Computers

Welcome back!

I have a table top computer and have been having a great time surfing the internet and blogging. I now have an anti-virus program to keep out nasty surprises designed to make things miserable.

The only thing that bugs me now is memory. I do a disk clean-up every so often, and that does happen to help. I wish that I knew which things I could eliminate from the computer memory storage, but as I have mentioned before, I am more analog than digitally inclined.

I have learned to do some things, but can’t seem to figure out others. I am not giving up, though. The way I figure it if I keep trying, sooner or later some understanding will seep into my mind and I will understand a little better.

I’m not awake, yet

Or in other words (computerese) - The computer has been booted, but some of the programs are not running as of yet.:)

Some mornings I get out of bed, and it is a while before I am awake enough to realize that I’m not in bed anymore. I’m not sleep walking, though. Stumbling, muttering, bleary eyed - oh yeah. But, not sleep walking.

I can’t be the only one having that problem sometimes. I have heard my husband stumbling around in the bedroom, so I know that he understands what I’m talking about. Coffee helps him to “boot up” his brain. I have used cheese. Of course, I like cheese, so I use almost any excuse that I can. I used to think that I should have been born with big ears. (You know, like Mickey Mouse). At least then I could have earned money in the circus, snicker…

I’m awake, now, and I think all of the programs have started up and are running. I just wish that I knew what ‘programs’ those are. ;)

Computer in Never-Never Land

Monday, July 7th, 2008

This is written using our second computer. The first one got zapped by a destructive worm.

We were blessed, when we first got this one it had an anti-virus program already installed. I put it to use most definitely. Unfortunately two days ago the trial run of that program came to an end. Never-never land, here we come. EEK :( I was not a happy camper.)

Well, we have a friend who gladly told me about a site called Download.com. I immediately put it to use and got another anti-virus program, computer saved . Camper happy again. I am still learning about the new anti-virus program; however, I feel safer when I go on the internet, which is several times daily. (It is fun after all) I know that there are idiots out there who make it their life’s dream to break someone’s computer with their little nasties. Sometimes, I think that they need their heads examined, or de-programed since we , I mean I , am talking about computer stuff here. Notice how techno that comment is? Snicker…

Internet Kitty

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

Every time I get on the computer I’m not alone. One of the two cats we own is always ready to keep me company.

You have probably seen how different types of cars and trucks have hood ornaments. Well, once the computer is turned on I’ve got a computer ornament. She sometimes seems to anticipate my use of it and will get on top at the back and stare at me until she’s noticed. It’s as if she is trying to call me over. Once the computer is activated, she settles down and peeks over the top at me. At first it was starting to look up and see two eyes and ears looking back. Now, I’m used to it. No, I don’t have a laptop type of computer.

When I shut down, she will stand up and try to see inside to find out what the clicks and motor noises are about. She has even been known to swat and bat at my fingers once she realizes her throne is being turned off. Talk about a bossy feline. She might be comfortable but my back needs a rest. Sometimes I’ll just have it on until it goes to standby and the screen goes blank. You know what I mean. When that happens she gets down off of the back and of the computer and goes and starts standing on the keyboard. I’ve seen her little tap dance. She will do that until she finds the one spot that will make the computer beep. Then she sits right there in that spot. Makes me wonder who it is that determines when I use the computer anyway. I guess that Internet Kitty sometimes does. MEOW!

Just so you can see what both my kitties look like, here they are in all their glory!
