Found a Site

Welcome back!

I found another site. It has some pretty cool pictures on it of different things. The one thing that started me checking out what was there was this really unique piano picture. It almost looked like some kind of monster. Sent a comment that I didn’t know whether to play it or run from it.

It had been carved from wood. I know it had to take quite a long while to do that, let alone the skill to do so. If you feel like looking at the pictures, the site is from a guy in Australia. He calls his site Rat Bag, probably for the variety of items.

Any way , there is it.

Internet Rip Off

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Welcome to another Two Ton Tilly Rant.

I have been trying surveys. I believe that I mentioned them in an earlier post. Well, I am fed up with one particular supposed survey call INBOX DOLLARS.COM. They promise 50cents for every e-mail read. However, they only give credit of one cent. Then when you try to actually get paid for any time and effort put into their activities, you get told that you can’t get paid until you achieve a credit way above what you supposedly have.

In other words, a royal RIP OFF. A lot of time and eye sight wasted on hidden spam and advertising. Nothing has been achieved except to tick off someone who isn’t afraid to label a thief for being a thief. So, beware of INBOX DOLLARS.COM. Their scheme is nothing more than a ploy separate you from you money and time.

Did It Again

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Well, ate breakfast this morning. Don’t usually do that though.

My husband and self went to a buffet place that serves breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. We ate ourselves silly, enjoyed every bite. Left there feeling so full that thinking wasn’t easy. Where we live we have a number of places where that is possible. Found a new place that has catfish. YUM! I know that not everyone likes fried catfish, but with us it is a genuine pleasure.

So, out of all the places we can go, we have: pizzas, Chinese, Tai food, American , catfish, more pizza, Mexican food, salad bars, Japanese food. This is in the middle of Texas after all. We don’t even have to leave the county. Choice is amazing. In a nearby county, we have a military base, and there are restaurants with other choices available. As I sit here right now thinking about all the types of foods available, I am still so full, that I can’t even think about eating a single thing. Don’t usually do this because of the prices of things, but once in a while it is nice to get out and not have to cook.

Am I spoiled? Probably am spoiled, I do live in the USA after all. We as Americans do have choices not available everywhere else. I’m glad and happy to be an American. We wouldn’t have so many choices of types of food if others from other countries hadn’t come here, though. I wonder if they are glad to be in America also?

Jury Rigging

Friday, May 9th, 2008

No, I’m not talking about messing with a court room jury. I’m talking about finding a way to make something work without necessarily following the exact rules of repair.

I imagine that we’ve all done that at one time or another. A coat hanger for a TV antenna is a good example of jury rigging. I’ve heard it called many things over the years, some of which I will not speak of. Sideways engineering is another moniker for jury rigging. Either way, it is sometimes a shortcut to getting something to work, or even the only available choice when there aren’t the needed parts around. My husband and I have learned many different ways to accomplish repairs when there is a lack of money.

One place we lived had bad TV reception…therefore the coat hanger. Although he found that a bicycle rim hanging on the wall worked in a very satisfying manner. He told me that old spring mattresses flung onto a roof usually worked better. I imagine that the neighbors didn’t like it though.

Oh well, here’s to improvisation. Many inventions came about today because of need, or just plain jury rigging.

Surfing the Net

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

If you enjoy the internet and like to find different sites…well have I found something.

Some friends introduced me to a special service called Stumble Upon. I had wondered how to find things to look at when I didn’t even quite know what I wanted to see. Since then I’ve been looking at a lot of different things. It’s fun and easy. If you look at the bottom of this post you will see different icons in a row.

If you notice the icon that is blue & green and has an ’s’ and a ‘u’ in it, all you have to do is click on it then have fun. Try it out sometime. I did and haven’t regretted it.

Surveys

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Just spent about 7 hours on the internet looking at survey sites. Wow, some of them aren’t about surveys as much as they are about selling services, time shares, ring tones for phones, magazines, yata, yata, yata.

What a disappointment. Taking surveys happens to be something that can be fun. Sometimes surveys offer a chance at sweepstakes, or prizes. Most of the ones I met weren’t honest about what they wanted. Instead of answering questions that are part of a survey, you get presented with choices of services, over and over again. The answer of no is not taken easily. The same products are offered again and again. Where I come from, no means no, not try again. some surveys didn’t want to accept that I didn’t desire to publicize my phone number. The site wouldn’t move on until you gave them what THEY wanted. That isn’t surveying, that is only false advertising. The alt button and F4 sure did come on handy.

Again, Again, and I say Again !

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

Yup, the blabby person is back again!

My sister in Arkansas has been wonderful, so has her husband. They both help me with this site. When I mess up (which for me is easy) they straighten things out. I didn’t add the pictures to a previous article, they did it for me. Family can be wonderful. I just had to brag on them for their kindness and understanding, especially their patience. Over and over they’ve helped.

All this in spite of the fact that I talk very fast. I try to slow down, but sometimes my mouth runs too fast to catch it. Talk about hot air….HA! At least with me, politics don’t enter in to it. That is unless I have some opinions about the politicians themselves. By-the-way, I’m afraid that my opinion about them AIN’T so high. Oh well, that’s life isnt it? GRIN :)

Energy Drinks

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

Just recently I heard on the news that a man died for drinking 4 energy drinks. I won’t say the name. The news did mention that the man had been having heart trouble.

Are there any warnings on these drinks? I mean, warnings about caffeine have appeared on some items that have appeared on the shelves in he stores. However, energy drinks seem to be innocent. I recently read an article that gave information on a different type of energy drink. This involves tea and fruits, not chemicals. The site is called A PECULIAR BLOG when I read it I remembered what I’d heard about the man who died. The site ’s URL is:

http://blog.peculiarplace.com/

Please write it down for I haven’t yet learned how to ‘link’ the URL in my own blogs. I know, I know how analog. I prefer hard copy sometimes. Very old fashioned these days, but I’m still learning. This digital age is growing sooooo fast, and I am after all just a beginner. I’m trying to learn, please be patient with me; but, that is another blog after all!:)

Freedom

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

I’ve lived in the USA all of my life and I know there are times that I underestimate what freedoms that we have.

One such freedom I enjoy is speech. Well, I guess writing in this case, Opinions are something that everyone has, although not everyone lets them out. Putting thoughts down on paper, screen, or just onto your tongue helps you to organize yourself a little. Every day, without our noticing, some of our freedoms are being eroded. I’m not saying that it is obvious; but, it happens. I’ve learned that the ‘frog in the pot’ theory isn’t based on fact, but as an analogy it works.

I do not favor ‘political correctness’ in my life. Understand that I have no wish to antagonize any person. There are just times when it would be nice to be able call a rose a rose, and a pile of dog droppings a pile of dog droppings. Calling it fertilizer will not change what it is; something that smells and is not wanted.

I’m all in favor for being polite, when possible. Courtesy helps to keep society moving more or less in a cooperative effort. However, when something is not right, plain speech can be of more benefit than beating around the bush.

All I have to really say is…KEEP speaking people!

Auto Insurance

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

It’s time to rant again, at least for me.

There is an auto insurance company that brags about supplying liability insurance for anyone. Unfortunately, their choice of examples of drivers they show makes me wish I was driving an armored truck or say maybe…a Sherman tank.

Yes, I said tank.

One example driver shown, chases people through the parking lot. He swerves his car back and forth, bumps things (or people), people run away screaming. He doesn’t slow down or use his brakes. The streets or parking lots are not the place to play dodgem cars.

Another example shown says she NEEDS her car. She admits to more than a few tickets, and more that just a couple of accidents. Neither example driver should be on the road until they have gone through drivers education training. They need to learn that driving a car is not a right,; but is a responsibility.Enabling dangerous peole to occupy our roads is not encouraging.

Driving cars is not a game or target practice. Once someone gets behind the wheel the gaming stops.
