Inside

Welcome back!

Inside our new van, we found a bunch of surprises.

The roof of the van has these special lights that light up with a flick of a button. They are not bright, but they are enough light to see what is going on inside, and they help us to move around easily.

The van looks great, the interior is in good shape, and the van has enough power to haul a heavy load. It has a V8 engine in it, and since my husband and I are over 300 lbs, that is important. We are VERY happy.

Happy - Happy - Happy

Monday, December 6th, 2010

We were given an early Christmas present yesterday. We were given a white Econoline van to drive.

Since we had been without transportation for months, this is a big thing to us. We have to be able to get to the doctor, or take our mom to the doctor, and that wasn’t possible for a while.

It was a moment of surprise followed by being stunned, and then happy tears. :D

Joint

Friday, June 11th, 2010

That’s right. Just the word joint.

I found out that some friends that we know, who also happen to know about vehicles, think that the constant velocity joint in our van needs some work.

My first thought was HUH? I know, I know, not very intelligent sounding. However, being told that something with that name could put our van out of commission kind of stunned me at first. Since then, I have been trying to think of someone who would be willing to work on a front wheel drive van that is from 1989.

Not very many people have volunteered the information that they might know what to do in that case. I didn’t even ask for a volunteer to do any work for free, just looked for someone who knew how and would be willing to be thought of as a mechanic in this case. Especially when I told them that the van was a Dodge, they would get this kind of distant look in their eyes and then they would kind of mumble.

I found out that Dodge likes to make their vehicles with one-of-a-kind type of nuts and bolts that need special tools. The tool would cost more that our van might be worth in money. We NEED this van however since 4 people rely on it. Some of those people have bad heart troubles, diabetes, arthritis, and other stuff going on. So, the old van is important. Now what? Still thinking……..

Dreams are weird

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Yes, I have mentioned dreams before, haven’t I?

Well, anyway, I believe that dreams are weird. Most of the time they do not make any sense in any way shape or form. I recently had one of those types of dreams that involved sinkholes.

Driving down the road going some place. I do not remember where, just some place. There was a sink hole ahead so we had to turn off. Did I tell you that the vehicle was driving itself? No, well, I did say that dreams are weird, though. The inside of the vehicle looked like a living room. I took over the wheel and pulled into a parking lot to avoid the sink hole that appeared across the road. The parking lot of course shortly had sink holes, too.

Went into a nearby house. By this time the vehicle looked like a mini-van, go figure. In the house were people that were planning how to avoid all of the sink holes in the town. No idea why any one was there. As people talked, sink holes appeared around the house. Next thing we knew, the house itself dropped (like an elevator) into a sink hole about one story deep. Used a staircase to escape the house just in time to see our vehicle tip-toe itself out of another sink hole. It looked like a cartoon van this time. I woke up just in time to go HUNH!

Tell me, are dreams weird or not? :)

I am an adult, really

Monday, April 27th, 2009

I look in the mirror and think, “I am an adult, really.” However, I still see a zit staring back at me.

I thought that type of thing would stop when my teenage years were gone. NOPE. it hasn’t. It makes me think of all that people go through for acne treatment, and for a while I was thankful that i didn’t have that problem.

Now, I have a zit, again. It ain’t fair. I know that it is life, but it ain’t fair. My van looks like it has had trouble with zits. A little sanding and a paint job would take care of that for the van. People can’t be treated the same way, though. A zit. I have a zit.

Getting Nearer

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

The time is getting nearer. We should soon be on the road again.

We have been trying to get our van up and running again. It appears that will happen soon. We are both tired of not being able to go where we want, and not being able to visit the people that we care about. Not having transportation can be very frustrating. Not having the money to get the repairs is even more frustrating.

We have been patient, so far. I have never really been able to be very patient. It is one thing to be able to wait, and quite another to have to wait without choice. Some people have prayed for patience, I have never been THAT brave. I have seen what those people go through, and find myself to be basically chicken thinking about patience. :}
