After all this stuff

Welcome back!

We have been running around a lot lately. We have used over 80 dollars of gas. We have stayed in the same county, though.

That is a lot of running. On top of it all, my blood sugar has not been at its best since I had been having trouble getting a refill on one of my medicines. I finally got it today, but, after a look in the mirror….I neeed the best eye cream for dark circles.

I almost scared myself as I looked in the mirror this morning. My hair was on end, my eyes of course looked as if I had used them to imitate a raccoon. ( I am not trying to criticize raccoons here.)

High blood sugar can cause a lot of disturbances in your life. You might now even notice it at first, but it all adds up to lack of sleep, severe irraitability, people wanting to hide from you (me), frequent trips to the potty, itchiness all over. When you add all these things up, I was not a happy camper.

Got it today!

Yippee

I got the medicine that I needed today.

My husband is breathing a sigh of relief. When my blood sugar gets too high, I get very bitchy. I try not to, but it is very hard.

I can’t sleep, my skin itches, I have to pee A LOT, my eyes get blurry.

All in all, I turn into a very miserable person.

Hey, if you have a lot fo those same reactions, you might want to talk to your doctor and have him check your blood sugar, too.

I need it !

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

Now, I am sounding like a junky.

I am a Diabetic. One of the pills that I take has not been available at the pharmacy. They have been having trouble with the supplier.

Without that medicine, my blood sugar has spent a lot of time over 300. That is very bad.

I have been having to multiply the does of insulin that I take. It is getting tiresome to have to keep sticking myself with needles, over and over again.

Needles to test my blood, needles to inject medicine…….ARG

Skin

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

My skin tone is okay, so far.

I know of some people who have trouble with oily skin, eczema, and other stuff. What the eczema causes are, I have no idea.

I figure that the doctors should know the best medications for getting rid of it. I have never had to go to a dermatologist. My husband has an appointment with one coming up. He has a sore on his arm that he got when messing with his motorcycle as it blew some gaskets. It sometimes opens and bleeds. His regular doctor has tried to freeze it to get it to dry up, but that hasn’t yet worked. So in the near future, he will find out what a visit to the dermatologist is like. I hope that the diabetes he has isn’t the cause of that sore not healing.

He’s lost weight

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

I have good news.

My husband has managed to lose weight. Since he does have some heart trouble, and Diabetes, this is great news. He had gotten as high as 340lbs which is very bad. He is now down less than 300.

I just wish that I could lose some weight like that. My bones could use the rest. He didn’t take any diet pills, nuphedragen, ephedrine, or any of the others. I don’t know if I will need to take something. I am not able to exercise. That however, is another story, and another article.

Doctor visits

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Life most frustrating.

Monday, my husband went and saw the doctor to get his blood sugar under control.

Tuesday, today, he went to see another doctor about the pain that he has been having in his stomach, and nausea. We heard of a couple of possibilities, but won’t know until after a CAT scan.

That is for tomorrow. I know that doctors are there to help people. I just wish that we didn’t have the need right now. I do not like it when my husband is hurting all of the time.

New Medicine

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Well, I went to the doctor yesterday. The diabetes hasn’t caused any damage, but I’m now on a new medicine. I sit here at 2:30 in the morning and write this.

The new medicine I have to take is Novolog insulin. I’m supposed to take it within 15 minutes of eating. It is supposed to work fast to bring my blood sugar down. Before I ate, my blood sugar was 183 which is high. Got up this morning and it was 312, which is even higher than it’s been for a while. I guess that I will just check it later this mornnig and see what it is then.

I am hoping that this medicine will eventually work, because I do not want any damage from blood sugars that are constantly too high. If it doesn’t work, I’ll have to tell the doctor and let her decide what to do next. Shots are no fun, but losing my sight, or the feeling in my hands and feet is even uglier. So, here’s hoping that it will start to work properly.

Bed Partners

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

No, this is not of a questionable nature.

When my husband and I sleep we find ourselves four beings in a two person bed. Our pets have decided to keep us company. I took a picture with our phone of my husband napping. He is ‘occupied territory’. There are two fur persons who are also sleeping. When we nap, we find that we have to move furry people before we can roll over.

This has gone on for so long that if my husband wants to nap, he expects to have at least one cat if not two with him to keep him company. One of our cats will even ‘tell’ him when it is time to nap by climbing onto his lap and yawning widely. Since he has heart trouble, we don’t mind the bossy cat demanding the nap. She has also been known to wake him up if he has trouble with his blood sugar dropping too low. He also has diabetes. This alone has saved him hospital visits. If a Diabetic’s blood sugar drops too low, severe medical trouble can occur, so it is important to monitor the levels each day. The American Diabetic Association has important guidelines for monitoring blood sugar levels.

Some people might not understand how close pets can get to their family. I am glad that ours seem to care a lot for us both. The attention they show is greatly appreciated.
