Welcome back!

No, it is not a name.

I took one word from an older Christmas carol to express what has happened in the last day or so. Saturday our church went on a hay ride and had a blast. Young and old, singing and non-singing, going through a nearby neighborhood, serenading anyone who wanted to listen.

We waved at passing cars, had people honk and wave back. This was fun and a time to treasure.

Today, we had church with a great message, great meal, a new singer who played a guitar beautifully, and afterward we exchanged gifts. We ended up having more laughter, smiles, and fun.

I hope that you can have a great time with your family, friends and others and also have a great time. :)

Housecleaning - UG

Friday, November 6th, 2009

Well, it has become that time of year again.

We have been cleaning house for the semi-annual inspection. I HATE, yes I mean HATE to clean house. At the present time, we do not have a steam cleaner. Of course, a Ladybug steam cleaner would give me something nice to look at when I have to eventually do this distasteful deed.

One of the things that happened when the cleaning was being done was that I fell right on my rump. All that I could do was to sit there and wonder what happened? The last I knew I was picking something up. I leaned over from the office chair that I was sitting on and then went to lean back and sit BACK down, the chair however had other ideas. It moved on me. Let’s just say that I was very startled. I didn’t go down hard, but I was definitely surprised. One of thewonderful ladies from our church was there and was doing most of the work. She asked me if I was okay, I said yes, and then I purst out laughing. She looked at me as if I had lost it. Maybe i did, but the whole thing was really funny. I went down in slo-mo of all things. No pain was involved, just a severe loss of dignity. After a moment, she joined me in the laughing. It was truly a surprise. Of course getting back up was no simple stunt, but I got it done.

Had a look around while down there, and got some very strange looks from one of our cats. Now that cat did look at me as if I had really lost it which made me laugh harder. Oh well, it was funny. :)

Humor Rules !

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Yes, I do believe in the generous use of humor.

It can show up in some very unexpected situations. People around you might not understand all of the time, or even some of the time. One way that humor is a positive thing is that it can lift us out of the doldrums and help us to get more light-hearted.

When things are going strange around you sometimes having a good laugh can help. Just because people expect you to cry, does not mean that you cannot laugh. The human mind can only take so much sadness, and it needs to feel relief.

If you are with someone who has gone through tough times, and they laugh unexpectedly, it might be their mind trying to get rid of some pressure. If someone that you know is going through something hard, try to help them and not lay guilt trips on them, they already have enough to handle.

Within the last year, my husband and I lost 4 people that meant a lot to us. We have laughed and cried. We have survived and still remember the good things from our lost loved ones. Laughter at times can help to lighten a heart and mind that are on overload.

I am not a mind doctor. I have not any really special training, but I AM A SURVIVOR of grief.

Humor

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

I do enjoy humor. I like to laugh, giggle, snicker, snort, whatever type of noise that I make when there is humor present.

The belly laugh itself can be very therapeutic. Yes, after that type of laugh your sides can be sore, and your belly weak, but it does lift your spirits. How do you feel about humor?

A pie in the face is funny to me. I remember laughing hilariously at old movies of the Keystone Cops. Abbot and Costello, the Three Stooges, Roadrunner were favorites of mine because of humor. These days I find that some of what is represented as humor does not seem to be funny to me. That is sad because people need to laugh. They need something that will cheer them up and give them the exercise of laughter to lighten their spirits.

True humor does not need to embarrass a person in order for it to be humor. Laughter when shared, is a beautiful shared experience. :)

Eggs-zactly

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Just read something that I thought was unusual and hilarious.

It involves 11 dozen eggs. I wish that I knew a lot of recipes for eggs other than cakes and stuff. If it was Easter, there would be no problem knowing what to do.

How many egg recipes are there anyway? This writer seems to know how to laugh at life. These days - that is important. When I read what happened, I couldn’t help myself, but guffaw, and then snicker. Of course I’ve never done anything like that….Ahem. Well, not with eggs. I have had many a disaster. So far, I have survived. :)

Temptation

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

That word can be fun or dangerous. Well, today I’m going for fun. My sister and I communicate all the time even though she lives in Arkansas.

One thing she does a lot is send me recipes over the internet. When I look at the pictures or read the list of ingredients, my stomach starts to growl and it stirs up my imagination. It is so much fun to read what she will send each time, and some of her comments are hilarious. One of my favorite comments is - Bwahahaha. In other words, uncontrolled laughter.:)

There isn’t enough laughter in this world of ours, so any excuse to laugh makes the world brighter. Some of the sites have such beautiful pictures of what is to be fixed that they should be in picture frames. Just think of it, an art gallery filled with yummy pictures of tasty food. Of course if you could find a way to give the art gallery the scent of wonderful food, any restaurants in the neighborhood would get a lot of business after each visitor leaves. Now that would really be fun temptation !

What is going on?

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

Sometimes I think that I’m getting old. Other times, I know I am.

Try going from one room to another to get something, but when you get there you can’t remember what it was that you were going to do. Well, I remember that I was going to get something, but I don’t remember what it was that I was going to get. Humph…disgusting.
it is exercise, but it is also very frustrating.

I remember one time that I was looking for my eyeglasses. I can read without them, but if I want to see something across the room in any detail I better have my glasses on. I looked and looked, but couldn’t find them any where. Finally I got so frustrated that i asked my husband if he knew where I had left them. He paused, then he pointed at me starting at my feet. His hand slowly moved up and when he was done, he was pointing at the top of my head. He grinned and then broke out laughing.

Humph…disgusting. he teased me about that incident for a while. At least he teaed me about it until he lost his glasses, too. He almost sat on his. :}

Driving, no, not Miss Daisy

Friday, July 11th, 2008

The freeways are filled with speedy drivers. They pass one another, swerve in and out of traffic. They sometimes tailgate, honk, cut in in front of you. Or, in other words they appear to be impatient.

That is one of the reasons that I avoid the interstate highway. The frontage road is okay by me. I am not a little old lady driver, I’m just in no hurry to get somewhere. Unless it’s a trip to the hospital emergency room, in which case I sometimes beat the ambulance.

A few years back I was driving an older van that had a wobble in the front end. We had gotten some opinions on what was wrong and got several ideas of what to expect. It all went from bad to extremely bad. I was on one of the state roads in our town - not the main drag by the way. As I was driving along, a police officer pulled in behind me. I did not have to worry about a speeding ticket as I was going only 30 in a 55 mph zone. The officer came off of a crossroad. he followed for a while then put his lights on. There was no other traffic and I wondered what the matter was. When he walked up to the window he asked if I knew that I was going only 30 in a 55 zone. When I told him yes, he asked me why.

We had been told that a tire rod could be going out on the van and we didn’t have the money, yet, to fix it. We had also been told that part of the suspension was fixing to give way. When I told him about what we had been told, he said that is logical and safer to drive slower. He still ran the plate and the insurance, oh well. When he was done, he said that we were free to go, and he hoped that we would get home safely. I carried tracts with me then to witness about Jesus, so I handed him one. When he read it, he burst out laughing. The tract was designed to look like a free ticket. He got a ticket, I didn’t, plus I gave him something to cheer up about. We later found out that the wobble in the van was from a tire that had gone out of round, still possibly a bad thing, but easily fixed even with limited money.

Internet Humor

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

I love to visit the internet and see different sites. Of course, I like to use Stumble Upon to do so. You never know what you’ll see next.

Well, I have seen at least two sites that made me laugh…hard. One was a cartoon of a skeleton sitting at the computer saying….just one more. I have been there and done that. Another one was a box that looks like one of those error messages and it says…Stumble Upon is broken. You have stumbled too many sites. You need to stop….and more along those lines. In the bottom of the box in the right hand corner is the phrase..You are addicted. My sister and I have sent this one item back and forth with additional comments to each other. I end up giggling each time. I don’t know who it is that thinks about or makes these things up, but they are so true. As I have said before, the internet can be fun. I have heard that some say that Al Gore claims to have created the internet. Don’t think so folks. He appears to be too much of a fuddy duddy, of course that’s just my opinion, too.

Well, who ever the creator is for the internet, it can be fun, or it can be frustrating, it is apparently here to stay. :)

Con Artists

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

We have all had our share of meeting con artists in this world. There are some out there that would dearly love to rob you of all of your savings, car, identity, whatever.

Well, I ran into another type of con artist on Thursday morning. When I awoke (I am not a morning person people!), I was greeted by a very insistent being who insisted that she had Not been fed. Only problem was that her bowl had fresh food in it. The meows (I did say meows) were very strong and coming quite loudly.

Had to ask my husband if he’d fed her. Of course the answer was yes. Then he asked why. When told, he looked at the four footed con artist and told her that she was lying. There is one thing in this world that has no doubt, cats KNOW how to give dirty looks. My husband was on the receiving end of a very determined dirty look. Our visitor who had been listening, could not help himself but to laugh at our cat’s reaction. Con artist exposed! Of course said con artist then went to the offending bowl and started to eat what was left from earlier. All day long, all we had to do was think of the scam that was pulled and laughter would happen.

Con artists come in every disguise…even fur and four feet.
