Ain’t It Wonderful ?

Welcome back!

Yes, well, you might wonder what it is that I am talking about. I am talking about being able to breathe with having to sniffle, cough, hack, all sorts of disgusting things.

I am so glad to finally be free of that mess that I have found myself smiling A LOT.

Of course, that makes the people around me wonder what it is that I am up to. I think that I like that, too. :)

Birthdays

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Today is my birthday. I never thought about how I would feel past the age of 25, let alone the age of 50. Well, I made it.

I am alive, basically sane, still opinionated. My hair is not gray, except for a few very small areas. I have had people suggest that I dye my hair to cover my gray. However, I wonder why, I worked hard for my gray I earned it honestly. I do not have any noticeable wrinkles on my face. Lots of laugh lines do show however. Most days I walk around with a smile on my face. I like the look that I get from people when they see the smile. Some just smile back, some actually look at me like I’ve lost it and they wonder why, some look at me as if I am planning the next great bank robbery. (snicker, snort)

The income that my husband and I have is below poverty level, we rent an apartment, we have health problems - so what. WE ARE ALIVE, that alone is reason for smiling.

So, if I am not the only one having a birthday today, as if I wouldn’t be, HAPPY BIRTHDAY !

Shopping Woes

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

Have you seen the people in the stores? Many of them have such severe frowns, that I would not want to be on the road with them.

If you are looking for a sale, try going online in order to avoid the traffic, especially the sour pusses. I have seen some commercials for Buy.com that are very funny. Howie Mandel is in 2 of them. In one he talks to an office person who seems to take great delight in not having to leave his cubicle in order toshop. The man looks like the guy from ‘The Core’ who was the computer expert, he should know computers after all. The other commercial has Howie talking to a Christmas tree asking for ideas on how to tell people about the free shipping. The dude wearing the tree costume has no ideas. How can someone wearing a tree costume have no ideas about Christmas? The look on Howie’s face should be priceless.

I always thought that Christmas was a time for happiness, and joy. I know that times are tough, but frowns make things tougher for you and for everyone around you. A smile will take less effort from your facial muscles and help save wrinkles later on. All that I can say is that giving a smile once in a while does help, these commercials help with that. :)

Thank You’s

Friday, September 12th, 2008

That is something that is not heard as much any more. That is a shame. When someone does something nice, they should hear the words ‘Thank You’.

It is part of life that sometimes good things happen. It is also a part of life that bad things happen, too. How many times has something bad happened, and the people will gripe loudly? Yet, if something nice happens, not a word is spoken?

I have always felt that if I can take the time to gripe about something wrong, I should also take the time to say thanks for the good that is done. One simple word, ‘thanks’, can help another person to have a good day. It might be the only good thing that they will hear all day, or maybe even all week. So, if you can gripe, you can also give back something good. It will leave you with a good feeling inside yourself as well. I”m not talking about insincere words, just a simple sign that you noticed the good that someone did. Smiles are rare and few these days. When you give someone a reason to smile, it will also give you a reason to smile, and make your day brighter, too.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. :)

Have You Smiled Lately?

Monday, January 14th, 2008

I like to smile. It gives my face something to do besides just sit there. A face that isn’t exercised gets bored. It might frown. That’s bad, it makes people think something is wrong. There are things that are going wrong in the world; and frowning won’t make them better. I have noticed, however, that a smile is something good. Did you know that if you smile, you use less of the muscles in your face than if you frown? I know exercise is good and all that but which would you rather show to the people around you?

A frown on your face will create a space around you that people give those who look angry. I guess the people don’t want the anger to rub off on them. Well, I don’t blame them. Too many people are angry these days.

At the same time, try walking in a crowd and smile! Sometimes people will smile back. I have seen times where a tired, sad looking person will see a smile and smile back. They will lift up their head and straighten their shoulders and it seems to help. Smiles usually don’t hurt you or others. It’s even an easy exercise. Remember a smile is easy on the face–less wrinkles. People don’t seem to be wary of smilers, just the frowners. So exercise your face a little–SMILE.
