Welcome back!

With this economy, a new career would probably help someone. It’s just that it would be something if all of the unemployed got new careers all at the same time.

What field is the one most looking for someone to fill it right now? I have no idea. I haven’t worked for a long time. I think it was in 1989. I was working in a print shop in Arkansas. I had fun there.

In my life, I have learned a lot of different skills. Some I still use, others are going to waste. At least my mind still works.

Doesn’t it? :)

Careers

In my life I have been allowed to do a lot of different things. No, I’ve never flown a jet as a pilot. I’ve been on a couple of DC10’s,though, been up in a chopper (a bubble chopper), never been in a prop-plane.

Well any way, I’ve had a lot of different careers. Started out as a short order cook in a Burger Chef. I’ve washed dishes. Traveled with the carnival for a short time. After that I worked in a Krystal Burger, a drug store doing shelf stocking and package wrapping for Christmas. I’ve been a cashier in a cafeteria and in the candy department of a department store. I’ve been a bonded stock clerk in an auto parts warehouse. I’ve been a machine operator in an engineering firm, learned to read parts blueprints and inspect them to make sure that they followed the specifications on the blueprint (that was fun because I also learned to use different machines and measuring tools).

I have worked in nursing homes with the elderly and those who lived there. I like to talk to people, but in the nursing home rarely had the time to just sit and visit, which was sad for those who were stuck there. Being the secretary/receptionist in a printing business was fun. I learned about the printing business and the many different things that are used to make poster, flyers, labels, and other printed material that people use. Keeping the accounts receivable for the business and ordering the supplies needed was a learning experience, that’s for sure. Did you know that some paper is not made with any wood pulp? Some are mostly chemicals.

In the different types of jobs I’ve held, each one gave me a different type of smell when I came home. Printer’s ink - STINKS. Machine oil does too and it was hard to get out of my clothes along with the metal shavings. Coming home smelling like food was a bonus for the pets in the house. They got friendly and inquisitive each time. As life goes on each person gathers different experiences with each job held and the training involved. At least it wasn’t boring, though. Some of my training I couldn’t use from one job to another, sometimes the training overlapped. No matter what, at least it wasn’t boring. :)
