Oh Brother…

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Welcome back!

Well, it seems that the politicians in Washington do not want to listen to the American people. They are wanting to push through the so-called health care bill.

I say so-called because it will adversly effect everyone around. We are a family that has very limited means. According to the bill, we will be forced to pay for health care insurance where or not we actually have $10 to spare. Someone will then determine if we can afford it or not. We already know that we cannot afford it. We count every penny that we have. Lincoln no longer has a beard.

So when my brother-in-law sent me the following e-mail, it really hit the spot.

Dear Employees:

As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%. But since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off sixty of our employees instead. This has really been bothering me since I believe we are family here and I didn’t know how to choose who would have to go.

So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lots and found sixty ‘Obama’ bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go.. I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem. They voted for change…. I gave it to them.

I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic.

THE BOSS

It really fits.

Smoking, or Not Smoking

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Many buildings these days are now marked as no smoking areas. Public buildings, private buildings. I have heard that there are even times that people want to make private homes no smoking areas. What ever happened to people having the right to choose?

I am not a smoker, but some of these laws bother me a lot. If a business wants to mark itself as a place where smokers are welcome, why can they not put up signs like that? Why do lawmakers want to define how private citizens live? Why do lawmakers feel they have to interfere in how private businesses are run? When has Big Brother ( George Orwell’s version) taken over private life? If people have the desire to pollute their own lungs, that is their choice. When the law makers interfere in private lives, they go too far.

Kitties

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Since my previous post was serious, I decided to let out something that is not serious at all.

My sister knows that I love to see critters, games, food (as if my nick name didn’t give that away), and science articles. Well she sent me a site that has some very cute kittens, and one very smiling cat. Since I have 2 cats myself, I do know when a cat is smiling. So, to cheer up those who want something to grin about, I have put in a link to the site. I haven’t checked out the other pages to see other pictures, but i do believe they are there. I will check them out after I get done here.

On TV the politicians are blaming one political party or another, the fat cat executives in the financial places are stuffing their pockets while they can, while the rest of us just wait to see what will happen next. So here again is a link to something cheerful. :)

Election Coming Up

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Come November, there will be an election for the office of President of the United States of America.

Both parties have their candidates lined up. Both seem to have their point ready to make for someone to choose them over their opponent.

I am a registered voter, I do vote. My question is….are you registered to vote? will you vote?

The last presidential election showed how important every vote is. Please do not just let things ride, then gripe when you do not like what happens. If you have a point of view, or a want for your country’s representative, VOTE. if you do not care to vote or to register……do not complain later, please.

Privatized Jails

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

My husband has gone into the nearby jail to witness to the inmates. He has been able to lead quite a few to the Lord.

He just told me his views of privatized jails. It is not pleasant. Then I found an article in the NY Times online that made me almost want to commit violent felonies on the ones who did what was done. A law abiding man was thrown into detention because of a foul up on the Government’s part over a green card. He was denied any medical treatment until 5 days before he died of excruciatingly painful bone cancer. He was treated roughly over and over again.

WHY? I want to know why? We have illegal aliens getting more benefits from our own government than citizens. Yes, I said illegal, not law abiding. Now, this has happened. It was a privatized company that was in charge of this man’s care. Is this what all citizens have to look forward to if something happens and we end up in detention or jail? :(

This man did NOTHING WRONG and yet, he got the death penalty.

Voting

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Voting here in the USA is supposed to be a responsibility and privilege of legally registered US citizens.

How have any who are not citizens been allowed to register AND VOTE? IT HAS HAPPENED. The sad part in addition to all this is the fact that many regular, law abiding US citizens no longer care to take part in this country. It is bad enough that many forms that we fill out each day have Spanish on them as well as English, but to allow lawbreakers to try to take over our country, too?

Why doesn’t anybody care? Where is the media in this? They are surprisingly silent. We should not be silent, too.

After all if someone is an illegal alien, they are a lawbreaker. They show no respect for the laws of the land they are in illegally. Why should they be allowed to influence our lives?

Progress in Iraq

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

There is progress in Iraq. Why isn’t the American Media shouting this for everyone to hear?

The London Sunday Times carried an article on Aug 6, 2008 that talked about this. Has our media in the USA gotten so fixated on the liberal agenda that it cannot be impartial any more? We hear all about the deaths of our soldiers, we hear about the cost of the war, why do we NOT hear about the victory?

I used to think that giving the news meant that facts were talked about, not someone’s opinions. We do not hear about the Mexican army personnel crossing the border and threatening our law officers, but we hear about ‘Celebrities” who mess up their lives. Whoopee :(

How are we supposed to find out what is going on when we are presented with sludge instead of information?

What Language Do You Speak?

Friday, August 8th, 2008

I speak English. Do you?

so many of the forms that people need to fill out these days also have Spanish on them. I am not Spanish. It bothers me that people that want to live in our country do not bother to learn English. If they are in the process of learning, more power to them for they will be bi-lingual, and I am not.

I understand that when people first come here, they may not speak our language, yet. However, when they have lived here long enough to apply for Food Stamps, or other government help, why would we have to use their language?

One of our former Presidents evidently felt the same way. Roosevelt made this plain. I’m not trying to sound like a bigot, because I’m not. If I went to live in another country I would try to learn what language they spoke. After all isn’t communication important? Isn’t it?

Fed Up

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Yup, I’m fed up with the media. First they say one person is going to win, then they say another. Since when did they become the big experts in how people vote? They don’t even listen to the average person.

Back when Truman was running against Dewy for the White House, the media was so sure it knew everything, that it had front pages printed with the banner that Dewy had won the election. History had proven them wrong of course. Again they were talking that Hilary Clinton was assured of getting the nomination. Well, we all know how that ended.

Why does the media continue to assume that they know it all? They appear to be out of touch with the average citizen in this country. They have continued to push the idea that being liberal is where most of the country is at, when most of the country is combined of a mixture of different people with each having a different point of view.

I sometimes wonder where they get their supposed polls from, because the people that I talk to do not agree with what is being quoted. I used to think that the news was facts that were being talked about. Today it is mostly opinion….theirs, not ours.

Politicians & Media

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

The politicians are at it again. What this time? Try gas prices at the pump.

Another site on Multiplyc.com called C.J.’s site talks about this.

What I don’t understand is that the politicians in office right now had promised to work with the rest of the government to help the country. How is making the ordinary American citizen pay more at the pump helping us? What ever happened to the ‘lofty’ goals spoken of when they were first elected? I guess the office became more important than the people who helped to put the politicians there. It would be nice if the politicians would actually think about the rest of America for a change.

Why isn’t the media screaming about this to every one? How is it that the public (you know the ones paying bills) isn’t informed of the happenings? We hear about movie people having kids and divorces - that ain’t news. Congress hiking the gas tax is news
