Remember me

Welcome back!

Well, remember the toe that I mentioned?

It has changed. At first it got ugly, red, swollen, painful. Now, it no longer has a toe nail.

I am on antibiotics and am wearing a bandage over the offended toe. The foot doctor figured out it was an ingrown nail and the best way to get the infection totally out was to ‘uncap’ the toe. My nail will grown back. It does feel better and no longer throbs.

Meanwhile, I have found that there are a lot of things that you can bump with you toe when you do not think about it. What a learning experience. Instead of being barefoot in the house, I wear a slipper on one foot in order to protect my toe. At least I have toes and feet, and can walk. Life goes on. :)

Sore Toe Time

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Can’t believe it. Of all the things that have gone on lately, I now have a sore toe.

I have no idea what has caused it, but there it is. It is not obvious what happened to it, but I will be seeing the doctor tomorrow, so I will get the chance to figure out what happened then.

Our doc is a really nice guy. He has shown a good sense of humor in many different ways, and listens to us and answers questions that we have. I have heard of some that seem to think that they are next to God. UG We are very glad that we do not have one of those stuffed heads overseeing our health.

Shoes

Friday, September 19th, 2008

What type of shoes do you wear? I imagine there are as many types of shoes as there are people. As for me I like to wear something that has been called thong slippers. You know the type where the strap goes between the toes and only the bottom of the foot is completely covered.

I used to wear clogs when I was young. Thick soles, covered foot, the heel exposed. I liked them for the ease of kicking them off. Now there are Dansko shoes which look similar. They look comfortable and easy to wear. The main reason why I no longer wear regular shoes is having to tie them when my hands hurt from Arthritis, and my feet sweat.

Being the shape that I am (very rotund) does not make it easy to tie shoes, and having hands that hurt also makes it hard. Those shoes that I mentioned earlier do look comfortable however. Maybe I’ll check them out more thoroughly and find something that I really like.

Bad Name

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Hello, my name is MUD.

I was walking and found a white cat paw under the arch of my foot. It was not planned, but it happened. If there is any critter on the face of the Earth that knows how to glare, a cat know how to glare.

I didn’t plan for it to happen, but it did. When I followed the offended fur purrson to apologize, the apology was ignored and she stayed as far from me as possible. I also feel like mud. Her paw is a whole lot smaller than my own clod-hopper (size 10). How do you apologize to a fur purrson when that purrson doesn’t understand English?

Well, I am just going to have to cringe and bear it until she decided to forgive me my trespass. I hope it isn’t long. In the past we have had cats that held grudges for a while. Waking up at night to find toes being chewed on definitely tells us that we did something wrong.

What’s this? I feel a soft white furry body rubbing on my shin. I am forgiven - YIPPEE. :)
