Stranded

Welcome back!

We have some friends who came up from New Braunfels, Texas. They cam up on his motorcycle as it is their only way to have transportation. It is in trouble.

A couple of mechanics have told him that he needs to put in a new jet kit. That kit alone costs almost 90$, and then there is the cost of the mechanic. They now have only the money for gasoline to get back home, and they are not able to use the bike for it will burn itself up if they try.

We are not the only ones who are in need concerning the transportation that we have available.

We went to the local food pantry today and found out that they are running out of food. One of the ladies came out and asked another why she is there today since there is nothing for her to do since everything is running out. How can our politicians say that everything is getting better when people are going hungry, becoming homeless, getting stranded, and there is no one there to help?

IF everything is so rosy, if you listen to Obama, why are the food pantries running out of food, and there is no help for travelers, and people losing their homes. It would be nice if the politicians would get their heads out of the sinking sand and actually look around at what is REALLY going on. They

    must

be blind.

Life, again, and again

I mentioned homelessness in my last article.

Whereever I look in our town, I see signs that say homes for rent. We live near an army base so, that must mean that a bunch of the military have been transferred to other posts.

We, ourselves, live in an apartment complex that is loaded with seniors, and handicapped. No military here, and very few vacancies. People who are homeless, are usually that way because of finances, or tragedy. So far, we are not among them. For that I am thankful.

Life

Some people need lessons on how to treat acne, I apparently need lessons on how to balbance a check book.

It isn’t often that i screw up, but it seems like when I do that I do a really good job of it. I have overdraft protection on the worst hit account, but it still hurts. We could really use that money right now. What else is new?

Each month we get to less than one dollar. We are already cutting corners, I guess that now we will be cutting into the walls, too. We are not homeless, so we are still in better shape than some. I do not like it when I mess up, who does after all. :(

Concern

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

Sometimes I wonder what is going on. People are being made homeless. They have homes, but those are being taken away from them. How do the banks expect to sell them with money tight? Wouldn’t it have been better to re-work many of the mortgages of those in trouble?

Housing is not in good standing, people have to live some where. Don’t they? Under a bridge, in an abandoned building is not a good choice. What are these lenders doing? It appears that they are cutting their own throats. The very people that they had once chased to get their signature, they are now evicting. Variable mortgages, balloon payments, out sourcing jobs, high fuel prices, arrogant businesses…they all seem to be paying the price. After all what use is it to make things cheaper to manufacture, if people have no money to buy them anyhow? Foreclosing on homes….those homes will sit vacant because no one can afford to buy them. High fuel costs…People stop driving their cars so fuel is not bought.

Right about now there are fat cat businessmen out there with out any noses on their faces. When you damage the people, in the long run, you damage your self. The children are the ones who have had no choice in any of this, but they are paying for it still. I don’t mean to sound gloom and doom. I just feel concern for the generation growing up homeless.

Homeless

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

Have you ever been homeless? It is an uneasy feeling, almost as if you are in limbo somewhere….not nice.

Too many in our nation are homeless these days. Some through bad things that have happened, some through sickness, some through disasters. There are many ways that people can end up without a place to stay. A long time ago I was there and it is a scary feeling. Some cities have places where shelter can be had for 1 night, ONE night. What about the rest of the year? Our nation is supposed to be one of the richest in choices, availability of supplies, availability of charity. Why are there so many without a place to stay? I do not understand.

Some of our cities have areas where the homeless will squat in old buildings that are empty; except of those who are desperate. They are unsafe, unhealthy, and many are on the verge of collapse. Yet, there are some who think they are lucky that they have those places to stay.

If we had been the site of great disaster I could understand that there aren’t homes available. Look what happened during the hurricane -Katrina for example. But that was supposed to be temporary. Right?

There are charitable organization that try to help. The Salvation Army is one of the most well known. They aren’t able to do everything though. What is the solution? Isn’t there a solution in our civilization somewhere?
