Dry?

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

Welcome back!

Let’s just say that right now in Texas, we do not need a dehumidifier. The air outside is dry enough to cause concerns for fires.

In other parts of Texas where I do not live, they are having severe wild fires.

I worry for those who have to fight the fires, and for those who happen to live nearby. All I can say is please try to be careful with cigarette butts, empty glass bottles and other stuff. When it is really dry, is can be surprizing what will start a fire.

Health Care

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Health care these days is something that a lot of people are talking about. I realize that here in Texas where we live, Scott & White hospital has some plans that do help people. I have no idea about health insurance in nc.

Each state has its own regulations about how the plans will or will not cover you. I know that when my sister was still alive in Arkansas, those plans weren’t very good. It could be so much worse for us if we did not have the type of medical availability around that we need.

What will happen with the proposed new health care regulations - I have no idea.

Convenient

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Trying to get a new vehicle that you are buying and it is from another state is not convenient. You have to go through a lot of hoops to get everything set up the way the state wants it.

Making sure that everything works - okay. Getting car insurance - okay. You can even get car insurance online if you want. However, did you know that in the state of Texas you have to get a ‘Green Sheet’ before you can go to the revenue office? Oh by the way, the “Green Sheet’ is not green anymore. It is white. The sheet consists of a list and description of the vehicle and everything that has been checked and made sure that it will pass the code for inspection. The inspection itself lasted more than twice as long than the regular inspection. It was not very convenient for us, and our rumps got tired sitting on cold metal folding chairs - YUK. The vehicle is finally legal, but I never knew there were so many hoops to jump through to get it done.
