Careers

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Welcome back!

With this economy, a new career would probably help someone. It’s just that it would be something if all of the unemployed got new careers all at the same time.

What field is the one most looking for someone to fill it right now? I have no idea. I haven’t worked for a long time. I think it was in 1989. I was working in a print shop in Arkansas. I had fun there.

In my life, I have learned a lot of different skills. Some I still use, others are going to waste. At least my mind still works.

Doesn’t it? :)

Dandruff

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

I’ve got it. Do you?

Wonderful title isn’t it? Of all of the things that i could write about, I chose dandruff. Little flakes of skin that get in the way, show on your shoulder and other places.

Of course then there is the wonderful eczema, which is more than just dry skin. If I thought that I could put hand lotion on my head to get rid of the dandruff, I would. Unfortunately that would give me the appearance of a wet head. It might smell nice, but it would be a pain to wash out and my hair would be plastered to my head. At least I wouldn’t have to worry about having split ends…would I? Not sure.

Death in the family

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

My husband has family in Arkansas.

One of his nieces,( Mary) + her child, her nephew (Joseph) + his child were all in an auto wreck.

Mary is dead. Joseph is dead. Their kids have been sent to the hospital. I have no idea what their condition is right now.

Four people whose lives have been changed forever.

UPDATE 2-17-10

The previous information needs to be updated and corrected. Four people were in the car. Mary with her son Michael, her 7 year old daughter, and her nephew Joseph. Joseph was the son of Mary’s sister Michele.

Michael and the 7 year old were bruised, but okay.

Visitor

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

No, I am not talking about the re-vamped series ‘The Visitors’ or “V” as it is called.

I am talking about a near-by friend of my husband and I, who has a visiting friend from another part of the state. She told us about all of the snowy scenes that she saw while on the train coming down.

I am just glad that she didn’t try to travel by bus, because she might have been stranded because of road blockages. She told us that she remembered her best night cream, but forgot to put part of her nebulizer in her suitcase. Since I, myself, have sleep apnea and understand how important that breathing can be, I asked her if she will be okay while she is here. She said that she would be okay for a while, I just hope that she does not encounter any problems.

Getting Slim

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I know that I just mentioned the Olympics.

Those athletes have to be in very good condition in order to take part in their chosen competition. I bet they don’t have to look for any type of fat burner to get in shape.

Of course they do not sit on their couch and watch TV either. All of the exercise they must do is something that I cannot imagine in any way shape or form. They do have my admiration for their self control over how they use their bodies. Me, I like food a little too much. Exercise…..not able to do that.

I just hope that no more people get hurt seriously, or not seriously. I realize that each contestant is standing in for their own country, I just hope that each country appreciates what these athletes are doing. It is something that I cannot do. I do enjoy watching a lot of what is being done. I like gymnastics, iceskating, and some other things. I just wish that I could do only a little bit myself.

So in another way, I do also envy them their abilities.

Olympics

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

have you heard? When I last checked, the USA had 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals.

I couldn’t believe it when that young man lost his life just practicing for that sled event. I feel sorry for his family.

I hope and pray that no more young people have serious accidents happen while this event or any other event go on. It makes me wish that I had the money to get a room at one of the Toronto hotels, so I could be there in person and watch. These athletes practice so hard, and have worked for so long that they should be cheered on by anyone who watches. It is something that anyone from any country should be able to recognize and appreciate.

Check Up

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Well, the time came for my husband to go in for his after surgery check up.

He got good news and will not be expected to return until 3 months. He is feeling a lot better than he was before the surgery. His pain is almost totally gone. He seems to have more energy than he did before.

The thing that we are working on now is his blood sugar.

Lights Out

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Well, the thunder and lightning in our area had some fun. We didn’t have any fun.

It started out with just some of the apartments inour area losing their electric. Then when the power company showed up, they had to cut all of the power to all of the units in order to safely correct the outage.

Well, evidently the lightning zapped the wires and the transformer box had to be reconnected. It was 5 AM when they were finally able to get things going again. Since I have severe sleep apnea, I CANNOT go to sleep without my breathing machines. 2 of them. So, just as I was thinking about going to bed - NOPE#&*_#@$%_)&.

The next day I was so tired that I slept most of the day to make up the difference. I once fell asleep without the machines. I was in the hospital, they had me hooked up to heart moniters. The next thing that I knew, I hear CODE BLUE with my room number. One of the nurses was talking to me trying to get me to wake up. When I did, she told me that I had scared them and please do not go to sleep without the machines.

That was eye opening. Evidently my heart stopped. So, power out = no sleep. Humph

Raining

Friday, January 29th, 2010

It is raining right now., The lightning was oing on earlier so had to turn everything off. No fun.

Went out and got soggy. At least I didn’t ge the carpet soggy when I came it. If it was tile flooring, it would be easier to clean up, but this apartment has carpeting right near the front door.

some of the apartments are without power right now. The electric company is circling the block trying to figure out where the interruption is so they can fix it. Meanwhile, people are not happy. We are one of the few that have not lost power this time. That’s cool, except for the fact that we had to turn everything off because of the lightning. Oh well, at least we are dry.

Now what?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Well, as I had mentioned in my previous article, there have been some things going on.

Now, We find out when a policeman comes to the door that the American Legion across the street from us was broken into the other night. I begin to think that we might need some security cameras to watch the neighborhood. Not only was the Legion building broken into, but the water department for our city was also broken into. The officer was trying to find out if anyone had seen anything when this happened. We were one of the first to have him visit since we live so close to where it happened.

The park down the road from us has its own troubles, too. There are hookers and drug dealers, or horny males hanging out there a lot. So much for the kids being able to play without any trouble.
