that they have surrendered their
CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS
Shame on that Arizona school and the authorities that thought they could do what ever they wanted with someone’s child.

A Few Minutes

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

My brother-in-law sent me a site. It only takes a few minutes.

It is called ‘ Just One Minute ‘ , it will actually take about 4 minutes.

It plays the song ‘You are the wind beneath my wings”, there are images that will make you think. We live in a land where; we can vote, we can talk, we can protest, we can vote, we can drive down the street and believe that we will NOT be blown up.

American Flag

Friday, July 4th, 2008

I want to say OUR flag, but I know others from other countries read blogs, too.

My brother-in-law sent me a site that made me cry. It’s about the flag of MY country. I know that sometimes people mess up politically and in other situations; but, I love my country.

I hope other people can have a love of their country. Pride in the place where you live is very important. I don’t always like some of the things that I see happen – that’s life. At least I can be happy about where I live. I’s writing this on the fourth of July. Here in the USA that is our independence day, a time to celebrate. Many people have died to make sure that this country has a chance to exist. I like to give my opinions, I am allowed to do so. I like to worship the way that I like, I am allowed to do so. There’s more for me to like here, but I do not want to drag out my opinions.

Here is the site that was sent: home.comcast.net/~nw-fla/tribute_flag_B_thompson.htm
