SPAM

Welcome back!

I love the Spam that comes in a can.

I HATE the crap that shows up in my e-mail. All the time it shows up.

Why should I have to unsubscribe from something that I never wanted to begin with? I NEVER gave permission for my e-mail address to be abused and used by the trash senders of the universe.

I HATE this trash. I would dearly love to be able to mess with their computer the way that they have messed with mine.

Who gave them the privilege of messing up my computer?

NOT ME.

Political Ads

Friday, October 29th, 2010

It is getting closer to the next election day.

The TV is loaded with all of the hated political ads that can be found. This politician says the other is lying, that politician says the other is not paying their taxes, blah blah blah. PHOOEY

I remember when there was such a thing as truth in advertising. Surprising ain’t it?

It obviously no longer exists. I wish that the media would have to show the facts for each candidate in an open manner where things could be surveyed side by side at the same time. The newspapers used to do that and it made it easier to notice the liar in the crowd.

Now, I am not so sure.

Don’t Eat Aunt Marsha

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

Yes, the phrase that you see is exactly what I meant to type.

There is a commercial on TV for the Verizon network. It shows a family and kid with a pinata and one child trying to whack it. The father (I guess) is talking to the people of the network. After talking to them, he takes the stick from the blind-folded child and whacks the pinata which of course causes candy to fall out. Of course the amount of candy falling out is way more than what that pinata can hold.

While the stuff is falling out, he turns, points, and says “Don’t eat that Marsha!” However the man is talking so fast that it sound totally as if he is saying - Don’t eat Aunt Marsha. Every time that I hear that commercial, now, I burst out laughing.

Of course if the man had properly enunciated what he was saying, I wouldn’t remember the commercial and wouldn’t laugh now. :)

Hey Advertisers

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Yes, it is time for me to gripe about advertising again.

I have a few favorite shows that I like to watch. It get me that I am watching the show, get into the mood of the show, the next thing that I hear and see involves LOUD noise, nonsense, and irritation.

That is not the way to sell items, ideas, opinions, whatever. The television networks used to say that the commercials were not at a different volume level. How wrong they still are. When you have to turn down the volume suddenly during a show, and when the show comes back on, turn the volume up again.

The sudden change in volume really kills the mood of the show. I do not like advertisers who do that, and it makes me decide NOT, I repeat, NOT,to buy their product. Isn’t that self defeating in the purpose of the commercial?

Lady, you are scaring the neighbors

Friday, April 17th, 2009

I recently saw a commercial that had me saying that phrase above.

The woman was trying to get her husband to do something, or stop doing something. She had all of her face covered with pasty white something or another. Probably cold cream - YUK.

The way that I figure it, she should wash her face and then try to talk to her husband if she wants him to actually listen to her. I have no idea where the ad agencies get their ideas. Some are funny as all get out, others are nothing but irritating - at least to me they are. I am not happy when they treat the customers are if they are morons, or should be morons in order to buy their products. I cannot be alone with my opinions, can I?

It Is Done

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Remember the sign? Well, it is done.

It only took around a week for it to get done, and I must admit that I had fun doing it. Soon, it will be put up where others can see it.

This opportunity to have fun and do something for our little church was fun. Sometimes it can be amazing what different uses can be put to wood, paint, and a little time.

Mail

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

I have another gripe. I know, I know, there are a lot of gripes in the world.

This gripe concerns junk mail. Maybe I should have called this post junk mail, but oh well. Every day we get mail in the box. We bring it in and go through it. Credit card offers galore, it would be nice i we had asked for them. When we read what the offers say, they make it sound as if WE wanted their junk in our mail box. sounds like spam doesn’t it? :)

Any way, when I go through these things, I remove our names and address from the paperwork. We have enough bills right now without having to worry about someone using this junk mail and stealing the use of our names. As I go through these things, I have noticed that The advertisers will plaster our names all over the paper as if we do not know who we are. Ridiculous. so, as I go through this junk I have to remove each and every place where our names are mentioned, remove any numbers that are included.

These things are a pain in the rump. When they include a postage paid envelope, I very kindly put in that envelope part of the form with the name on it and tell them to take our names off of their mailing lists. Let them pay the postage.

Opinions

Friday, June 27th, 2008

I have been giving my opinion for several hours today. It’s been fun, and yet I have found some ’survey’ sites are not really about the survey, but about selling you “opportunities” to get things.

You get from one page to another and continually are presented with things to sign up for which will most of the time cost money. If you decide to pass on the “opportunities” you might be told that you have to take a pick from gold, silver, or platinum choices, or even some from ALL that are presented to you. That is NOT a survey. It is worse than phone sales. I put my number on the Do Not Call list to avoid irritating sales pitches. Now, I find them in e-mails (I use the delete button a lot), and on sites posing as surveys. YUK

The way I figure it, the TV has more than enough commercials on it; so, why can’t the advertisers be honest and admit that they are selling things and not try to disguise their sites as surveys. It makes me not trust the products being pushed.

Surveys, I thought, were supposed to be about opinions, not selling stuff; but, that’s just my opinion after all. :)

Irritating Commercials

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Yes, I have commented on TV ads before. Here i go again.

Several commercials are so irritating that I find myself griping at the TV! Lot of good that will do. Ha as if.:) Well, anyway, there is this commercial where the man says his arm itches. The wife begins to pelt him with all types of tubes of medicine without once bothering to find out what type of itch it is. If I was the man, I would pelt her right back with all the ammo she has been throwing at me. Might get her to stop.

Then, there is this commercial. Someone is doing something that is making them happy. The face of a young man comes on and YELLS 1 flag! Then shows a scene from an amusement park with screams and stuff going on. The face of the young man shows again and YELLS how many flags that supposedly means that the amusement park is more fun. It doesn’t mention the cost which is in the double digits. The yelling is so irritating that I would not choose to go to that place, let alone pay that cost.

Why do ad agencies think that a TV commercial has to be loud and irritating in order to sell the product? It doesn’t work for me. It is a big time turn off. I wish the agencies would learn. It would make the TV viewing more pleasant.

Advertising? UGH!

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

What’s up with the advertising today? Its snotty, snide, insulting, downright nasty. How can being nasty be good advertising? Every time I hear the nastiness it makes me avoid that product. If the commercial goes out of its way to be nasty, it makes me wonder about the business ethics of those who run the business.

Some commercials are cute or fun. There’s one advertising car insurance and it shows two presidential lookalikes racing limos–funny! Improbable, but funny. The gecko is okay, so is the chihuahua. What I don’t dig are nasty little brats who get goodies by acting nasty. People being put down and criticized just do not give happy feelings. Okay, how about the food ads (much shorter than commercials, right?) that feature either the two morons or the bickering married couple? The way they gripe with one another makes me wonder why they hang out together. Not a very good way to advertise good tasting food. Show the food more, forget the grouchiness! People spend more money when they feel good. Grouchiness or nastiness AIN’T gonna do it for me. That’s my grouchiness talking here.
