Internet Rip Off

Welcome back!

Welcome to another Two Ton Tilly Rant.

I have been trying surveys. I believe that I mentioned them in an earlier post. Well, I am fed up with one particular supposed survey call INBOX DOLLARS.COM. They promise 50cents for every e-mail read. However, they only give credit of one cent. Then when you try to actually get paid for any time and effort put into their activities, you get told that you can’t get paid until you achieve a credit way above what you supposedly have.

In other words, a royal RIP OFF. A lot of time and eye sight wasted on hidden spam and advertising. Nothing has been achieved except to tick off someone who isn’t afraid to label a thief for being a thief. So, beware of INBOX DOLLARS.COM. Their scheme is nothing more than a ploy separate you from you money and time.

Surveys

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Just spent about 7 hours on the internet looking at survey sites. Wow, some of them aren’t about surveys as much as they are about selling services, time shares, ring tones for phones, magazines, yata, yata, yata.

What a disappointment. Taking surveys happens to be something that can be fun. Sometimes surveys offer a chance at sweepstakes, or prizes. Most of the ones I met weren’t honest about what they wanted. Instead of answering questions that are part of a survey, you get presented with choices of services, over and over again. The answer of no is not taken easily. The same products are offered again and again. Where I come from, no means no, not try again. some surveys didn’t want to accept that I didn’t desire to publicize my phone number. The site wouldn’t move on until you gave them what THEY wanted. That isn’t surveying, that is only false advertising. The alt button and F4 sure did come on handy.

Spam

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

I am beginning to hate spam. It shows up when you least want it. The food in a can is alright, but the electronic type is a pain in the bottom. ( I try to spell tucus, but the spell check tells me it’s wrong.) On this site I keeep getting spam for ring tones. If I wanted ring tones I’d ask my provider, not anonymous johnnies who sneak their messages in on you. Broadcast TV is well known for it’s commercials, it is a shame that going on the internet you are bugged by advertising anyway.

Even cable TV is not free of commercials. I know the ad agencies need to make money; but, butinsky spam is not appreciated. Tried to look at something in an article found in Stumble Upon, but spam got in the way. UG! Yes, I’m ranting again. At least if you’re reading this, you chose it of your own free will, I didn’t spam you after all.:)

Debt Collectors

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Yes, I said a dirty word or name. CBS showed a man who works as a debt collector on TV. He must be brave or have been honorable. From some of the comments I’ve heard from family and friends, most of the debt collectors are not nice in the slightest.

Rude, sarcastic, arrogant, impatient, argumentative are all descriptions that have been used to describe those who have been contacted. Sometimes things happen and people get in over their heads. We hear of many these days who are in trouble money-wise. Many people are honest and will make efforts to pay back what is owed. Yes, there are some who won’t or can’t. I’m giving the benefit of doubt here, I’d hate find out that the USA has dishonorable buyers in it that outweigh the honest ones.

The last thing that is needed is someone who will go out of their way to make a bad situation even worse. Our country is going through tough times. Not as bad as other countries, or like it was in the ‘Great Depression’. Maybe the tax rebate checks will help out some of the more honorable among us, and the debt collectors can try to be polite.

Unwanted

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Just checked for comments. UG! Spam was present. Thank God for the delete, or spam category so they can be gotten rid of quickly. Commercials on TV are bad enough, but to find them also sneaking into my site is not nice. If I had asked them to invade, that would be one thing but for them to infest themselves unwanted is another. I almost wish to know how to spike them as I saw in a James Bond movie. (Remember the movie ‘Golden Eye”?) Of course some would consider that to be unfriendly. Oh well, I could dream couldn’t I? If I remember correctly, commercials were supposed to be eliminated by cable TV. Who ever thought they would get into the places they show up now?

Food Rationing

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

Watched the Tonight show with Jay Leno. I understand what he means about the ‘food’ that most Americans carry with them. I am one of them.

Lack of exercise, age , and eating habits do make a difference. Of course it is hard to exercise when things limit your activities. Pain does that. I wish that I had exercised more when I was able. Enough about that. Been looking up the ‘food shortage’ that people have been talking about. It isn’t about a lack of food so much as a lack of being able to BUY food for many people. What I don’t understand is the rationing that is being done. Doesn’t supply and demand usually also have something to do to effect the prices of things?

When things are hard to find, prices go up. The food is there; but, limiting how much that we can buy will make the price go up. That doesn’t seem “rational” with folks crying out “shortage”. The suppliers will like to get more money for their products, but creating an artificial shortage just ain’t right! Yes, many in the USA can afford to purchase food, no luxury items, just ordinary food. Why make things worse? Artificial inflation created for more profits is like cutting someones wrists so they need to get transfusions. The media doesn’t bring up that part of what is going on, just “shortage & rationing”. The extra money being made isn’t going into the pockets of the farmer who raised the food, after all many farmers are going broke. Where is the money going? Where oh where is the conscience of the business world? In their respective wallets?

DUCK !

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Actually…Maybe I should have said QUACK.

I love the commercial from AFLACK. Watching a cr race around while feathers fly is hilarious. Then seeing the duck wobble (or should I say waddle) around with a helmut on his head is also funny. The first time I say that I must admit that I cackled.

The only bad that I could see was that the other drivers were having a hard time seeing while driving. Kind of reminds me of chicken trucks. It is a shame that other ad agencies can’t have fun commercials without putting people down.

Auto Insurance

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

It’s time to rant again, at least for me.

There is an auto insurance company that brags about supplying liability insurance for anyone. Unfortunately, their choice of examples of drivers they show makes me wish I was driving an armored truck or say maybe…a Sherman tank.

Yes, I said tank.

One example driver shown, chases people through the parking lot. He swerves his car back and forth, bumps things (or people), people run away screaming. He doesn’t slow down or use his brakes. The streets or parking lots are not the place to play dodgem cars.

Another example shown says she NEEDS her car. She admits to more than a few tickets, and more that just a couple of accidents. Neither example driver should be on the road until they have gone through drivers education training. They need to learn that driving a car is not a right,; but is a responsibility.Enabling dangerous peole to occupy our roads is not encouraging.

Driving cars is not a game or target practice. Once someone gets behind the wheel the gaming stops.
