My eyes have been try8ing to give me problems lately.

They have blurred, teared up (yes, tear drip down my face), and in general caused frustration.

I don’t think even a barska scope could help right now since it is my allergies that are causing the problem.

It get hard to type on the computer when I have to stop and wipe away the tear, sniff constantly with my nose, cough, and snneeeeze.

That sneezing really messes with the typing.

I can sleep again

Friday, March 20th, 2009

With all of the coughing that has been going on around home lately, the lack of sleep has been apparent for both of us.

That flu we went through made havoc with all of our systems. We try to lay down to sleep and coughing and hacking would awaken us, and we would be more tired than ever. I am so glad that the flu is gone. I have no desire to miss the flu vaccine the next time it comes around.

With the lack of sleep, it has gotten me to wondering how one of those sleep number beds would work. I like the idea that a person could vary how soft or hard the bed would be. I wonder how much those things cost. We use memory foam on top of the regular bed right now. It did make a big difference. Oh well, time will tell in the long run. I am just so glad to finally get sleep again.

It’s Almost Gone :)

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

Yes, I am wanting to smile. The coughing that has made my life so miserable is almost gone. All I have to do is avoid any smokers for a while and I will finally be finished. I have noticed that any type of smoke will cause a tickle to trigger a new bout of coughing.

I have gotten so frustrated with the coughing, that I have been using medicine that is not approved for someone with Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and what not. At least it has been effective in helping me deal with the nasty. There are so many types of cold and flue medicine out there that sometimes it is hard to make an educated choice about what to use when it is needed. Oh, for the day when I will no longer need to drink something that is making a mockery of the taste of cherry. I like cherries after all, but what has been described as cherry flavor in liquid medicines is nothing but a poorly disguised flavor additive. Licorice at least does work to disguise the tastes of some medicines. Oh well, Land Of No Cough - here I come, at last. :)

Tired of Coughing

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

I know, I am whining again. At least I can breathe right now. Where we live in Texas, the weather is going back and forth between reasonable and cold. Up north, they have snow of all things. I remember that from childhood in Missouri. Don’t miss it much, though.

I would like to take a vacation from this coughing mess. Maybe a choice of Vegas vacations, or maybe a vacation in Florida. Let someone else do the cooking, the clean-up, the vacuuming. Wait a minute, I don’t vacuum right now anyway. Don’t miss the sound of it either. Either way, a vacation would be nice to let someone else do the waiting, and all of the other stuff that comes with life. Could be worse though couldn’t it? At least I am alive and able to gripe about it. Meanwhile, life goes on as usual.

About Time

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Yes, it is about time. We can breathe again.

We have been in a battle for our health. Starting around November 6, 2008 my husband and I started to cough. This went on until our sides were sore, as if we had been kicked in the sides every time we coughed. Then the mess faded to just occasionally a tickle in the throat.

Bam it came back in all of its nasty UNglory. It started with the runs, then the sore throat, then the cough, then the head so full that we could not think. I lost my appetite for a while there and we only seemed to eat one meal each day to keep us going.

IN OTHER WORDS - TOTAL MISERY.

Now we are breathing again. Our sinuses are still having some trouble, but the rest is going- going- almost gone. Turns out there are a couple of viruses going around that are neasty and all you can do is treat the symptoms and hope to outlast the bug itself. We have succeeded. We ended up with going through 2 types of misery, but we have survived. :)
