Welcome back!

A spending spree? Yeah, right….I think not.

I just mentioned that we live on my husband’s SSDI. It isn’t much. We are at poverty level. He paid in the insurance, got disabled, and now he gets SSDI. If we had the money available, we would also get some insurance. I do not know what term life insurance rates are right now, I can only hope they are at a level that we can afford.

We manage to pay our rent, utilities, get food, and buy some gas for our vehicle, not much else. I am glad that I can blow steam and put my thoughts down, so that I do not implode with what is going on. Maybe the word that I am looking for is explode. Whatever, it would make a mess, so it is best that I do not do either.

I will continue to blow steam and survive.

With all of the things that are going on, we need more income for our family.

My husband gets social security disability. That is better than nothing. I, unfortunately do not qualify because I do not have enough points in the system. I wish that I did. I am not able to work in many of the types of jobs that I’d had before, since i cannot stand or do much walking.

Each year, he was getting a cost of living increase (not that it kept up with the actual cost of living). This year, it was decided that he shouldn’t get one. My opinion about that is definitely off of the record since I am supposed to be polite when others can read what I type in. I know that others who get this from having the FICA taxes taken out of their paychecks also barely make it.

The system is far from perfect, it is a mess. I just wish that the politicians would quit playing with it and playing with our lives.

We usually go to the smallest penny each month.

This month, a couple of times those pennies went astray. OUCH We need Outer Banks vacations after this mess is straightened out.

So far, I’ve been notified of NSF checks hitting the bank when I hac believed that there was money in there waiting for them. NSF are 3 letters that are dreaded by those who balance check books each month. That overdraft money is really needed in our home, not in the bank’s pocket.

Anyone know where I can sell some paper back books, cheap. Only 50 cents each. Oh, how abaout some unused computer programs discs?

I look out my window, and what do I see?
White flakes of snow falling down on the city.
I think of snow plows, scrapers and more.
I think of insurance quotes, and opening the door.
I think of snow angels, snow balls, and slush.
The next thing I know, my husband says shush.
He doesn’t like snow, he just hates the cold.
He wants me to shut up and not open the door.
I want to go sledding, I want to play.
He says wait for tomorrow, don’t go today.
I wait for tomorrow, and open the door.

There ain’t no snow, it melted away.

Everywhere that I look on the TV right now, there are political ads everywhere, everywhere….did I say EVERYWHERE?

This man says this, that man says that……noise, noise, NOISE!

I am an opinionated fat broad and even I don’t have as many opinions as the politicians do in all of their ads.

I know that they are trying to get elected, I just wish that they would tell the truth.

OOPS, if they did that they would not get elected….would they?

Am I the only one who feels that the political course of our country has been side tracked by the media frenzy that goes with elections?

have you heard? When I last checked, the USA had 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals.

I couldn’t believe it when that young man lost his life just practicing for that sled event. I feel sorry for his family.

I hope and pray that no more young people have serious accidents happen while this event or any other event go on. It makes me wish that I had the money to get a room at one of the Toronto hotels, so I could be there in person and watch. These athletes practice so hard, and have worked for so long that they should be cheered on by anyone who watches. It is something that anyone from any country should be able to recognize and appreciate.

Yes, there they go again. I realize that it is also the name of a song, but it fits the situation.

The politicains on the TV are at it full time. Our state governor is trying to brag about what he has done while in office. I wish that he would get some weight loss supplements to shrink his inflated opinion of himself.

He is personable enough, he can be pleasant looking, he can be very charismatic. I still do not like him and what he has done. Of course that can be said about a lot of politicians can’t it? Opinions are out there, for everyone has them. This has been my opinion.

Notice that I didn’t give any name? I ain’t no dummy.

I do truly enjoy good egg rolls.

My favorite restaurant, however, uses a type of seasoning that I don’t like. So, I make some of my own egg rolls.

1 head of cabbage shredded finely
2 large cans of boneless chicken / or an equal amount of pork or shrimp that is:cooked, make sure that the meat is shredded for even distribution.
1 large can of oriental vegetables -chop finely also after draining
2 packages of egg roll wraps
soy sauce - lots of it
1 Tbsp of flour made into a loose paste to seal the wrappers

Gently saute the cabbage in a large frying pan, seasoning with soy sauce. When the cabbage is tender, add the vegetables, meat and stir.

Let the mixture cool. Lay out a cooking sheet, plastic mat, or something that will protect the counter from drippings.

On to each uncooked wrap, place approximately 2 tbsp of the mix. (The wrappers usually come with instructions on how to fold into egg rolls.) When it is almost completely rolled, use your finger and smear on some of the flour paste to seal and finish rolling. Place into a nearby pan to await being fried.

Heat a frying pan with oil/shortening until the oil/shortening is hot. There should be enough in the pan to mostly cover the egg roll. Fry each roll until it is golden brown all over. Drain, and serve.

The quantity that I told you about will make about 30 to 40 egg rolls. If you have wrappers left, they can be cut into strips and fried by themselves for chips to munch along with your egg rolls. YUM

Believe it or not, you can also make a mix using different types of cooked, seasoned fruit instead of the cabbage mix to be made into fruit rolls for desert. They can be dusted with powdered sugar for a finishing touch. STILL YUM

I’m still around. Kind of like a pimple on the tip of your nose that seems to glow red.

Yup, that kind of obvious. Now I know that there are acne treatment for pimples, but I do not think there are those things for (AHEM) opinionated-fat-broads. That is how I can describe myself.

I also have a very relaxed way of dressing. I mean that as long as no one runs away screaming, I’m cool with it. I have also always thought that if no one screams, and I do not get arrested, it is a good day. Haute couture is obviously not my style.

While the house was being cleaned, people were being killed.

We live only 30 minutes away from Fort Hood.

I called the husband of the lady who did the house cleaning. He told us to turn on the TV, that there had been a serious shooting at Fort Hood.

Why? There is no reason for doing something that horrible. I feel for the family members of anyone involved. Our neighbor has a son who works out there working on housing. He called his dad later and let him know that he was okay. There are a lot of people who got another type of call later that day.

I do not understand how anyone could do something like that. There is no reason for it.
