Season Change

Welcome back!

I mentioned the change in the season by mentioning the sports events that will show up on TV, if it hasn’t already changed your TV program list.

One of the things that happens when the seasons change, is the change in the temperature of your home. Food changes with the up and coming holidays, so why not the window coverings?

Thicker curtains to keep out the cold, VeloBind, shades or other things to control just how much light is let in. If the world outside your home is changing, the TV programming changing, why shouldn’t your windows change to match what is going on outside?

It’s Hot

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Just came back from mom going to the doctor for her yearly check-up. So far, everything is okay. (sort of) The temperature outside is definitely telling of summer.

She has lost some more weight. One of her feet is slightly swollen, and her foot has a sore on it that she has had ongoing for 10 years. Even the best acne treatments won’t help it. Ten years ago, she pulled off a wart. It has not yet healed correctly.

They did some blood tests to check out if she is needing a shot to correct her anemia, and she will find out the results later on in the week. She did end up getting the shot, but the rest we do not yet know.

On the way to the doctor, I am sweating greatly, she is hiding in her jacket and trying to hide from the wind. Talk about opposites! She gets cold very easy, I have always gotten hot too easy. The only time that did not happen was when I was anemic because of an old health problem. Well, at least she has her own apartment. We couldn’t live together since I would constantly be roasting in her dwelling. Even her son (my husband) gets too hot in her place. Oh well, we can stand it for small amounts of time when we visit.

Seasons Change

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Yup, everyone know that. Not a whole lot of people actually pay attention to it except for whether or not they have to wear a coat when they go out.

One thing I know the apartment manager where we live does is to change the furnace filters for each season. It does help with the AC bill and in the winter it does help with the heating bill.

What about with peoples’ cars? Don’t they need to have things changed there too? I guess so. Most of the time we don’t worry about that for each year we might be driving a different car or vehicle. Not new, just changed out for a different one. If old cars are finally taken off of the road, what will poor people drive? The new cars do not seem to last as long as the older models. Talk about a change of seasons.

Fall … please don’t

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

Fall does not mean that you should fall over. :)

However, fall to me means that the leaves change color, start to fall down to the ground, the weather gets considerably cooler. Holidays are coming. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentines day, Easter. I do enjoy all of these holidays. I also do enjoy the decorating that can come with them.

Right now, I have a new seasonal decoration on the front porch. It has a white tree skirt that is spread out, a Christmas wreath in the middle, and the words around it that say - It’s About Jesus. Too many times Christmas has been thought about as gifts, Santa, Reindeer….yada, yada, yada.

Christmas might not be the exact day of Jesus’ birth, but it is the time that had been set apart in order to celebrate it. Where have all of the manger scenes gone? What about the angels? Too many times Santa is shown (He does not exist by the way.) in a sleigh. Gifts are nice to receive, but how many families go bankrupt trying to out give others when it comes to Christmas presents? How many give them selves to their families all year round? How many only think of giving during the ‘Holiday Season”? Please don’t forget that the best present that you can give to your family is YOURSELF. It doesn’t cost much, just time.

This fall, why don’t you rethink about a different type of ‘fall’. Fall in love with your family again. It will be a gift that can grow. It’s growth wouldn’t hurt unlike the National debt that keeps growing. This fall…please don’t forget to give yourself to you family. :)
