Wash Up

Welcome back!

Well, now that I have gotten hairballs out of my system, I get to be busy with washing up the dishes that have collected in my sink in the kitchen. It is not as if it is a set of copper sinks that might look good, it is just stainless steel.

I guess that is better than the old fashioned porcelain that would stain. I just wish that the sink was EMPTY. Sometimes empty is nice. If it is not a wallet, or a glass when you’re thirsty, empty can be nice. Oh yes, do not forget bank accounts. You do not want them empty.

My husband and I have just gone through some health problems and when those happen, nothing gets done. We used to use paper plates. You know, use them and throw them away, but that gets expensive. Now, if he could just get rid of all of his kidney stones, and me get rid of the arthritis, things will get done. :)

Sink or Swim

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Have you ever heard of the old saying “sink or swim”? I have and it can leave you with an uncomfortable feeling if you are the one being told that.

It used to be that kids were taught to swim by being dropped into water to , literally, sink or swim. Then people got the idea that if the kid sinks, the kid might actually drown. So people started to teach kids slowly how to swim in a safe manner that would make sure that they were safe. I was one of the blessed ones that was taught to swim slowly and safely. Of course now, I would float very easily without much effort. Fat does float doesn’t it? :)

Some things have gotten better in life. Swimming lessons, medicine, flight, electronics, those are only a few things that have gotten better. Plumbing has gotten better when you think of sinks, bathtubs, toilets (thank God for them), washing machines, and dishwashers. Now when I think of sink or swim, I think of a sink, or going to the beach and the surf in order to swim. Life can be good.

Dishes

Monday, August 25th, 2008

One of the things that I remember from being a teenager, was washing the dishes in the kitchen sink.

Mom and I lived in apartments and had to make do with what ever sinks came in the apartment. Where my husband and I live now, we have the split sink, you know two sided.

It is a whole lot easier to wash dishes now with two sides to the sink than just one. I’ve worked in restaurants where they would have these giant sinks that a toddler could take a bath in, but the sink would have three big sides to them. Doing dishes there could really get hard on my back. At least now the sink at home is at the right level where it doesn’t get to the back very much. We tried paper plates for a while, but you still have to wash the pans that are used, and it always felt like throwing money away after eating. Oh well, back to the old kitchen sink again. At least I’m taller now. :)
