It’s Me Again

Sunday, September 25th, 2011

Welcome back!

Yup, it is me again. I have checked out a lot of different site on the web and sometimes I wonder just who is on the other end.

Well, I am a housewife who has been married for 28 years to a great, loving man. We have two cats who think they tell us what to do (like when to go to bed, etc.).

We both like to talk to people. I obviously have opinions and have shared them repeatedly. So far I have not managed to make anyone extremely grumpy, yet.

We have a bunch of folks who come by to visit and then sit and talk a while.

In other words- we is just folks. :)

Keep cool?

Friday, August 12th, 2011

I have heard of different ways to keep cool.

Go swimming sounds like a good one, if you fit in a swimming suit. There is the idea of going shopping, if you have the money to spend, or the time. The one that makes me wonder ‘what is going on’ is this one - panic drug treatment centers. Are you keeping cool by staying balanced mentally? That would be great. If you are going there only to get in the air conditioning, you sound really bored.

I like the idea of keeping your cool, and staying in the cool places. :)

She left

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

Today, mom left us behind.

She was born Aug 12, 1931 and missed many of her family.

Today she went to Heaven and is having a family reunion. She will be missed, but we would not bring her back since she had been in pain. We celebrate her arrival in Heaven and the family she had missed for so long.

Ok, here’s what

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

Here is the latest update on Mom and her situation.

She is in the nursing home, her apartment has been cleaned, emptied, and the keys turned in. Electricity, cable TV, phone, and most bills have been taken care of properly.

The only thing that I can think of that has not been fully taken care of is birthday invitations to any family. Most of the family know that she is relocated, and they have fun calling her and talking for long times. (Her phone in her room is provided for a small charge.)

We recently had a family reunion that we were unable to attend, but that is not unusual. Maybe after a while, things will slow down. … Maybe…

Furniture to move

Friday, July 8th, 2011

Well, along with everything else, we (my husband, his bother, and I) have an apartment full of furniture to do something about.

We recently learned that mom will not be going home. The doctors, nurses and the physical therapists say that she is not steady enough to manage on her own. She is in her right mind, but her body can no longer do what is needed. She has some clothes that are not going over to the nursing home, curtis and co watches not included, books, videos, and other stuff.

I just wish that we had the money to pay for her to have a live in companion so this would not be necessary. We visit her as much as we can in spite of the gas involved. Talking on the phone is hard for her since she gets severely short winded very easily. We pray for her constantly.

Another thing needed

Friday, July 8th, 2011

Another thing I have found that we need is a new document management system.

Whether it would be a Dokmee document management system, a group of filing cabinets, a secretary, or what….

We need help. We are now managing mom’s papers as well as ours. So far, so good. However, time will tell what the end result will be. I am not that happy to do paperwork, but I know that it needs to be done. I am glad that i did have some schooling concerning accounting, it is coming in handy now even though I am not employed to do it. Whew…..paperwork…..:(

Invisible Hydrant

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

I thought that all across our nation, it was not approved to park within 15 feet of any water hydrant.

It seems that in our neighborhood, the locals do not consider it reasonable to leave the hydrant free of parking cars, trucks, and vans. I had thought that people had learned not to park there when the American Legion building caught fire and the fire department threatened to move a car out of the way by using the fire truck.

Evidently not.

I hear wedding bells

Saturday, June 18th, 2011

There are some people in our church who are getting married.

There had been a hold up for a while, but now the ball is rolling. I have no idea what they would like for wedding gifts, but I have a feeling that bridal lingerie would go over great.

David and Tosha do love each other a lot and the people at church are happy for them. Congratulations Guy and Gal!

Just Waiting, Now

Monday, June 13th, 2011

Right now, we are just waiting to find out the final results of mom having therapy.

We do not yet know whether or not she will be allowed to go back to her own home, so we wait.

So far so good. :)

Thank God

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

I thank God that my husband and I do NOT have to worry about planning a funeral for his mom.

With all that she went through in the past month, it has been totally amazing. The type of arrangement that she had wanted did not leave any room for custom floral arrangements for a funeral or even for her grave site. I am thoroughly happy that it has become not necessary.

The only custom floral arrangements that my husband and I could think of were for her to be alive and to enjoy the flowers. She dearly loves flowers and would like to have flowers planted outside of her front window. If I could, I would do just that. However, I do not have a ‘green thumb’. While she was in the hospice, I brought in something unusual that she ended up loving. I had gotten a 3 foot long rose that the flower head was almost a foot across. I sprayed some rose linen spray on it, brought it into her hospice room and her face lit up.

I would love to give her a bunch of living and flourishing plants with a lot of bows on them. She would enjoy that. Me too. :)
