Would You Believe…

Welcome back!

There is another movie out. Another disaster, only this time supposedly the whole world will end.

Of course that means that life insurance would not necessarily be a bonus. However, who knows, if the world does not end and you do not survive, your family would benefit.

I often wonder where people get all of these idea about things ending. I sometimes think that they might be writing down their nightmares and then the nightmares become new movies. What do you think?

He’s better

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

My husband is better. He isn’t throwing up a lot right now.

I thought about all of the antibiotics that he’d been taking, and remembered that thay can mess up your digestion. At first, I was thinking that he was allergic to something new and I thought about getting some new air filters for the apartment.

Now that I remembered about how the stomach can be sensitive to too many medicines, I got him some yogurt to eat. So far, it seems to be working and he is definitely feeling better.

That is a relief. :)

Singed Eyebrows

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

My husband has recently gone through some pain with his big toenail. Now he’s trying to make himself bald.

Yes, I did say bald. Now, you might wonder what that has to do with singed eyebrows. Well, that is what I am going to talk about.

He likes to keep his hair short. Do you remember the buzz cut? Well, every once in a while, he gives himself one of those hair styles. This time however, the clippers had another idea of their own. It is called shorting out. Suddenly.

I heard a pop, a yipe, and then a loud thunk. Of course being the calm person that I am (ahem), I asked him if he was okay. He said yes, but that he just lost part of his eyebrow. That comment did nothing to calm me down. I checked him out as he brought out the offending clippers. Yup, one of his eyebrows had parts missing. It was a very interesting look for him, but not to be recommended. I trimmed his eyebrows so that they both matched. He gave me the clippers to check the cord for any breaks. It did not have any, but I am not ready to become a widow and I cut the cord so the clippers can’t be used again.

I am thankful that I still have a husband. He was wearing his flip flops at the time of the short and the electricity did not harm him except for the eyebrow of course.;)

Is Anybody Listening?

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

Ok, I have been reading. I have been watching.

There are so many people that do not want Obama-care that it is unreal. The news talks about the protesters. The politicians ignore those speaking out. People from other countries are making comments. The BBC website has a lot of comments.

What I do not hear is a reasonable way to fix things. Politicians in control of our health created Medicare and Medicaid. Politicians are the ones who have helped this country into having a hard time financially, not just the investors, banks, and stock brokers alone. Why would we want them in charge of our collective health? Remember, they have their own health-care system. They would not suffer.

Grrrrr

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

I know that is not a word, but right now that is how I feel.
GRRRRRR

I was trying to do something on the computer, and the memory has gotten real tight. I have no idea why, but it has gotten tight. Down to 5% of all things. I am no expert, but that sounds wrong. I know that laptop memory can be improved and expanded. I just wonder about table top computers.

I was working on something, the next I knew, it was frozen. YUK The only thing that I could do was to hit the reset button. A narrow excape, but from what?

What was it that I said before? Oh yeah…..Grrrrr.

Heat Wave

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

The heat wave is continuing.

We have been asked to cut down on electricity.

In Florida, the NASA program has had to hold off on a launch. Too bad they cannot send the rain our way.

Rolling Blackouts

Friday, July 10th, 2009

The heat is on. The threat of rolling blackouts is also on if people do not find a way to cut back on their electric usage.

Since we live in a part of Texas where the heat goes over 100, cutting back on the AC is not reasonable for those with health problems. Turning off extra lights, going on line after 10 pm, not watching TV all the time, however are reasonable.

Here is hoping that we do not get blacked out.

Wishes

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Yes, everybody has wishes. One of mine involves the use and purchase of a laptop.

It would be nice to get something else to work on sometimes. Something that would allow me to sit on the couch and sit with ease instead of having to sit on an office chair. It could be worse though. At least I have a computer and can go online and blog and other stuff. It can be fun. I just wish that everyone would have the opportunity to enjoy the same things.

Yes, a laptop would be nice. :)

Television

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

These days all we hear about is the coming change to tv everywhere. The digital change is coming, the digital change is coming, the sky is falling. OY VEY.

If people do not know about it by now, they must not watch tv at all. We have the converter box. The signal is not all that however. When we first tried it out, w got 15 stations. The picture kept breaking up and freezing, so we disconnected it and went back to the regular way of watching tv. Our favorite station was down for 2 WEEKS, so we tried the box again. We only got 3 stations this time, what gives? I heard that the digital change was supposed to be good - I can’t see it myself. ;/

Time

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

Time is something that gets to everyone alive. Whether they keep track of it or not, time will pass and some times people do not keep track of it. Take today for example, when you woke up on the morning, time had changed, the hours specifically had changed because of daylight savings time changing. The computer takes care of itself, so does the VCR and the TV.

The rest of the clocks in the house we need to change when we remember them. We have no Guess watches, most of what we have are the cheap kind that use quartz. My husband cannot wear a wind up watch because of the electricity in his body. He has ruined a lot of watches before when he didn’t realize what the problem was. One watch he gave to a friend. This friend put it on the mantle at his house for 5 years. We were visiting one day when the watch started to work again. A total surprise there, because I had looked at it when the second hand started to move again. Digital watches go totally blank on him and never work again. When he has found watches that do work, the batteries do not last 6 months, they have lasted for up to 3 years instead. Even when he had been in the hospital wearing a heart monitor, the electricity in his body fried several of them until the hospital personnel figured out what was wrong. It was a learning experience for sure. :)
