Just wonderful - not

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Welcome back!

My chin was itching, I scratched it.

Just wonderful, I had a zit. It has been so long since that happened that it caught me off guard. I do not even have any zit medicine at home right now. I can’t even remember what some of the names are -acnepril, clearasil, zits begone…whatever.

Since I was sitting in our vehicle (remember the running?), I didn’t even have the right type of mirror or supplies handy. I hope that it will disappear now and LEAVE ME ALONE. I do not need this on top of everything else.

Sorry, I sound grumpy. That’s another story.

OK, here’s what’s happened

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

This is what has happened so far these past two weeks:

One - our neighbor ended up in the ER and then needed someone to come in and talk to him so the doctor would know that he was acting normal. Evidently he was in such pain that he didn’t/couldn’t give much information. He was normal and explained to the doctor why he didn’t talk much.

Two - our mom fell in her apartment, hit her head and scared the begeebers out of her housekeeper. CT scans, Xrays later, she went home. She was okay.

Three - my husband had an infection in his arm that looked as if it was growing. He had played with one of our cats and had gotten a slight scratch when she had gently chewed on his arm. He is a Diabetic, has heart trouble and other stuff so that infection was a definite RED FLAG that called for immediate attention from medical personnel. He got some antibiotics after a big search for something that he wasn’t allergic to. The medicine/s that is/are usually assigned for infected cat bites, he is allergic to, to such an extent that they endanger his life.

Four - neighbor ended up in the ambulance and needed a ride home afterwards.

Five - mom was sitting in her walker as I pushed her towards her apartment. When she got the walker, we were both told that it could be used that way by her and anyone with her. This was said by the person who sold it to her. We didn’t understand why Medicare refused to reimburse her for it. We learned why that was, it collapsed when we got to the mat in front of her door. She went down backwards, hit her head on the cement threshold, got very scared, scared the begeebers out of me, her son, and the poor housekeeper, again. Both my husband and myself had to stay with her all night and wake her up every 2 hours since the back of her head was involved, just in case of further symptoms. She got through the night safely, but she was told that she needed to make an appointment to see her regular doctor because of a suspicious lump inside her head, behind her sinuses, that was found. We still do not know what it is. We will find out on Tuesday.

THAT is what has been going on for the last two weeks. EEEEK

The people in the ER actually recognized us and asked why we were there again the last 3 times.

FLEAS !

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Yes, the dreaded word, fleas.

We live in an apartment complex. Every 3 months or so the complex has an exterminator (not Arnold) come by and spray. Well he came by, sprayed, and now we have fleas.

We have lived here for 8 years and this is the first time that we have fleas. I wonder where they came from. One of our neighbors also has had the same thing happen. Maybe they came in from outside.

Flea spray, here we come. I hope that our cats do not hold long grudges. MEOW !

ER Visits

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

Things have been happening here. This week alone, I have made 4 visits to our local ER.

None of those visits were for me. The first one was for a brother, the second was for my husband, the third was for a brother again, the fourth was for my husband’s mom.

The nurse at one of the desks there asked what I was doing there again. Well, they were happy that it wasn’t for me, but they were worried for our family. They ain’t the only ones who are concerned. I am hoping that things will quiet down now and we will be able to avoid our local ER.

Computers ARGH!

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

I have 2 computers.

They are scheming together to drive me nuts. Yes, they are!

One is running out of available memory, the other is refusing to send out any e-mails. Why? I have NO IDEA. They are driving me nuts.

When things get tough computer wise, I just remember…they were designed by human beings to drive other human beings crazy. :)

Yup, that’l do it for sure.

Lights Out

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Well, the thunder and lightning in our area had some fun. We didn’t have any fun.

It started out with just some of the apartments inour area losing their electric. Then when the power company showed up, they had to cut all of the power to all of the units in order to safely correct the outage.

Well, evidently the lightning zapped the wires and the transformer box had to be reconnected. It was 5 AM when they were finally able to get things going again. Since I have severe sleep apnea, I CANNOT go to sleep without my breathing machines. 2 of them. So, just as I was thinking about going to bed - NOPE#&*_#@$%_)&.

The next day I was so tired that I slept most of the day to make up the difference. I once fell asleep without the machines. I was in the hospital, they had me hooked up to heart moniters. The next thing that I knew, I hear CODE BLUE with my room number. One of the nurses was talking to me trying to get me to wake up. When I did, she told me that I had scared them and please do not go to sleep without the machines.

That was eye opening. Evidently my heart stopped. So, power out = no sleep. Humph

Now what?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Well, as I had mentioned in my previous article, there have been some things going on.

Now, We find out when a policeman comes to the door that the American Legion across the street from us was broken into the other night. I begin to think that we might need some security cameras to watch the neighborhood. Not only was the Legion building broken into, but the water department for our city was also broken into. The officer was trying to find out if anyone had seen anything when this happened. We were one of the first to have him visit since we live so close to where it happened.

The park down the road from us has its own troubles, too. There are hookers and drug dealers, or horny males hanging out there a lot. So much for the kids being able to play without any trouble.

Pimples in the past

Friday, November 6th, 2009

Everyone has their own stories about their times with acne and all of the different types of acne treatment that can be found.

I am 55 and no longer have those things happening to me. I do not know if it is all connected to your hormones, what you eat, or what your skin type is. All that know is that i no longer have those things happening.

At least now, you have more choices for treating acne than just rubbing alcohol. Believe it or not, people used to use whiskey, vodka, and other alcoholic beverages to treat pimples. Having acne is bad enough without going around smelling like a distillery.

Housecleaning - UG

Friday, November 6th, 2009

Well, it has become that time of year again.

We have been cleaning house for the semi-annual inspection. I HATE, yes I mean HATE to clean house. At the present time, we do not have a steam cleaner. Of course, a Ladybug steam cleaner would give me something nice to look at when I have to eventually do this distasteful deed.

One of the things that happened when the cleaning was being done was that I fell right on my rump. All that I could do was to sit there and wonder what happened? The last I knew I was picking something up. I leaned over from the office chair that I was sitting on and then went to lean back and sit BACK down, the chair however had other ideas. It moved on me. Let’s just say that I was very startled. I didn’t go down hard, but I was definitely surprised. One of thewonderful ladies from our church was there and was doing most of the work. She asked me if I was okay, I said yes, and then I purst out laughing. She looked at me as if I had lost it. Maybe i did, but the whole thing was really funny. I went down in slo-mo of all things. No pain was involved, just a severe loss of dignity. After a moment, she joined me in the laughing. It was truly a surprise. Of course getting back up was no simple stunt, but I got it done.

Had a look around while down there, and got some very strange looks from one of our cats. Now that cat did look at me as if I had really lost it which made me laugh harder. Oh well, it was funny. :)

While I mention it…

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

While I am mentioning traveling….

Do you realize that there are a lot of crazy people in cars out on the highway? If you can safely look at the car next to you, check out what the driver is doing.

Once I saw someone putting on mascara using the mirror while ‘driving’. Hello, what about watching the road or where you are going? Or maybe that is just something extra and ‘not’ necessary?

Give me a break (hopefully not a bone that is). Talking on the cell phone is another pet peeve of mine. How is that phone call more important that your life or mine for that matter?

Do I sound like I am griping? Of course I am. I always thought that when you were driving, you weren’t supposed to do anything else. How about driving and talking to the other person in the car. Of yeah, you are looking at the other person and not at the road.

If these cars were guided by an ‘intelligent computer and the driver was not necessary, I could see doing all of these things. That is not the case. I do not know about you, but I am not ready to die for someone being a dufus instead of being the driver.

To me that is another taste of someone abusing the power that they have.
